She is the Side Character! — Watch Her Change her fate!-Chapter 86: The Innocent Superstar Is Not to Be Messed With 36
"What are you doing?"
The intermittent sound of shoveling came from downstairs, making it impossible for Qin Yun to ignore it. She had said she wouldn’t look anymore, but she couldn’t resist. The voices below were too far to hear clearly, and coupled with the sound of shoveling, it all felt unsettling.
She pulled open the curtains abruptly and saw Ah Chen and Shi Wei standing in the woods.
Su Yuixin stood a little further away, unable to see what Shi Wei had unearthed, but she was startled by Qin Yun’s sudden shout.
Fearing a dispute between Qin Yun and Ah Chen that would turn ugly, she offered an explanation: "Mom, Miss Du said she buried something there when she was a child and wants to dig it up and take it with her."
Qin Yun frowned, looking down at Ah Chen with a displeased expression, but she didn’t intend to do anything more.
Since Du Chen had something there, it was better to dig it up and take it away, rather than leave it to annoy her family.
She had only one hope now—that Du Chen would never appear before her again. As for any provocation, Qin Yun honestly didn’t dare.
"Miss Du, please dig quickly, and once you find it, take your belongings and leave. I am not feeling well today, and it’s not a good time to entertain guests." She paused here, trying to make her tone as calm as possible, not forgetting that Du Chen had a tenacious nature, "These are trying times; if there’s nothing important, Miss Du, there’s no need to make a special trip here; we truly cannot host visitors."
Ah Chen smiled and responded, "Alright."
Just as Qin Yun was breathing a sigh of relief, Ah Chen added, "But Aunt Qin, I may not be able to find what I hid. It seems someone has already disturbed this place."
"Just now, Teacher Shi unearthed a hand bone, and I don’t know if it’s a prop or real. It gave me quite a scare." As she spoke, Ah Chen moved closer to Shi Wei, as if genuinely frightened.
Shi Wei knew she couldn’t possibly be scared; she was incredibly bold.
If he hadn’t insisted on coming along, she probably would have ventured out on her own.
Yet he still held her, as if reassuring her not to be afraid.
Ah Chen glanced at him, her eyes conveying a message, as if to say, Teacher Shi was very cooperative.
The two of them simultaneously glanced at the hand bone in the dirt, feeling a mix of emotions.
Shi Wei felt this might be proof that the truth would eventually come to light, that evil couldn’t remain hidden forever.
Ah Chen pondered that delving into the Commissioner’s memories was still useful. In the Commissioner’s mind, the impression of the first family photo was deep, and she once dreamed of having a family photo of her own. It was precisely because of that vivid image from the Commissioner’s memory that she felt this trip might yield different results.
What she didn’t expect was Su Zefang’s audacity in blatantly placing the evidence out in the open.
Perhaps he hadn’t even noticed those trees.
Or maybe he noticed, but since no one else did, he was secretly pleased with himself.
In just a moment, Qin Yun and Su Yuixin were frozen in shock at Ah Chen’s words.
Su Yuixin hurried over, staring at the white hand bone, uncertain if it was real or a prop, her face turning pale with fear.
Qin Yun snapped back to reality and said angrily, "What nonsense are you spouting? How could there possibly be such a thing down there?"
She thought Du Chen was causing trouble, and finally couldn’t hold back, turning and rushing downstairs.
"Du Chen, do not go too far. You have made my Su Family restless, and now both father and son are not yet released. What more do you want?" Qin Yun was livid, her anger almost erupting.
She had already compromised so much, and yet Du Chen was relentless.
If she had known it would come to this, she would have sent Du Chen to an orphanage to fend for herself when she first discovered she wasn’t her daughter.
"What can I do to your Su Family?" Ah Chen sneered softly, "What happens to the Su Family is up to what your Su Family does."
She looked down at the hand bone, "Whether it’s real or a prop, we wouldn’t dare touch it further. We’ll know when the police arrive; Teacher Shi has already reported it."
Hearing that the police were coming, Qin Yun almost fainted from anger.
Looking at the ominous white bone in the dirt, an inexplicable chill crept over her, forcing her to take a few steps back. This couldn’t be real, right? If it were real, hadn’t their family been living here with remains for who knows how many years?
There was even a pavilion where she often drank tea.
The more she thought about it, the more unsettling it became, her complexion worsening and her body wobbling slightly.
Su Yuixin quickly supported her, intending to guide her to a seat, but given the proximity to the hand bone, she had no choice but to instruct the help to bring a chair over.
The wait was excruciating, and although Qin Yun wished to drive them out, it was no use without verifying the truth of the matter. Besides, she might not succeed in chasing them away.
"What do you think, is it real?" Qin Yun whispered to Su Yuixin.
Su Yuixin shook her head; she didn’t know.
If it was fake, that would be good.
She feared it might be real.
"Mom, before we moved in, who lived in this villa?" Su Yuixin asked, thinking it through.
Unexpectedly, the question drained the color from Qin Yun’s face, causing her body to tremble with fear and disbelief.
Because this villa had been their home from the beginning; before they moved in, no one else had lived here.
During the construction of this villa community, the Su Family had participated, so they could choose a particularly good location. Even that patch of trees had been planted after moving in.
"Mom?" Su Yuixin cried out from the pain of her hand being squeezed and had to call out.
Qin Yun’s bloodless lips moved slightly, but in the end, she didn’t speak. She released Su Yuixin’s hand, lowering her head, unsure of what she was thinking, suddenly seeming to lose some of her vitality.
Su Yuixin wasn’t foolish; linking it to her father’s and brother’s previous incidents, she involuntarily looked at the bone’s position. Could this be real and somehow connected to her father?
She felt a chill spreading through her entire body.
Her gaze gradually shifted to Ah Chen; Ah Chen and Shi Wei were seated on a nearby bench, and although she claimed fear, her composed demeanor belied that.
It was as if she had unearthed a long-buried secret, waiting for the outcome.
She did it on purpose!
Su Yuixin felt another rush of cold to her head, but how did Du Chen know something was here?
She quickly retraced Du Chen’s actions upon entering, focusing on the family photo and this area, where Du Chen lingered the longest. Rapidly scanning the surroundings, she finally noticed the anomaly.
It’s the tree.
That tree is bigger.
Had it not been for today’s actions by Du Chen, she might never have noticed.
Su Yuixin realized something and quickly dashed into the living room.
"Xinxin," Qin Yun called out weakly, unable to follow.
She had already realized something.
Ah Chen merely glanced up, making no other moves.
It seemed Qin Yun wasn’t involved in this matter, though she likely had an inkling. Su Zefang, after all, was her spouse; she should understand him, but never anticipated the family’s yard harbored a life lost.
Unsure if the one buried was Nie Yanbo.
Su Yuixin stood in the living room, gazing at the family photos.
A scene once full of happiness now left her feeling cold.
Indeed, it was the tree!
If this had something to do with her family, hadn’t she inadvertently helped...
