Single Wish: Rise Of The Omniscient Paragon-Chapter 613 : 612: Leaving The Town
Despite his curiosity about Luke, his family, and their goal of saving him, Corey decided to listen to Luke and went upstairs to rest.
It wasn't like he didn't need the rest, he needed it. From the moment he appeared in this strange world of the second Tribulation of Hell, he had not rested and had been moving for so long.
Taking a short rest till the danger of the night was over was not going to be harmful, although he was still going to take precautionary measures to ensure that he was aware of any plans or intentions Luke had for him.
One of Luke's girls guided him to the empty room upstairs, and when Corey observed and inspected every corner of the room, he didn't see nor sense anything suspicious in the room. Everything about the room was normal, and there was also no warning from his instincts.
'So there are no traps in the room?'
Corey furrowed his brows slightly in thought, and then he nonchalantly shrugged. He went to the bed, touched it a few times, and then sat on it with his back on the headrest and his legs crossed. Sitting on the bed with the skeleton on his back was extremely uncomfortable for him, but he shrugged it off and focused on more important matters.
His legs moved as his mind recalled everything he had gone through in the second Tribulation of Hell. He thought of what he might go through after the night was over, and he resumed his journey to the Mountain of Giza and the Altar of Hell.
'When I leave this town, I'll have to run so that I can reach the Mountain of Giza quickly. My experience here has shown me that speed is key in surviving and maybe passing this Tribulation of Hell.'
'This is just the beginning of the second tribulation, and I had to fight a being that was comparable to a Half-Step Tier 6. The swarm of locusts and the meteorites even gave me a more dangerous feeling than that strange entity.'
'I can't imagine what I'll have to face as I progress in the tribulation.'
Corey exhaled, and then he yawned.
"Hmm. I guess I was really tired."
Corey shook his head softly, and then his mind started formulating plans, calculations, and simulations on the possible events that could occur even in the home of Luke and his family.
Unexpectedly and unknowingly to Corey, as his mind was strangely focused only on his thoughts, he failed to realise and notice one important detail.
From the moment he entered Luke's home, he had stopped hearing the voices of those who were hiding in their homes and several other buildings. The voices, sounds, and whispers of even the smallest of things were no longer heard by him.
It was like his Ears of Omniscience had been blocked by an unknown power, and Corey's hearing was now like that of a normal Tier 2. What was worse and more horrifying was that Corey was unaware of this, even with his numerous Stars of Consciousness.
An unknown amount of time went by, and before Corey knew it, he slept off on the bed with a peaceful expression.
As the horrors of the night moved across the nameless town, looking for any unfortunate and unlucky soul, Corey experienced a peaceful, true sleep for the first time since the apocalypse began on New Earth.
Meanwhile, the hollow sockets of the skeleton flashed with a black light, and for a moment, its bony mouth curled upward in what looked like a smile.
Time went by, and then the night passed.
Ten minutes after daybreak, Corey's eyes slowly fluttered open. A confused and lost expression appeared on his face for a few seconds, and then he looked around.
It took him five seconds to recall everything that happened, and when he did, his eyes widened in disbelief and horror.
He instinctively tried to jump off the bed, but the moment he tried this, his expression drastically changed, and he fell on the ground, producing a rather loud thud for somebody his size.
Corey groaned softly as he pushed his body off the ground. He sat on the ground, and then he looked at the skeleton on his back.
Previously, the skeleton weighed 1500kg, however, its weight had drastically increased to 7,000kg. If before it was like he had a car on his back, now what he had was a large truck on his back.
This increase was so sudden that it took Corey by surprise, and if not for how sturdy his Demi-Paragon body was, he would have severely injured himself when he tried to throw himself off the bed.
'Why did the weight of the skeleton suddenly increase by so much? What caused it? Was it because I did not leave the town before nightfall? Or was it because I… slept?'
'Slept?'
'I slept, and I can't remember how?'
'How is that possible? What happened? How did I sleep? How long did I sleep? And what happened to me when I slept off?'
So many questions and thoughts appeared in Corey's mind as he observed the skeleton, his body, his mind, and his surroundings. To his confusion and surprise, there was nothing wrong with his body or his mind.
He was not injured in any way, and he could not find any sort of manipulation in his mind.

'If nothing was done to me while I was asleep, then what made me sleep, and why did I sleep?'
The moment Corey had this thought, his mind went to Luke and his family, and he knew that he had to ask them questions.
Corey quickly adjusted to the new weight of the skeleton, and then he went downstairs. As he did, a part of him was expecting an attack from Luke and his family, but to his surprise, he saw nothing.
Instead, the moment his eyes landed on Luke and his family, his eyes widened in sheer disbelief at what he was seeing.
He saw Luke hammering a nail into the skulls, hands, and legs of his wife and children with a wide demented smile. What was also horrifying was the fact that his wife and children had wide smiles of joy even in their horrifying deaths.
"Oh?"
Luke turned towards him with a surprised expression, and then he chuckled.
"Although your state of existence is low, you're clearly unique." Luke chuckled with a wide bloodied teeth, and then he held a knife to his throat with the same wide smile.
"Although I couldn't kill you, I'm sure they'll be pleased with my actions and would accept me."
Before Corey could even open his mouth to speak, Luke pierced his throat and then he fell to the ground with a loud thud.
Corey looked at all of this with a deep frown, and although he could have stopped Luke from killing himself if he truly wanted to, he decided not to because he realized that everything that was occurring around was trying to make him waste time.
If he decided to stop Luke and question him for answers, he would be wasting more of his time, and who knew by how much the skeleton's weight would increase.
Corey took one last glance at Luke and his family, and then he walked out of the house. Some minutes later, Corey walked out of the town and began his journey to the Altar of Hell on the Mountain of Giza.
