Chapter 77: Descriptions

Jax looked at the strange multi-color stone icon in his Inventory and tapped on it. Through the Inventory, he could see the description of the Spell Stone.

Twin Strike: When used, the next physical attack you perform with this weapon will deal the exact same amount of damage once again.

It had been a while since Jax had heard about Spell Stones, but he still remembered enough about them that he didn’t need Gemma’s help in understanding them. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

Spell Stones were minor spells, mostly ones that only a Warrior could learn, that could be placed onto a weapon in order to use it. The weapons were required to have a Spell Slot, which was difficult to come by.

Jax had his other axe that he had received from the dead old man, which had 6 empty slots. He could later try it out on that axe, assuming he had the strength to even pick it up.

Jax told Gemma what he had received, and she sounded excited about it.

"A Spell Stone this early on is quite impressive. As expected of a 3-Star gift box," she said. "Check the staff. See if it has any Spell Slots."

Jax frowned. "I don’t know if I want to bring out the staff here," he said, looking around at the many people that were still in the hall. He didn’t want to bring out anything in their presence.

"You don’t have to bring out anything. Just check the descriptions in your Inventory. See what it can do."

Jax frowned. "I can do that?" he asked.

He hadn’t been able to do that with his first axe since he apparently needed something to analyze the item before he could learn about it.

"You only need those things for things you get in the wild. If you get it from a gift box, it comes unlocked."

"Ah! Alright, let me see."

He tapped on the ’Thundercloud Staff’.

[Thundercloud Staff]

Equipment Type: Sorcerer’s Staff

Spell Slots: 0

Runes: 3

Sound spell deal 30% more damage.

Lightning spell deal 20% more damage.

Increased Durability.

A perfect staff for any sorcerer with strong spells that deal sound and lightning-based elemental damage.

"Huh?" Jax thought. "I thought I had received a quarterstaff. But it appears it’s instead a Sorcerer’s Staff."

Jax had seen other Sorcerers take staffs and wands with them, which helped them a lot with their spells. He had always wondered if he could ever receive one that he could make use of.

However, with just a single spell, it was difficult to imagine staffs being of much use, since he needed to do other things for his lack of options in a fight.

"I wish I had Lightning or Sound Stones so I could unlock those elements. This staff would be quite useful if I had that. Without it, there’s no point to this staff at all."

Gemma seemed to have the same thought as well. After reading up on the description, she came to the same conclusion. "The staff has nothing of what you would need. You might as well sell it for some Opal stones."

"Yeah..." Jax said. "I need 2000 Opal stones anyway."

It hurt to think how much he would have to work in order to gather all of that, but Jax didn’t regret it for a single moment. 2000 Opal stones for his life was a bargain and a half in his mind.

"Where is that damn man?" he thought, searching for the red-haired young man named Carlton, but he couldn’t see him at all. But he would have to come by the circle anyway, so he waited there.

He pressed on the ’Larger Steel Flask’ and checked its description.

[Larger Steel Flask]

Equipment Type: Utility

Spell Slots: 0

Runes: 3

20x larger Interior Space.

20x slower Time Dilation.

Reduced Weight

A perfect flask to hold and preserve a large amount of liquid.

Jax didn’t think he would have to worry about bringing this flask out, so he did. It was a simple-looking flask from the outside, which seemingly could hold about 2 slimes’ worth of water. Considering the interior space was 20 times larger, it would hold up to 40 slimes’ worth of water.

That was nearly one-fifth of his current Inventory size. That was a lot of water that he did not have to keep in his Inventory anymore. This was something he would definitely keep.

"So the staff goes, and the flask stays," Jax said. "That reminds me, can you tell me what a spell called ’Spellbreak’ does? I received it from the Kobold Boss."

"Yes, I already looked it up. It’s a spell that one can use to break out of any controlling type of spells, with a lingering effect that makes targeted spells unable to activate when used on them."

Jax frowned. "It was not conditional?" he asked. "The boss could only use it when it was constrained for a long time."

"The boss’s spell was slightly modified so that it could only use it if it was unable to do anything for more than 5 seconds. This one is the unmodified version that can be used anytime."

"I see," Jax said. "What would happen if I learned this spell instead?"

"You would have a spell that could constantly keep other spells from being used on you," Gemma said. "It would have made a lot of sorcerers and monsters useless when you fought them."

A small smile formed on Jax’s face as he imagined such a possibility. In the end, however, he had gotten Divine Threads, and he was quite happy with what he had received.

He chatted with Gemma for a bit, all the while searching for Carlton. People began leaving the hall one after another as they got registered, and it wasn’t long before Jax realized that Carlton had already left as well.

’How am I supposed to pay him back if I don’t know where he went to,’ Jax thought. But that was a question for later.

For now, it was time for him to leave the hall and walk out into the world of the 9th Carriage.
