Chapter 1016: Chapter 1013: USING ALL RESOURCES TO FIND THE BOOK

Inside the living room, the Hansleys were gathered. As the matter was serious, even those who had never shown up before were in the room.

There were the grandparents who sat with Zara, their eyes filled with worry. Lena and Cade sat next to each other with Lena hurling insults at the children, who were getting on her nerves.

The children’s mothers were also in attendance, which was a rare scene. After all, despite being the children’s mothers, these women were living their own lives and yet they were there at the meeting.

The children themselves were there alongside their spouses, but the children weren’t there.

Other people present were Cade’s siblings.

Cade was the first-born child and had two younger siblings behind him.

The second-born child was called Adela, currently sixty-six years old, married twice and has two children who were a few years younger than Zara.

The last-born child, Donald Junior, was sixty-two years old, married to a foreigner and living in that country for decades now.

His wife was younger than him by over a decade and together they have three kids, with the oldest being the same age as Zara.

Cade’s siblings never fought for the family’s empire. They were never interested in getting shackled by it, so they both did what they loved the most. So, the family has always been harmonious all these years.

And yet on this day, it was chaotic.

"Are you telling me that you want my baby to die? Wait for her death because you are all cowards who want to play the pig when the whole country knows you are tigers already?" Lena wasn’t having it at all.

Diamond, watching all this drama, regretted not going to the hotel and agreeing to stay at the Hansleys’ mansion.

Why did she even come here?

Come and witness how messy other people’s families are.

She wasn’t going to waste her precious time witnessing all this, so she slammed the table, shifting everyone’s focus from the fuming Lena to her.

With an icy expression on her face as she fanned herself, Diamond, without caring that she was a guest, coldly said, "I don’t care what messy thoughts you all have and what sly ideas you have. Since I am here, then I guess you don’t have much choice but to follow me!" playing with her fan casually, her actions sending shivers down the spines of those who knew how powerful that fan was.

"You_" However, those who didn’t know Diamond that well, couldn’t help but want to butt in, but that icy glare from her shut that person up.

"I am not speaking for you to butt in. You had your moment already, and now it’s my turn. I don’t care what worries you have and concerns regarding your positions and whatnot!" Diamond said as she looked at everyone in the room, her domineering actions making Zara applaud inwardly, happy at seeing these siblings of hers suffering a huge blow. "If you can’t use your own forces, then use theirs. Just offer a great bounty for the book. Who knows who has it? As long as the money is right, then the book will naturally come to you. Until you have the book in your hands, no one will even suspect you. Aren’t I right?"

Listening to Diamond’s reasoning and suggestion, everyone in the room went silent.

Diamond didn’t add anything after saying that. But simply stood on her feet and excused herself. No one tried to stop her as they were too busy digesting what had been said.

When all makes sense, even those who were opposing couldn’t help but sigh dejectedly.

"I guess that this one can be done!"

"Um, we have many channels. So, let’s just do that."

"If we follow this, then joining in the frenzy won’t make us look suspicious!"

Looking at these people agreeing to this suggestion, Zara felt cold as she looked at her siblings. For a moment, she thought that everything was okay between them.

But who would have guessed that when finding the last relic, all of them would act like this?

Was her survival that detrimental to their beings?

Did it really pained them to see her living even for a day?

If she had revealed that she only had a month, would they even put in more effort?

Seeing them like this, she doubted that. Maybe it was a good thing that she didn’t say it.

At least for now, they can do their best or act like it to help her find the relic.

Just wait until she finds it.

If she ever survives this and gets on her feet, she is going to punish them and make them taste what despair is like.

Didn’t they all love their businesses so much that they dared to throw away her life?

It wasn’t like she salivated for their positions. She wasn’t interested in them at all and yet even at death’s door; they didn’t want to let her be.

How selfish could they be?

Zara felt cold just thinking about all this.

If it wasn’t for Diamond, who knows how long everyone would have spent to find a solution?

Feeling depressed and disappointed in everyone, Zara looked at her grandparents and said, "Grandpa and Grammy, I am feeling tired. I want to go and rest!" her voice was not too low for everyone to not hear.

All eyes suddenly turned to her, but she ignored others and just concentrated on the two elders.

The two probably understood what was going on in her head. They couldn’t help but pat her hands comfortingly without saying a word.

Zara forced a smile as she looked at the two and mumbled, "I will be fine. It’s been a long journey!" though her tone sounded as if she was choking.

Lena, seeing that, glared fiercely at her stepchildren before looking at her husband and coldly snorted before standing on her feet.

She walked to where Zara was before stopping in front of the three and respectfully said to the elders, "Mother and father, I will send darling to her villa for a rest!" her tone though, was not of asking but a mere statement.

At this moment, the elder couple understood that Lena was pissed off and that maybe getting Zara away from this place was the best.

They didn’t dare quibble with Lena but sent the daughter with her mother.

Watching the two and the several servants leaving, the older couple fiercely glared at the rest.

Seeing that gaze, they couldn’t help but shudder as they looked away guiltily.

"I don’t care how you do it, but if I don’t see any movements in the following days. If I sense that you are intentionally making things difficult, then watch me as I donate everything I have to charity," Donald scoffed as he looked at his children and grandchildren.

Erica added, "You have grown so many wings that you even dare squash a person’s hope in front of her. Let us just wait for the day that you get sick as well. Umph, I hope that at that time when you are in your end’s wit, your baby sister won’t be holding a higher position. Who knows if she holds grudges?" supporting her husband as she stood up, irritated with everyone’s conduct.

Getting scolded by the elders, how could they even dare utter a single word?

In the end, they watched as the elder couple left with a huff, even their backs screaming, ’We are very disappointed in you,’ that they felt very ashamed of their actions.

With the elders gone, Amir stood on his feet, a cold glint in his eyes as he looked at Bradley, the brother-in-law he had once signed a business deal with a few months ago.

"I don’t really care how special you all take these business deals as. I don’t lack money and trust me with a single phone call. Disregarding the relationship that we have right now, I can take back what I gave!" he threatened as he looked at Bradley, completely not caring about the relationship between them.

Bradley never expected Amir to be this rude and disrespectful. He was his brother-in-law in some sense and yet he dared to say such things?

However, seeing how cold the other seemed to be at this moment, he couldn’t help but shudder, unable to retort at all.

Amir, feeling disappointed by this family, snorted as he left the room, leaving the Hansleys alone.

Cade stood on his feet; disappointment written on his face. He looked at the children he had given his all and never discriminated against regardless of birth and felt that he was a joke.

There was so much that he wanted to say, and yet he felt that he would be wasting time by doing so.

Without saying a word, he left the room, leaving everyone dumbfounded.

Adela and Donald Junior looked at their nephews and nieces and shook their heads disappointedly.

They had watched how these siblings nailed their younger sister on the cross when the clocks were ticking like this.

They couldn’t help but shudder and felt relieved that they weren’t the ones who continued the family empire.

If they were a bit greedy, wouldn’t they also suffer in old age when one day these wolves in sheep’s clothing come after them?
