Sinner System-Chapter 406: Monster System (Part 1)
"Okay, that was the twelfth group, right? Which just leaves two more, who wants to go next?" I inquired, as I stretched my arms out.
A little over fifteen minutes left before I’m done with this, and then I can go home. Naturally, none of the students so far have managed to land so much as a single hit on me.
I may be holding back by a lot and going easy on them, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to let myself get hit.
There were a few students here with Ace Potential, but as far as Power Level goes, none of them are any higher than low K-Rank or so.
Well, to be fair, they are only just about a third of the way through their time at the Academy, so they’ve still got plenty of time and room for improvement, there’s no need to rush them any further.
My goal here is to give them a bit of extra impetus and motivation, to drive them to put in more effort and improve faster, I’m not here to do anything drastic or extreme.
But, uh...not sure if I’ve accomplished that, the students who’ve sparred against me aren’t exactly looking especially motivated.
A lot of them look kinda dejected, especially those with Ace and K-Rank Potential, I guess not even coming close to landing a hit on me has been a bit of a blow to their egos.
I guess it’s fine, it’d be counterproductive if they ended up getting overconfident and too full of themselves. And if this is enough to break their spirits, they were probably never going to make it far as Hunters to begin with.
Anyway, as the next group stepped up, I ran a quick Appraisal on each of them.
Hm, this one’s definitely pretty unbalanced, they’ve got three Support Mages, a Healer, Detector and Protector, one Attack Mage, a Fire Mage, and one Combatant, an Assassin.
I took my place in the arena, waiting for them to begin. The Fire Mage made the first move, launching a volley of fireballs towards me, before the Assassin shot forward, drawing out a curved dagger.
The Support Mages are basically just spectators...the Healer isn’t going to have anything to do unless there’s friendly fire like there was with the first group, the Detector has nothing to do no matter what in this situation, and since I’m not attacking or fighting back, the Protector’s in the same boat too.
I jogged across to evade the fireballs, before twisting my body across as the Assassin leapt towards me and drove his dagger at my stomach, grimacing as I grabbed his wrist.
He stumbled forward as I abruptly let go of his wrist, before backing away as more fireballs came zipping out towards me.
Hm, decent accuracy, but poor situational awareness with the direction and aim...the flames are keeping the Assassin from getting closer.
"Aim your attacks a bit higher, at around head or chest level," I called out, the Assassin swiftly getting low and lunging at my legs as the Fire Mage made the adjustment without much trouble.
Not bad, they’re fast learners.
As the Assassin and fireballs closed in on me, I swiftly squatted down, the flames shooting past the top of my head, before I reached out and grabbed the Assassin’s wrist as he drove his blade towards me.
The instant I caught his wrist, he let go of the blade, starting to reach for it with his other hand, grimacing as I smacked the dagger away before he could grab it, the blade hitting the floor with a clatter and skidding away, right as a barrage of fireballs came shooting towards me.
I let go of the Assassin’s wrist before springing back up onto my feet and taking several swift paces back, evading the flames without any trouble. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
The two of them continued attacking fiercely, attempting some pretty impressive moves and tactics, but they were simply way too slow to hit me.
They were both visibly exhausted by the time the timer hit the seven minute mark, the Assassin collapsing onto his knees with a weary gasp, beads of sweat pouring down the sides of his face.
"Not too bad, your skills are impressive, and the way your coordination with each othet kept steadily improving was remarkable. Keep this experience in mind, use it to determine your areas for improvement, while also refining your strong points," I remarked, as the pair took a moment to catch their breath.
They trudged off the arena before much longer, before the final group stepped forward, making their way towards the arena.
Alright, I can wrap things up after this round, and then go home. Let’s see, it’s a group of six.
A Brawler, Wind Mage and Enchanter with K-Rank Potential, a Pulverizer and a Lightning Mage with Q-Rank Potential, and finally-...hm?
What the...?
That Aura...it’s really lacking in scale and intensity, it’s barely even at J-Rank level. On top of that, the hue...what color is that? It’s like a murky mix of a bunch of random colors swirling around.
The person it belongs to, they’re hanging back, almost as if they’re hiding behind the others.
But...even a slight glimpse of a person is enough to cast Appraisal on them, right?
<Yes, it is>
Then...how come I’m only getting five displays?
<Something is interfering with Appraisal>
<However, I should be able to overcome it without much trouble>
<Okay, there we go, I’ve-...oh, this is unexpected>
Hm? Let’s see here:
