Single Spell Sorcerer-Chapter 148: Spots on a Leopard
Chapter 148: Spots on a Leopard
Roman helped where he could, supporting Jax and Melayne. "Boost coming your way!" he called out, casting his ’Enhance Strength’ on Jax, and ’Strong Edge’ on Melayne. He waited for a moment to see which one of the two attacked more than the other, and applied the Holy Touch spell to Melayne’s attacks, letting her attacks deal an additional Light elemental damage.
It wasn’t a lot, but it added up.
Melayne’s attacks already had another element in her attack, her flaming runic sword had always dealt Fire damage, so the two elements together began doing more damage to the boss.
Her attack was, however, destroying Jax’s threads as it was all around the Boss’s body.
Ning circled the battle, his spear ready but unused. His eyes were constantly scanning the Iron Leopard’s body, searching for the critical spots that would allow him to end the fight quickly. But the creature’s constant movement and the threads wrapped around its body made it difficult to locate the weak points.
"I can’t find the critical spots yet," he said, frustration creeping into his voice. "They might be hidden within the threads."
As Melayne, Jax, and Lucille continued their coordinated assault from all directions, something changed. The Iron Leopard’s body began to shift and transform. Its form became much more slender, its legs longer and more graceful. The metallic fur grew longer and more lustrous, taking on an almost liquid appearance.
"It’s changing phases!" Lucille warned.
The Needle Fur spell activated again, but this time it was far more destructive. The projectiles were larger, faster, and more numerous than before. They filled the air like a metallic storm.
Jax’s threads were not only torn but ripped apart.
"Roman!" Jax shouted as he ran. Just as he appeared before the boss, Roman’s spell landed on him.
Enhance Strength and Guard Assist.
Jax took the damage head on, letting the others in an area behind him. They huddled up immediately, the two warriors protecting the sorcerers.
Roman immediately healed Jax the moment the Needle Fur was over, but Jax was still in pain after the heal. He would need another heal as some of the Needles had managed to slip past the plate armor and were digging inside his leather.
Jax turned around, ready to join the fight again, but Ning stopped him before he could.
"Wait!" Ning shouted. "I need to see its spot. Wait for me to find it."
Jax froze just as he was about to use his spell and nodded. "Let me know when you find it."
Ning used his spells to dash around the leopard, searching for its weak spot. He found one almost immediately now that there were no threads around its body.
"Got it!" he shouted. It was on the creature’s neck that was briefly visible through the metallic fur. "Use your spell."
Jax acted instantly, wrapping the beast in more poison threads.
"Roman! I need a boost!" Ning shouted.
"On it!" Roman replied without hesitation, giving him Enhance Speed and Enhance Strength.
The moment the spell took effect, Ning exploded into motion. He ran directly at the Iron Leopard, his spear was already positioned for the strike.
The boss was caught off-guard as the weapon pierced through the creature’s metallic fur and struck its neck, hitting the first critical spot with perfect accuracy.
The Iron Leopard let out a roar of pain and rage, its eyes blazing with fury. It had taken in many attacks, but not a single one had been more devastating than this one.. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
"Nice!" Ning shouted as he stepped back. "I will find the next one after it changes its phase again."
"It won’t!" Melayne shouted. "The Leopard only has two phases."
A lot of boss monsters only had two phases. Ning hadn’t known that about the leopard, and even Lucille was surprised. Her analysis spell hadn’t told her that. She wondered if she was meant to analyze it again after the boss changed its phases.
Jax quickly took back his threads. He knew there wouldn’t be another phase either, so he allowed Ning to take a look at the boss’ body to find the second critical spot. Taking back the threads returned some Navi to him anyway, so he hadn’t wasted much.
"Find the spot and attack. I will use my spell after that."
NIng nodded and went around the beast, while Jax and Melyane distracted it by attacking it.
"Jax!" Lucille’s voice came from the back. "Don’t use your poison threads next. Use your water threads."
Jax took a step back as the boss tried to swipe its claws at him and turned toward Lucille with a confused look. "My water threads? They’re useless for binding since they’re more flexible."
"Don’t worry," Lucille said. "I have a plan."
Jax didn’t argue and simply nodded.
Ning spotted the other spot at the boss’ hip. That spot was only the second of the five total Critical spot a boss usually had, but Ning didn’t necessarily have to find all five spots. In a way, hitting a single spot on a boss meant dealing immediately 20% damage to its total health.
With his party members alongside him, even doing just 2 attacks meant he was dealing 40% of the damage. That was a lot of help to them, and he would likely be considered the higher damage dealing contributor.
But of course, without his party, he would have no chance.
"I got it!" Ning shouted the moment he found the spot and moved back, letting Jax use his spell.
Jax’s instinct told him to use the Poison threads, but he trusted his leader and used his water threads instead. Blue threads appeared around the boss, binding it in the flexible thread. The leopard had way more mobility this way, which Jax didn’t like at all.
However, before he could question the command, the large octopus flew past him and landed on the boss, suddenly covering the entire boss within it. The boss struggled, but it couldn’t get out of the Octopus.
Weak as it was, the water threads were a big help for the octopus.
