Chapter 1024: Chapter 1021: THE BOOK OF DEATH

Two hours later, everyone was back at the mansion and all eyes were once again on Diamond.

When they arrived, they were all dying of curiosity, wanting to ask Diamond about the book. But when she alighted the car, they saw her holding the black book which emitted an ominous feeling which made everyone fear getting anywhere closer to her.

And now that they were inside, Diamond was standing while the rest of them were sitting and a mischievous smile was on her face as she held the book.

"As you can see, I returned the book. Unfortunately, you can’t touch it. Those who come into contact with it, your lives will be forfeit!" Diamond explained to the family, not lying to them at all.

There was a reason why the book was called the Book of Death. Of course, it wasn’t the legendary book of death that was talked about in the legends and myths, but rather a replica the dark faction put so much effort into making.

And all the effort put in so that they may take down Zara’s first incarnation.

Just how powerful was she to have made these people put so much effort and resources into this project?

No wonder the system was also interested.

When the family members heard that, they all looked at the book with dread and fear.

The book might be important, but not that important for them to sacrifice their lives.

"Child, now that you find the book. How are we going to deliver it?"

"Yes. Even if we use a fast jet, we will still be too late!"

Everyone once again descends into a moment of worry, recalling the issue of delivering the book. And who would dare carry that book with him or her when their lives were at risk?

Diamond smiled mysteriously upon hearing that.

"Don’t worry. I will deliver it shortly. Which leads me to the second issue I want to talk about!" she said mysteriously, as her gaze swept over the family members in her presence.

"Tell us whatever you need, we will give our all."

"Just say a word, and it shall be done!"

Diamond beamed upon hearing that.

"Perfect. I just need you to hold your horses for a brief moment. Whatever happens, you are not allowed to freak out. And in the process, wait for me patiently until I arrive!" she squinted her eyes, speaking encrypted words which made the others wonder what she was talking about.

"D_" However before Erica could ask Diamond, to let her elaborate further on what she meant, "Ah~~~~", a scream filled the room, and "thud" some people fainted as something extraordinary happened in front of her eyes.

"W-what, what just happened?" Erica mumbled a question as she patted her chest with shock while looking at the place where Diamond was standing a while ago and now no longer there.

Erica wasn’t the only one in shock. Even Donald was sweating buckets as he recalled how Diamond vanished from the spot a while earlier, without warning, nearly sending his poor soul out of his body.

Didn’t she know that they were old and could kick the bucket at any time?

As for the weak-hearted, they had fainted already.

Bradley, Mitchel and Raize all looked at each other, their bodies trembling, and fear coursing through their bodies.

They couldn’t help but recall Cecilia’s words at this moment. "Don’t mess with her. She is someone that we mustn’t offend!"

And her words were finally making sense, especially after seeing this spectacular scene.

While they were in the middle of collecting their thoughts, Diamond appeared once again in the same spot, but this time without the book in her hand.

"Ah~~~~~" shocking those who were still holding on to their sanity into screaming or fainting, adding the number of people who would need to be treated later.

Looking a bit fatigued, Diamond said to the startled people, uncaring of those who were unconscious on the floor and tiredly said, "The book has been delivered. Zara will live to see another day!"

Upon saying those words, Erica, who was feeling as if her soul was about to leave her body, pulled herself together as she looked at Diamond with a blooming smile on her face, happy with the news she had just received.

"Child, this ..... is what you said true?" the old lady’s voice trembled as she asked Diamond.

Diamond smiled at Erica and nodded. "Um. It is true. So, you can all rest now. I will be going upstairs. Don’t disturb me. I need to rest!" she added, her tone more of a statement, leaving no room for any negotiations before leaving.

If she waited for longer, who knows what these people would continue to ask? She had expended too much energy and needed to collect herself.

She couldn’t die just because she was feeling nosy. There were still people waiting for her out there. With that attitude, Diamond took the elevator upstairs and went to retire in her room.

As for the shenanigans outside, it was time for the family to step up. She can’t help them with everything.

After Diamond left, the Hansleys all looked at each other and, as if they could communicate using telepathy, they hurriedly took out their phones and started making calls.

It was a busy day and one that had everyone smiling. With all the worry and anxiety gone.

----****----

Meanwhile, inside the Golden Space, Diamond looked weary as she soaked inside the spiritual water, looking quite drained and that flawless silver hair flowing in the water.

"Are you satisfied after sacrificing so much?" the fairy sister gnashed her teeth as she angrily glared at the tired Diamond.

Diamond didn’t bother to look at the fairy sister. She had been angry for a while now, but what could be done?

She sighed as she closed her eyes, and tiredly responded, "there is a reason everything happens. The fact that I was given such a mission, to save Zara, that poor soul. Then perhaps, it was already destined that this shall be my fate," finding the whole situation quite hilarious.

All she wanted to do was save Zara, and to do so, she vowed to do everything in her power even if it meant sacrificing a thing or two. But who could have told her that the sacrifice and the price she had to pay was that huge?

Rewinding to several days ago.

After Zara left for Rozinya for her second wedding, Diamond, feeling helpless went into seclusion after promising the Hansley family that she was going to find a solution. With a few days remaining until deadline, she was on the verge of losing it.

She was just an amateur when it comes to metaphysics. The random prediction skill wasn’t as powerful as she hoped this time. her only bet was on learning the new skill.

As she vigoriously and solemnly studied with everything that she had, the fairy sistser exited her seclusion.

After learning what she was doing, she told her about ways to increase her knowledge and skill very fast, however it was very costly.

Because there is always a price to pay when seeking what the heavens doesn’t wish to be found, if continued to seek for answers, then the price might be too much for her to spare.

Her stubbornness didn’t allow her to give up when the finishing line was just in front of her. but little did she expected for the price to be a bit too much.

"You might need to sacrifice your cultivation," the fairy sister had told her, and to be honest, she was shocked.

She had been cultivating for over a year and yet she was very strong and was very happy with her current state. She didn’t need to worry about robbers, or other people wishing to ambush her. She didn’t even need to worry about having bodyguards or not, and yet with this single answer, she started hesitating.

Was it really necessary for her to lose her cultivation just to find a darn book?

As she was contemplating, the system that had been playing dead all these days emerged.

[A method to track the last relic – the book of death – has been found. Mission: Do everything in your power to locate the book. Reward: ?. Failure: Zara’s death and an endless cycle of nightmares.]

The system came out, issued a task and this time came with threats. Diamond was at a loss when she received that mission. the system was practically forcing her into giving up her cultivation. She didn’t even know what the consequences of doing so will be and yet .... Did she even have a choice?

It took her quite a while inside the space to finally come to terms that she didn’t have a single choice. Since that was the case, she told the fairy sister that she was willing to use that method, and the fairy sister nearly blew off the space with anger.

However, seeing her determination, the fairy sister could only let her sit down cross-legged and imparted the method to her.

And she was shocked.
