Showbiz Scandal: The Official Announcement of My Ex and Myself-Chapter 169: The Manager Senses Something Amiss
There are many people filming in the film city, it’s a mixed crowd, and security can’t be as perfect as in the city center, so occasionally you hear about sasaeng fans stalking, deranged fans harassing, and similar things happening here.
But since nothing like that has ever happened before, and since Xie Qingci said it so eerily, everyone was a bit worried.
You can’t help but wonder, what if Xie Qingci hadn’t run into that person?
By then, when Yu Xia returned to her hotel and opened the door, she would be frightened by those disgusting photos, and then that person would come looking for her. If she accidentally got tricked into really opening the door, would she be harassed in the middle of the night?
The more you think about it, the more terrified you become, and everyone involuntarily looked at Yu Xia.
Yu Xia frowned tightly, her face cold as she said, "That person knocked on my room door last night. He said he had my phone number, that he’s an actor from the crew downstairs, and he used to know me, even said it was me who actively left him my number, but I don’t know him at all."
Everyone exchanged glances, and someone suggested, "It’s best to switch to a better hotel. It’s really frightening to have someone knock on your door in the middle of the night. If that person had brought something like a knife yesterday, wouldn’t Yu Xia have been in trouble?"
He Ci, who hurried over later, was both shocked and angry, and directly said to the director, "Let’s change hotels, Director Zheng. Today, Yu Xia was lucky to run into Xie Qingci, who came back to the hotel first. Who knows what might happen later? And who can guarantee that other actors won’t also encounter this situation?"
The director was just about to speak when Xie Qingci hissed softly, and then his manager looked up from his phone, with the amicable smile gone from his chubby face, saying:
"We do need to move, let’s switch to that newly opened one. Director Zheng, we need to take the initiative in this matter, we can’t wait for others to break the story and write nonsense."
What followed was the crew and the manager discussing.
The decision was made to switch hotels; the others immediately went back to pack their things. Yu Xia called Mei back and stayed in the lounge herself to watch Xie Qingci wrap up his wounds.
"Does it hurt?"
Xie Qingci looked at her and shook his head, "No, it doesn’t."
"Did that person really shove photos under the door?"
"Yes, nude ones. I handed them over to the police."
He sat looking up at her, softly saying, "Don’t be afraid."
Her nose tingled, and she turned her gaze away, asking again, "Is there anywhere else you’re hurt?"
"No more."
It was that psycho who got beaten quite badly. He went full force; if Manager Yang hadn’t come quickly, he would have broken another bone of that guy.
But there were indeed some consequences, Mr. Yang quickly noticed something.
He lowered his head, eyelids drooping, biting his lip, looking the most innocent and pitiful.
Seeing this, Yu Xia’s heart softened, yearning to hug and kiss him.
At this point, Xie Qingci’s manager came in from outside, his gaze sweeping over the two of them.
He Ci emerged from behind him, stretching out a hand to Xie Qingci:
"Thank you so much for today. Is the wound serious? I’ve ordered half a month’s worth of soup for you to speed up the healing, and later I’ll have Yu Xia’s assistant bring it over. Is the injury okay?"
Xie Qingci stood up and shook hands with him, his tone very polite and courteous: "It’s alright, He, no need to be so formal."
Mr. Yang made a noise of ambiguous intent, which He didn’t hear, but Yu Xia sensed something and glanced back, only to see Mr. Yang giving her a polite smile.
Her mind was preoccupied with Xie Qingci’s injury, not noticing anything amiss, so she returned a smile, and turned to talk to He Ci.
The process of changing hotels was resolved quickly. Although the conditions of the new hotel were about the same as the previous one, the management was much stricter. There were access controls in the lobby, requiring a room card to swipe in, greatly enhancing security.
With this incident in the crew, the director announced a half-day break, and both He Ci and Xie Qingci’s manager went out, leaving only the assistants behind.
Yu Xia was packing the luggage they’d moved over, pondering when to visit Xie Qingci, thinking it must be when there’s nobody around since he would probably be whiny and want a kiss...
Her expression wasn’t great, so Mei didn’t dare speak much, leaving the room in silence, making the sound of the phone vibrating particularly clear.
There was no need to guess who was calling at this time; a glance proved it was indeed her "Hong Hong" classmate.
She answered, and on the other end, Xie Qingci quietly asked if she could come over.
"My assistant has gone to get lunch, over at that food street outside. Sister, could you come and see me?"
The food street outside was quite far away; a round trip would take at least ten minutes.
Yu Xia, with her softened heart, agreed without hesitation.
She thought for a moment and called Mei along too.
Xie Qingci’s room had the same layout as hers, but there were very few things. He was sitting alone on a chair, staring at her from the moment she walked in.
Upon seeing Mei, he furrowed his brows slightly but said nothing.
"Sister..."
"What happened to your leg?" As soon as Yu Xia entered, she noticed his leg; his long pants had been changed to shorts, exposing his pale calves, with a particularly pronounced bruise on them.
She quickly stepped forward, squatting down in front of him, poking the spot, tightly pressing her lips: "Didn’t you say there were no other injuries?"
"I didn’t feel it hurt at first; I only noticed after coming back."
Xie Qingci pulled her up, letting her sit on his lap.
Mei had already closed the door, her eyes looking up, fumbling as she stood in the corner playing with her phone.
She avoided seeing or hearing anything untoward, wondering what she did wrong to become the only one who knew the truth, making her endure such intimate moments in awkward silence, digesting the scene before her.
Sigh.
Hearing the door close, Yu Xia’s words faltered for a second, thinking Mei was quite considerate, then braced herself on Xie Qingci’s chest and asked, "Does your leg hurt?"
He tilted his head against her shoulder, nodding pitifully, "It does."
Then he leaned close to her ear and softly asked, "Could you give me a kiss?"
Yu Xia was prepared, kissed him with care and even kissed near the wound on his collarbone.
After kissing, she caressed his face, lowering her voice to ask him, "I was wondering why you weren’t angry at all last night, you’ve been holding back wanting to hit someone, haven’t you?"
"I was angry," he enjoyed their close-knit whispers as if the whole world was just the two of them, "so I broke his hand."
Yu Xia widened her eyes at him, then said after a moment, "Were you okay when the police took your statement?"
"No problem, we’re the victims here. Did you encounter such things before?"
She shook her head, "First time, but there were instances when fans pretended to be waiters to get signatures and photos."
After saying a few more things, she softly instructed him, "In the future, if you’re upset and fighting, make sure to keep yourself safe first."
He obediently nodded, saying alright, and then requested, "Kiss me again."
She obliged, gently stroking his slightly scratchy short hair as she comforted him.
Then she heard him lazily say, as if fully relaxed, "Mr. Yang said I was just doing a good deed, no need to be so heavy-handed."
Yu Xia paused, "So what did you say?"
"I didn’t need to say anything, he directly asked if I liked you."
