Shinji Matou at Your Service-Chapter 1070: Everything’s Suddenly Fired Up
Chapter 1070 - 1070: Everything's Suddenly Fired Up
What started as a proper off-road race suddenly took a bizarre turn.
To borrow a classic line: It's all chaos, chaos everywhere. The entire northern region—no wait, the entire outskirts of Fuyuki City—has turned into a complete mess.
"Move aside, move aside! The Macedonian Conqueror is too heavy and hard to control. Don't blame us if we crash into you!"
That was Iskandar and Waver—they had started playing bumper cars.
"Hehehe~ shotgun, cannon shot, slashes, and piercing strikes!"
That was Illya, the only one who could attack without any restraint.
Why? Because she wasn't using Noble Phantasms or magecraft. She was using Magic. And it was legitimate Magic, as her magic wand was engraved with the crest of Zelretch.
"Oh no, I've lost control! Watch out for turbulence!"
Without a doubt, that was Lorelei. When she accelerated earlier, she had carefully managed the airflow to avoid disturbing those around her. But now? She wasn't holding back. She was deliberately enhancing the turbulence, leaving only a narrow passage for herself and Altera.
Seeing this, Rin and Luvia couldn't help but get fired up.
Gilgamesh's manipulation of the Disc was growing more skilled, constantly creating obstacles.
Karna's Mana Burst was becoming more frequent, turning the once smooth path into a chaotic mess.
Fiore, ever the professional referee, had completely given up: "Ah, do whatever you want. I'm not dealing with this anymore."
"Referee! Pull yourself together, Referee!"
Olga Marie shouted dramatically.
And so, for most of the contestants, the off-road race had turned into an obstacle course.
As for the others...
"Oh! It's turning into a full-on brawl!"
On the mountainside road overlooking the race, Shinji stood with a bag of chips in one hand, the other shading his eyes as he watched the chaos unfold below.
"I knew it would turn out like this. I never doubted their ability to cause trouble."
"So, that's why you didn't use a professional race car and opted for rollerblades instead?"
Scathach asked, munching on chips herself.
"Of course. For a speed race, rollerblades wouldn't work. But for an obstacle course? They're perfect."
Shinji nodded proudly.
"There's more to it, isn't there? You're planning on taking shortcuts, aren't you?"
Another hand reached over, not for chips this time, but to hand over two cans of soda—symbols of freedom. The man who always carried such drinks was none other than Roman, the one who cherished freedom above all.
As the situation grew more intense, Roman brought the medical team over. Their mode of transport was the same as Shinji and Scathach's.
"Obviously. The rules don't forbid taking shortcuts, do they? I'm not just going to take a shortcut myself—I'll take Sakura and the others along with me... Oh, here they come. You must be tired after riding for so long. Have some drinks and snacks, then we'll continue."
As soon as Shinji spotted the grandma's bicycle coming into view, he glided over and handed the drinks and snacks from Roman to the two women on the bike.
"Thank you, big brother."
"Thank you."
"This guy..."
Roman shook his fist at Shinji's back but quickly withdrew it when Shinji turned around, acting weak and helpless, which made Scathach laugh.
"How long do you plan to keep up this act?"
"Act? What act? What am I acting about?"
Roman looked innocent, fiddling with his ponytail.
"Is this fun for you?"
Scathach shook her head in disbelief, while Roman nodded seriously.
"As long as I don't run into someone as powerful as you, it's a lot of fun."
"Powerful, huh... Powerful indeed..."
Scathach sighed, but Roman ignored her, waving to the nurses as they rushed down the mountain.
"Someone flipped their car! Hurry, let's go rescue them!"
"Following Lancer Cu Chulainn's Gáe Bol Car, the second team to be eliminated is Iskandar and Waver's team. Although they initially held an advantage due to the weight of the Macedonian Conqueror, they eventually fell victim to the same inertia caused by that weight."
No matter how skilled a driver, there are times when the car flips. Iskandar's ambitions were too great—he tried to take out both Altera and Artoria in one go, but the two teams worked together to pull off an extreme counterattack on the bend.
With Llamrei II and Great King being relatively lighter, and having the Invisible Air and wind-based magecraft, they narrowly avoided crashing into the guardrail. The massive Macedonian Conqueror, however, couldn't stop in time and flew off the track.
"Aaaaaaaaah!"
"We're going to fall!"
The two men inside the vehicle screamed in unison.
At that moment, another vehicle shot off the track. This time, no one had lured them off—they had driven off on their own, with two women shouting in unison.
"I won't let you fail! As long as I'm here, the King's chariot won't be harmed!"
"Teacher, I won't let you drop out halfway!"
Since they had driven off voluntarily and didn't slow down, Faker and Gray arrived at the Macedonian Conqueror's landing spot first. Master and Servant combined all their magical power to stop the heavy vehicle from sliding down the mountainside, pushing it back onto the track.
After exerting all their strength, the two petite women and their vehicle had reached their limits, collapsing on the roadside, only to be loaded onto stretchers by the medical team arriving from the mountain.
Despite this, they still called out:
"King—"
"Teacher—"
"—You must win the race!"
"Faker!"
"Gray!"
Iskandar and Waver, their eyes brimming with tears, quickly adjusted their vehicle and set off once more.
"Charge, Waver!"
"Yes, My King!"
By now, Artoria, Altera, and the others had pulled far ahead. Given the condition of the Macedonian Conqueror, catching up seemed impossible.
But so what? Should they give up because of that?
What a joke!
"Glory lies ahead!"
"It's precisely because it's so far away that the challenge is worth it!"
"Sing of conquest! Show our might! For the subjects who watch from behind!"
"For the disciple who trusts me with all his heart!"
"—We will never lose!"
"—We will win!"
Despite being left behind, the two men felt no despair. Instead, their hearts overflowed with excitement, nearly leaping from their chests. Together, they shouted the battle cry of the one who had conquered three continents—Europe, Asia, and Africa.
"AAAALaLaLaLaLaie!!"
Upon hearing the familiar roar, Shinji, still standing on the mountainside, was utterly baffled.
"Why are they suddenly so fired up?"
"Because you men are, in some ways, simply foolish," Scathach commented.
"Huh?"
Now thoroughly confused, Shinji was about to ask more, but Scathach spoke first.
"Stop 'huh'-ing. It's time for us to get moving too. If we don't leave now, we'll fall behind."
"Oh! Right!"
And so, the group that had been lazing around resumed their race once again.
