Shattered by Fate, Restored by Truth-Chapter 318: Hug me, and I won’t be mad anymore.
Chapter 318: Chapter 318: Hug me, and I won’t be mad anymore.
"So it’s not me who came to look for you; it’s you who came to look for me."
Fu Shihan fell into silence for a while before slowly opening his mouth. After hearing this, Su Wanxin made a sound of agreement, nodding and saying "okay."
She was being too obedient, all the sharpness she had towards others gone, so soft and cute that Fu Shihan wanted to take the opportunity to argue with her about how outrageous she’d been during the day, but he couldn’t bring himself to do it.
He was genuinely angry. He’d been spinning his wheels overseas these past days, all so that he could come back early to see her.
But when he returned and saw her, all he got was a cold shoulder.
There was a moment when Fu Shihan actually considered just letting it be. If she wanted a divorce, then let it happen, and let’s see who would regret it first.
Whoever bowed their head first would be the loser, and by then, even if she begged him to reconcile, he wouldn’t agree.
But it was just for a moment, and then he understood. The one to bow his head first would be him.
If he personally cut the thread that tied them together, perhaps it would never reconnect. So, he threw the divorce agreement away, not wanting to even look at it again.
"Hold me."
Fu Shihan looked into her eyes and said softly.
"Hug me, and I won’t be angry anymore."
Su Wanxin was startled, then cried as she embraced him. She lay on his shoulder, weeping uncontrollably.
Familiar scent, warm embrace. She just wished this dream would never end, that it would never wake.
"I’m so tired."
Her tears soon dampened his clothes, and Fu Shihan frowned as he listened to her weeping.
"If there’s a next life, I don’t want to be your amulet anymore, okay? You have to be safe and sound, very safe."
She asked tentatively, her words filled with unease and fear.
"I don’t want to be an amulet anymore, I want to go home, I miss you, I miss Aunt Mo. It wasn’t on purpose, really not on purpose. I don’t know why I stepped on the gas pedal, I can’t remember."
She cried bitterly, as if all the sorrow she had suppressed in her heart over the years was being cried out.
She clung tightly to the person before her, as if once she let go, she would never be able to embrace him again.
Fu Shihan’s heart ached with each beat as he listened to every word she said, recalling the first time he’d seen her.
It was many years ago, but the memory was still vivid in his mind.
The little girl with braids wearing an old white dress, shyly looking up at him.
Her beautiful face was filled with defiance, but her lovely eyes flickered with despair.
Fu Shihan was never one to be soft-hearted since he was a child, but at that moment, his heart suddenly softened.
He didn’t know what she had endured in the orphanage, but he knew he wanted to take her away, didn’t want her to stay there and suffer anymore.
When she was little, she was very thin and tiny.
After following him home, she was too scared to leave her room for several days, until finally, Fu Shiyi lured her out to play with a new doll he’d bought.
Later on, she grew braver and started calling herself ’Brother Han’s’ like Fu Shiyi did.
One day after school, Fu Shihan came home, and she pulled him into the dining room, pointing at a piece of cake on the table that had only a small bite taken out of it, and said to him, "Brother Han, this is delicious, you should eat it."
A dessert made by an all France MOF Winner was bound to be delicious. So she took a bite and couldn’t bring herself to eat any more.
...
Fu Shihan reached out to embrace her, gently patting and comforting her.
He still had anger in his heart, but it was anger at himself.
"You’re not an amulet; you’re my treasure."
He kissed her forehead and hugged her weeping, weakened body while softly coaxing her.
"Don’t cry, be good, wait for me to take you home. I promise you, I will definitely take you home."
