Sinner System-Chapter 407: Monster System (Part 2)
Monster System...a Skill called Assimilation...and a section titled Assimilated Skills, with abilities that very clearly sound like powers possessed by Monsters.
Specifically, the bat Monsters, and of course, Harpies.
I’d be willing to bet good money that her first two raids consisted of Dungeons with those Monsters.
And that Unlock Progress thing, I’m guessing she has to consume or absorb a certain number of Monsters to unlock those abilities.
I get why she’s hanging back and trying to stay out of my line of sight...she’s doing exactly what I did, keeping her powers under wraps.
She must have used Appraisal on me...in which case, she would’ve seen that I’ve got a System, and the Appraisal Skill, too.
I think she’s realized that I’ve caught on though, she isn’t hiding anymore, and has a slight grimace on her face.
She had medium-length black hair that was combed across to the right, with the left side shaved off. She’d dyed the ends of her hair a vibrant blue, a few strands falling over her forehead and right eye.
Her eyes were a deep, dark blue, and she had a pretty pale complexion, with heavy, dark eyeliner around her eyes, black lipstick, and slightly thick eyebrows. She had a slender, petite figure, and was around average height, a bit shorter than Aria.
She was wearing a dark gray, sleeveless jacket under a dark blue, long-sleeved shirt, with a short black skirt over dark blue tights, and tall black boots that went upto her knees.
She had dark blue gauntlets on her arms, extending upto her elbows, with three Wolverine-like blades over the knuckles on each gauntlet, and a metal breastplate covering the left side of her chest.
She’s looking pretty tense, I should stop staring. I’m not going to expose her, considering that I was once in the exact same situation.
That said, I’m definitely not going to ignore this. I’ll approach her later, when no one else is around...naturally, I’m pretty damn curious. But for right now...
"Alright, guys, whenever you’re ready, come at me!"
...
Gotta say, I’m glad I agreed to this. I mean, sure, I did feel pretty bored throughout most of it, but I had quite a fascinating encounter.
That girl, she didn’t really do anything during her group’s sparring bout against me, she just hung back with the Support Mages.
I’d wrapped up the session a few minutes ago, and I was making my way out of the building, heading through the corridors towards the front entrance.
Hm, how should I go about approaching her? Maybe I could try reaching out on social media? Yeah, that could work...actually, maybe I should ask Aria to do it.
Don’t want to give off the wrong impression, after all, so that’s probably the best-...
"H-Hey, wait up!" A voice called out from behind, before I glanced back, my eyes widening slightly in surprise.
Huh, speak of the devil.
"Hm? Oh, it’s you...Monster System girl."
"K-Keep your voice down, p-please!" She responded in a sharp whisper, before nervously glancing around.
"Relax, I’m not going to out you. Well, unless you out me, of course," I replied with a wry smile.
"I-I won’t, I p-promise."
"Good. I’ve got a lot of questions for you, and I’d imagine you’ve got a lot you probably want to ask me too. But talking here is risky, so...here, I’ll give you my address, drop by around 6," I remarked, as I prompted her to bring up her I-Watch display.
"Huh? U-Uh, I don’t th-think..."
"Oh, don’t get the wrong idea, I’m not hitting on you or anything. And I’m not trying to get you alone, I live with my girlfriend, she knows about my System and can keep a secret, so you won’t have anything to worry about. Of course, if you’re opposed to it, that’s fine too," I replied with a smile.
"I, um...okay, then," She nodded, before bringing up her I-Watch display.
I typed my address in as she turned the display towards me, before she switched it off as I finished entering it.
"Alright, see you later, then. Oh, and this goes without saying, but don’t leak my address either," I remarked wryly, before adding as I heard footsteps, "I’ll be on my way now. Later."
"Right...later."
...
...
"Woah, for real?! There’s someone else with a System?!" Exclaimed Aria excitedly.
"Yeah, if she decides to show up, she should be here any minute now," I nodded in response.
It was a couple of hours later, a few minutes to 6 PM, and Aria had just gotten back home from the Guild.
After I left the Academy, I messaged her to let her know that one of the students might be dropping by, though I didn’t get into the details. I know things are highly secure in this era and all, but I decided against risking it.
Naturally, she was pretty puzzled over why, and I just told her she’d get it soon enough.
I’d just gotten done explaining the situation to her, and she’s more than a little intrigued.
Of course, there’s a decent chance that the girl, Cleo Nova, might decide against coming here.
Which would be understandable...under normal circumstances, it’s probably not the best idea for a girl to accept an invitation from a guy she just met to his house.
"This is so exciting, I’ve already got a ton of questions!" Grinned Aria, a gleam in her eyes.
"Well, don’t get your hopes up too high, she might not show up at all, so-...," I began, before trailing off as the doorbell rang.
Huh, never mind, then.
Aria bounded after me as I headed for the door, before unlocking and opening it. Cleo was standing there with a hesitant look on her face, before relaxing as she spotted Aria.
"Hi, there," Aria greeted her with a smile.
"Uh, y-yeah, hi," She nodded awkwardly.
"Come in and make yourself comfortable," I remarked, as I held the door open.
"Yeah, okay...thank you," She replied, before hesitantly stepping inside...
