Sinner System-Chapter 475: Generous
"Tch, do not address me so casually, human."
"Aw, come on, you’re trying to kill everyone, so it’s the least I can do in return," I responded with a smile.
"Well, you certainly are awfully composed for someone who’s about to die, along with the rest of your vile species," He scoffed, before narrowing his eyes as he glanced at Cleo, "Hm? Ah, another one. Those Skills...I see, you can steal the abilities of Monsters. But unlike me, you have no upper limit to how many you can steal. How enviable...perhaps I should have saved an Empty Skill Slot."
Sounds like he’s filled the three empty slots I saw when I used Appraisal on him. Or...maybe he’s just saying that to make us think that he has?
"So, did you take over this guy just to say hi to me? Wait, don’t tell me...aw, you missed me, didn’t you? Did you travel all the way here from a whole other world just to see me again?" I inquired with a smirk.
"Laugh while you still can, Kaivel Intrix. Soon enough, you won’t have anything to smile about. You humans seem to truly believe that you can win this war. You have employed some praiseworthy tactics so far...but unfortunately for you, I predicted as much. And I have taken measures accordingly. Seeing as how humans will soon be extinct, I find myself in a rather good mood, so I shall explain." 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
"How generous of you," I responded dryly.
"I gained a new Demonic Art recently, for this very purpose...Anti-Teleportation. When I used my Personalis Arma, Dimension Breaker, to enter this world through the Final Dungeon, I-..."
"Oh, is that what that’s called? We’ve been referring to it as the Demon Lord’s Fortress, but yeah, Final Dungeon sounds cooler."
"Hey, maybe don’t antagonize him too much, this could be valuable info," Isla muttered quietly.
Yeah, she’s right, I should hold off on provoking him until he’s done talking.
"Fortress, huh...well, I suppose that isn’t inaccurate. Now, then, where was I? Ah, yes...when I deployed the Final Dungeon, and the thousands of Dungeons across the rest of this world, I sacrificed my Anti-Teleportation Skill, along with the Skill Slot it occupied. I merged the Skill with the final cast of Dimension Breaker, for the effect of-...well, it seems the Teleporter behind you has already noticed."
I see, so that’s why she can’t teleport out.
"So, then, yesterday, you deliberately deactivated the effect of Anti-Teleportation," I realized with a grimace.
"Exactly, it was to lull you humans into a false sense of security, to make you think that you actually stand a chance against my forces. But the tactics you’ve employed simply will not work.
I’ve currently set it so that Anti-Teleportation doesn’t prevent Teleporters from teleporting into the Dungeons...however, the instant anyone teleports into one of these Dungeons, they seal shut, escape is impossible, teleportation or otherwise.
The only way to unseal the Dungeons after that is for either all the humans inside it to die, or all the Monsters. If all the Monsters are killed, the Dungeon will disintegrate into dust and disappear, and any surviving humans will safely find themselves on the ground outside. It’s vexing, by Dimension Breaker always has rules that I must follow," He sighed wistfully.
Yeah, if he could freely set the rules of the Dungeons himself, without any restrictions, we’d all be dead...he could just have them permanently seal up even if the Dungeon Boss is defeated.
Hm? Wait...
"You said all the Monsters...don’t tell me-..."
"I’ll admit, you really are sharp. Yes, that’s right...all the Monsters in the Dungeon need to be killed, not just the final Monster, what you call the Dungeon Boss. So, even without Anti-Teleportation, this strategy was never going to work, you have no shortcuts to conquering these Dungeons.
Oh, and I sacrificed another of my Skill Slots to make the Dungeons’ structure as indestructible as the Personalis Arma. So, if you were thinking of destroying the Dungeons from the outside...well, you can certainly try, but it won’t make a difference. You see, I thought of everything...I made sure you would have no loopholes to exploit."
"I mean, you’ve literally had decades to plan this out, so...I would imagine so."
"It’s a shame that I am stuck in here for over a month, but it will only be a matter of time before I get to tear you humans apart with my own hands. I imagine you intend to invade the Final Dungeon before that happens, but it will make no difference. Either way, you will die," He declared confidently, his voice dripping with malice and bloodlust.
"You know, I’ve wondered for a while...how is it that Monsters don’t starve in the Dungeons? I guess some species would be fine, like Demons and Slimes, but what about the rest?" I inquired curiously.
"The Dungeons generate a special form on Mana that keeps the Monsters from starving, the Mana converts into physical energy to replace the energy gained from sustenance. Of course, this does not work on humans."
"Huh, so that’s how it works."
"Of all the questions you could have asked, you certainly picked a rather mundane one. Well, no matter...whatever information I reveal, will ultimately make no difference. My victory is all but assured, after all, so struggle in vain to your hearts content, Kaivel Intrix.
Oh, before I go, there are a couple more things. The first, is that retreat is now impossible. Once a group of humans enters, the Dungeon will seal shut within a minute, so they cannot retreat.
And finally, the rule that Monsters must stick to their assigned floor in the Dungeons is no longer in effect. I only had it appear that way yesterday so that you humans would be working with faulty information.
Every Monster in the Dungeons can move freely between the floors...including this one," He smirked, right as I sensed several presences approaching through the tunnel behind us.
"Alright, Cleo, you’re up, take out the Archdemon. Isla, back her up. I’ll deal with the rest," I remarked with a grimace, as dozens of Demons and Greater Demons stepped into the Boss Room...
