She Lost Memory Before the Divorce-Chapter 63 - 0: Thrilling
Chapter 63: Chapter 063: Thrilling
Mu Lan looked at Huo Tingxiao, who had shielded her behind his back, her eyes filled with a trace of serenity, while the enraged girl, feeling embarrassed, snatched her hand back to confront him.
“Who are you to meddle in others’ business?”
“I’m her husband.”
The coldness in Huo Tingxiao’s voice made the girl’s face turn pale.
“Your wife is flirting around here, seducing someone else’s boyfriend and even getting physical, and you still…”
“Seducing? With him?”
...
Both the responses from the couple were exactly the same, causing the onlooking crowd to sway like grass in the wind.
“With a husband as handsome as him, he’s not out of his mind. It looks like this young girl is suffering from severe delusion.”
“Exactly, it seems like the guy failed to hit on her and started slinging mud.”
“Oh dear, this beauty is really pitiable.”
The sudden turn of public opinion caused Mu Lan to smile sarcastically. These so-called spectators didn’t care about the truth at all. They just wanted to enjoy the drama, comment a few biased sentences to vent their emotions, careless if their words wrongly accused someone, easily brushing it off as a misguided attempt to help, unconcerned about the harm they might inflict on the innocent.
“I—I didn’t!”
The boy attempted to deny it, but Huo Tingxiao scoffed.
“There are surveillance cameras; retrieving the footage won’t be hard.”
“I don’t want to stoop to your level, I…”
Mu Lan watched as the boy looked guilty and the girl’s eyes filled with disappointment. She couldn’t help but speak out.
“Being coddled and treated like a princess by your parents all these years, now you’re acting like a nanny for such a man, paying for his mess, how humiliating. Is it worth it? Do you think I slapped you just to teach you a lesson? I did it to wake you up! Girls need to have self-respect, love themselves first, before anyone else can love them.”
Mu Lan, seemingly oblivious to the tears in the girl’s eyes, took Huo Tingxiao’s hand.
“Let’s go. Don’t let it spoil our mood, we were supposed to have a happy day today.”
Huo Tingxiao grasped Mu Lan’s hand in return, nodded, and pushed the cart toward the escalator leading to the first floor.
The cries of the girl and the boy’s continuous denials followed them; it was a farce that Mu Lan no longer wished to pay attention to.
“That’s why I dislike supermarkets.”
Mu Lan looked up at Huo Tingxiao and couldn’t help but laugh.
“Don’t like human nature being so transparent?”
“Don’t like you being too attractive.”
“…”
The man had started again, acting nonchalant, his words tantalizingly flirtatious.
“Thanks for standing up for me just now.”
“Just a verbal thank you?”
Mu Lan was caught off guard, staring at Huo Tingxiao’s lips curled with a playful smile.
“What else do you want?”
Noticing his gaze dropping to her lips, Mu Lan subconsciously bit her lower lip and even shamefully backed away a little.
In such a public place, they had already become the center of attention; they better not draw more eyes now.
Averting her gaze, Mu Lan casually walked towards the fresh produce section.
“Then I’ll cook myself, how about that for sincerity?”
Caught by Huo Tingxiao’s grip, Mu Lan turned back, her eyes filled with puzzlement. What now, is this also not okay?
“Let’s go out to eat.”
“Then let’s just buy some random groceries to keep on hand.”
After a walk around, Mu Lan noticed even the fish vendor lady was giving Huo Tingxiao extra looks.
She deeply regretted suddenly suggesting a visit to this damn supermarket, not only encountering weirdos but also being gawked at everywhere.
After buying a bunch of miscellaneous items, they lined up to check out. Just as Mu Lan was about to scan her phone, Huo Tingxiao blocked her.
Seeing him about to pull out his wallet, Mu Lan quickly covered his hand.
“Please, don’t tell me you’re going to pull out your black card, right? Want to be gawked at even more?”
Huo Tingxiao frowned, as he never carried change when he went shopping, having long been accustomed to using a black card. Was there a problem?
“Be good and listen to me.”
The way Mu Lan coaxed him like a child made Huo Tingxiao’s heart itch with frustration. In his moment of distraction, she had already completed the scanning.
Although they didn’t buy much, they ended up spending several hundred dollars.
The two left the supermarket and headed straight for the underground parking lot. As soon as they had placed the items in the trunk, Huo Tingxiao suddenly glanced in the four o’clock direction.
“Get in the car.”
Mu Lan, puzzled, opened the car door while asking.
“What’s wrong?”
Although she was only five feet five, which wasn’t short, today Huo Tingxiao was driving a Rolls-Royce Cullinan SUV. The SUV had a high chassis, and seeing her struggle a bit, he immediately took action, picked her up, and seated her in the passenger seat before closing the door.
Mu Lan looked dumbfounded at Huo Tingxiao as he walked around the front of the car to the driver’s seat and quickly started the car, driving out of the parking lot.
“If something happens later, run towards the crowd.”
“What do you mean? Is someone following us?”
Glancing up at the rearview mirror, he noticed two black cars that had been following them.
“I’ll call the police.”
As she reached for her phone.
“Wait, we don’t yet know who they are.”

“But…”
“Listen to me.”
Gripping her phone, Huo Tingxiao started driving towards the downtown area.
If they were heading to Maple Forest Garden at this time, the area near the villa would be the perfect place for an ambush. If these people were really after them, they would have no chance to retaliate.
Mu Lan felt somewhat guilty. Usually, He Jin would accompany Huo Tingxiao on his commute. Today, there was no assistant or bodyguard for their private outing. If she had known this would happen, she would have stayed home obediently.
Seeming to catch her thoughts, Huo Tingxiao spoke indifferently.
“They’re just some trivial people, not worth bothering about.”
“Mhm.”
Though she said she didn’t mind, Mu Lan kept nervously watching the two cars behind them.
As the pursuers got closer and the sky grew darker, suddenly, a truck appeared from the opposite direction, causing Mu Lan’s eyes to widen as she blurted out,
“Huo Tingxiao, watch out!”
Huo Tingxiao reacted faster, fiercely turning the steering wheel towards a small road on the right. Mu Lan quickly took out her phone to check the nearby road conditions.
“There’s a T-intersection up ahead.”
A T-intersection? Huo Tingxiao sneered slightly at the corner of his lips and continued to accelerate, ignoring that the traffic light ahead was almost red.
In a split second, he turned sharply. The cars behind them failed to notice the road condition in time to brake and drove straight off the shoulder, overturning.
While the other car managed to stop, the tires screeched loudly and abrasively.
“Screech—”
Watching those people get out of their cars frantically, Huo Tingxiao narrowed his eyes.
He made a phone call to He Jin.
“Check the surveillance cameras near Ballbond Road for the two black cars involved in the accident, and report it to the police.”
“An accident? Mr. Huo, are you alright?”
“I’m fine, but we don’t know who they are.”
“Alright, I’ll look into it.”
Just after hanging up, Huo Tingxiao looked at Mu Lan next to him, only to find her hands covering her head with a pained expression.
“What’s wrong?”
Mu Lan’s features contorted together, the headache was so severe she couldn’t utter a word.
