Chapter 29

This young girl was around 5 feet 3 inches tall, slim, with fair skin. She wore a tender green dress that flowed gently, and her big, watery eyes reflected his figure, causing an unexpected flutter in his heart.

Su Xuan was momentarily taken aback.

Then he replied, “Su Xuan.”

It was just a name, nothing secretive about it. Su Xuan had no reason to conceal it.

However, what he hadn’t anticipated was the way the girl’s eyes immediately lit up after he spoke his name. With quick, pitter-patter steps, she approached him and took out her phone.

“Police officer, your name sounds so nice. Can we exchange phone numbers?”

“If not, can we at least become chat buddies?”

To be honest, in his many years of service, Su Xuan had never encountered a girl who directly asked him for his phone number.

He hesitated for a moment. He truly intended to decline, but for some reason, after looking into her eyes, he inexplicably pulled out his phone.

The girl’s actions were swift as well. Before Su Xuan even had the chance to object, she scanned his QR code.

“I’ve sent it. Police officer, please agree!”

She urged him on.

What else could Su Xuan do?

He could only click the “Agree” button. With the girl finally satisfied, she nodded, and since she could see that Su Xuan had more pressing matters, she didn’t cling to him. After obtaining his contacts, she left.

The surrounding crowd was caught off guard and watched the gossip. At this moment, the way they looked at Su Xuan was a little strange.

Although Su Xuan was a grown adult, he had never encountered this kind of situation in real life before, and his composure wavered slightly.

He grabbed the thief on the spot and walked in the direction that he came from, successfully distancing himself from the gossiping crowd.

“Police officer, I really didn’t do it on purpose.”

“I’m not a criminal! Can you let go of me?”

The thief, pushed along by Su Xuan, was still trying to deceive him. Uncertain whether Su Xuan knew his identity, he feigned the aftereffects of the hits he had taken moments ago. “My head hurts so much!”

“Officer, this isn’t right. You can’t take me to the police station like this. I need to go to the hospital for a medical examination!”

“We’re all members of the public. How can you hit me?”

“Let me tell you, if you don’t take me to the hospital, we won’t able end this peacefully…”

The thief pondered for a moment, and with a hint of testing in his voice, he continued, “Or, you could let me go, and I’ll go to the hospital on my own.”

“Officer, you see, it wouldn’t be ideal for me to show up at the police station like this. How about I go to the hospital first for a medical examination?”

“Of course, if you release me, I won’t pursue this matter. I’ll pretend I never saw you today…”

Hearing these words, Su Xuan let out a cold laugh.

He hadn’t expected this guy to still be holding onto foolish hope, even now. Did he really think that by trying to threaten him, he would let him go?

Dream on!

“No problem, you can file a complaint if you want. Feel free.”

“But today, you’re coming to the police station, no ifs or buts.”

Su Xuan had already led the thief to the spot where he had separated from Zhou Qiang, who had been waiting for a while.

Seeing Zhou Qiang standing alone with a smile on his face, Su Xuan knew that he had probably already detained the criminal in his car. Su Xuan approached him without hesitation.

As soon as Zhou Qiang saw Su Xuan bringing the thief over, he walked up to them.

Looking at the criminal in Su Xuan’s grasp, he raised an eyebrow and quipped, “Bro, you wrapped this up pretty quickly, huh?”

He hadn’t forgotten that Su Xuan seemed to have caught the fastest runner among the thieves.

“Yeah,” Su Xuan replied succinctly, without going into much detail.

Zhou Qiang glanced at the injuries on the thief’s face but refrained from asking too much.

After all, he had already witnessed how Su Xuan had promptly subdued a criminal using a hammer earlier that morning. Judging from the state of this thief, he had probably been dealt with in a similar manner…

To be honest, Zhou Qiang hadn’t previously considered that catching criminals could be this efficient!

But in reality, it worked remarkably well.

Thinking back to how he had apprehended his own criminal, Zhou Qiang couldn’t help but smile.

He immediately spoke, “Let’s go, press him in, and head back!”

Zhou Qiang had already captured a thief, who was now sitting in the car.

“Sure.”

“It’s good timing too. We’re about to hit lunchtime back at the station.”

“How about you treat me to this meal? That wouldn’t be too much, right?”

The original owner’s bank account didn’t have much money left, and meals at the station required money from a meal card. Su Xuan thought that if he could mooch off the situation, a free meal was better than anything else!

“Sure thing.”

Zhou Qiang was now more than willing. He’d even be willing to order online and get a virtual version of an extravagant meal if asked.

“Forget it, I don’t need any extravagant meal. Just get me a regular lunch. Thanks.”

Su Xuan said as he placed the captured thief in the back seat and settled into the passenger seat. Zhou Qiang took the wheel.

“Wow, we actually caught two thieves again!”

Zhou Qiang glanced back at the two cuffed thieves in the back and exclaimed, “When we get back to the station, they’re going to be shocked again!”

Remembering the surprised expression on their superintendent’s face when they had brought back the human trafficker earlier, Zhou Qiang thought that Su Xuan was truly impressive!

In just a short span of time, they had caught two criminals!

However, Su Xuan shook his head.

To be honest, he hadn’t anticipated that he would be able to catch two thieves.

Had he been catching a lot lately?

Well, not really.

After all, the criminals had sort of just landed in his lap. He hadn’t actively sought them out…

Just as they were about to return, they arrived back at the station.

As expected, just as Zhou Qiang had anticipated, their patrol car had barely pulled into the police station when a group of people approached. Their eyes fixed on their car.

Zhou Qiang was the first to step out of the vehicle, and upon seeing this scene, he couldn’t help but mutter, “What are you guys doing here instead of having your meal? Why are you swarming around the patrol car?”

“Move, move!”

He had been looking forward to a bit of a grand entrance, but why were these guys all over them?

There was no sense of excitement or tension in their attention.

“Zhou Qiang, did you guys catch anything this time you went out?”

“Is Su Xuan really that amazing? Did he take you with him to catch criminals?”

“Oh my god…”

“Why are you not saying anything? You didn’t actually catch more, did you?”

“If that’s true, then I’m seriously envious! How did I end up not patrolling with Su Xuan today?”

“Damn, so jealous!”

As they were talking, Su Xuan also stepped out of the car, escorting two apprehensive thieves.

“These two were pickpocketing by the seaside. Zhou and I each caught one.”

“One of them managed to escape though.”

Su Xuan handed over the thieves to the interrogation expert at the station and continued, “I’m not sure if there are other gangs involved, so that will be your job to investigate.”

Hearing this, the two thieves exchanged a glance, both feeling nervous.

They hadn’t expected that in their lifetime, they would actually end up in a police station, and as criminals at that!
