Sinner System-Chapter 451: Calamity Raids (Part 9)
Point-of-View: Aarav Gill
———————————————————————————
I formed a bone cannon with a thin, narrow barrel over my right hand. I then took aim, firing out a pressurized, piercing beam of blood, forcing it out through the narrow opening in the barrel.
The beam burst out with immense force, a few cracks forming across the end of the bone barrel as the pressure exceeded its capacity.
A screech of pain rang out as I pierced through the Dungeon Boss’s-...a King Ant...-right shoulder, the beam hitting the wall behind it. The Monster shuddered in agony, its arm slumping to its side as it stumbled back in pain. It trembled as it narrowed its eyes and rapidly sprinted towards me, letting out a vicious snarl.
Damn it, I was aiming for the middle of its torso, but I was way off...this technique is powerful, but it’s hard to control.
A volley of wind arrows came shooting out from behind me, stopping the Monster in its tracks. It began to back away, shuddering in pain as a couple of the arrows grazed its sides. Bits of its exoskeleton got shredded off, a thick, gloopy liquid oozing out and running down its legs.
I swiftly raced forward, raising my left hand and rapidly extending out a bone spike straight towards the middle of the Monster’s chest.
It quickly spread out its wings, fluttering them rapidly and starting to fly up. It was brought to an abrupt halt as my bone spike pierced into its right ankle, rapidly branching up into its leg.
It let out an agonized screech before whipping its left arm across, using its razor-sharp fingers to slice through its knee. The Monster severed its leg before the bones could branch out further, right as I swung my right arm across while firing out another piercing blood beam from the bone cannon over my hand.
I sliced off its other leg as it quickly veered across the air, the severed leg plummeting and thudding against the ground, the first one landing next to it as I detached the bone spike from my left hand.
I was trying to slice through its midsection and cut it in two, but my aim was off again, damn it...
A couple of rapid wind arrows came shooting up towards it, before I swiftly extended out several tendrils of blood as it narrowly evaded the arrows, tensing as my tendrils wrapped around what was left of its legs, holding it in place.
It frantically began to try and claw the tendrils off with its left hand, but it was too late, as three rapid, intense wind arrows came shooting out. Two of the arrows hit their mark, tearing the Monster’s wings apart and shredding its exoskeleton over the top of its shoulders, the third one hitting its left bicep. The arrow drilled into its exoskeleton, bursting through and tearing its left arm off.
The Monster screeched as it helplessly plummeted towards the ground, crashing onto the dirt with a loud thud, the gloopy liquid pouring out of its injuries as it tried to roll over and move, before I planted my foot on its stomach and dug my heel in.
"My aim with this really sucks, but...no way I’m missing at point-blank," I remarked, as I leaned down and pressed the barrel of my bone cannon over the Monster’s solar plexus, before firing out a blood beam.
The King Ant seized up sharply in agony as I pierced right through its Core, before it slumped against the ground lifelessly.
"Nicely done, you’ve definitely improved," Remarked Jin, as he approached me with a smile.
"Heh, yeah, I totally boned that guy," I chuckled in response.
"I mean, you used a blood attack to finish him off, not bone, so..."
"Come on, you know what I meant. Also, awesome job with backing me up, man, it would’ve been a lot tougher without you," I grinned, as I held up my hand.
"You’re most welcome," He replied with a wry smile, before giving me a high five.
"Guess we should head back now, huh?"
"Yeah, I think we should. I feel a bit uneasy, to be honest. Five Calamity Level Dungeons at the same time, I get the feeling that there’s more to this than meets the eye," He frowned warily.
"Ah, crap, you think so too? Honestly, I’ve been feeling the same, but I was hoping that it was nothing more than plain ol’ paranoia," I replied sheepishly.
"Well, let’s certainly hope so. But after what happened to Kai last year, we can’t be too careful," He pointed out prudently.
Yeah, that’s true. I really don’t want to end up getting dragged into the Monster world. Doubt I’ll be able to find my way back like Kai did, and even he needed well over half a year to pull that off.
"Man, it really sucks that we can’t communicate with anyone outside while we’re in a Dungeon," I sighed wistfully.
"No point complaining about something we can’t change. Let’s move quickly. If it turns out that nothing’s wrong, great. But if our intuition is right, we don’t want to end up regretting taking too long to get back."
"Agreed. Things have been nice and peaceful lately, definitely don’t want that to change," I nodded, before we headed back towards the tunnel.
I wonder how the raids in the other Calamity Level Dungeons are going? Well, I can’t imagine that Kai, Ariella or Jaden would have any real trouble, those guys are more monsters than the actual Monsters.
Beatriz is no slouch either, and Iseul is deceptively capable. Don’t really know much about Kai’s summons, but they’re probably pretty strong too.
Let’s see, I believe Kai’s taking on one of the Dungeons with one of his two X-Ace level summons, the other was sent to join up with Beatriz.
If I remember right, Jaden’s teamed up with Iseul, and Ariella’s the only X-Ace in her party. Huh...I wonder why?
I mean, if I had to pick, I’d have probably gone with Kai, seeing as how his full power comes in at a Power Level of nearly six million, while Ariella maxes out at just below four million, I think.
"Hey, know why Ariella was the only of us who was assigned to a party without another X-Ace?" I asked Jin curiously.
"Oh, I’d been wondering about that too. Guess we’ll just have to ask her once we’re out," He replied with a shrug.
