Shattered Time-Chapter 36 – “The Mirror Doesn’t Blink”
Chapter 36 - 36 – “The Mirror Doesn’t Blink”
The next morning, Kael asked for a mirror.
The nurse hesitated, gave a tight smile, and said they didn't have any.
Which was a lie.
Every room had one.
He'd seen it yesterday.
But now—nothing. The wall where the mirror once was looked... patched. Sloppily. Like something had shattered and they didn't want anyone to notice.
But Kael noticed.
Of course he did.
He always noticed the cracks.
Aya was gone when he woke up. No note. No message.

No goodbye.
His notebook was still there. Except now, the red cover had turned... black.
He touched it and pulled back—burned.
Inside, the pages were empty.
Except one.
"Check the mirror in Room 304."
Kael's heart thumped once. Then again. Harder.
Room 304 had been closed since the fire.
Everyone said it was locked.
Everyone said it was gone.
But the hallway wasn't sealed today.
He walked, slow and barefoot across the cold hospital floor. No nurses in sight. No footsteps. Not even a breeze.
The door to Room 304 was open.
Just a crack.
Enough.
He pushed it.
The room was pitch black.
And in the center—just one thing:
A tall, cracked mirror.
Covered in black tape.
Kael walked closer.
He should've run.
He should've screamed.
But he didn't.
The mirror hummed.
He reached out and peeled back the tape.
One strip.
Then another.
And finally, he saw his reflection.
But it didn't move.
Didn't mimic him.
Didn't blink.
Kael stared into his own eyes, cold and dull.
Then the reflection whispered:
"You took my place. Now give it back."
And the mirror shattered.
But Kael never moved.
Because he was still inside it.
Trapped.
While someone else... walked away wearing his skin.
