Secretly Mine-Chapter 153: Searching for Her [Christian POV]
Chapter 153: Searching for Her [Christian POV]
An hour had already gone by since the start of the event, and Leslie still hadn’t shown up.
Something feels off. She should be here by now.
I rolled off the bed and walked over to check myself in the mirror before stepping out of my room. My stomach began turning from the amount of unease I was feeling.
Surely she isn’t still with him?
My mind pictured her smiling face as she looked at Lucas. It made me feel so uncomfortable. Thoughts of how I would pull her away from him flooded my mind as I entered the elevator.
Maybe she just couldn’t sneak away. Don’t jump to conclusions, Christian..
I took a deep breath just as the elevator doors to the lobby opened. In front of me were three hotel staff, all with push carts that were filled with food.
"Excuse us, sir," the closest staff said, bowing his head slightly.
I glanced at all of the food with surprise, "Is there a party happening somewhere?" I asked curiously. There were at least a dozen dishes, and while all of them were covered, I could smell their appetizing aroma.
"Ah, no, sir. This is just all room service," the staff member replied.
Someone ordered that much food?!
I was initially surprised, but then I thought of the food I normally ordered for Leslie at the office. There were always multiple dishes, covering the entire coffee table. My lips curved into a small smile at the thought.
If I were with her, I’d probably order that much room service too.
I quickly made my way over to the event hall where the auction was already in full swing. As soon as I entered the dimly lit hall, I scanned the surroundings for Leslie. She was wearing a gorgeous golden dress that was hard to miss, even in the sea of people, but after scanning through the crowd multiple times, I couldn’t find her.
Morgan was sitting beside Cherie and the daughter of the Lombardi family. I really didn’t want to walk up to them, but I had to know where Leslie was. Not only could I not find Leslie, but I also couldn’t find Lucas.
Did he take her somewhere? I swear if he so much as touched her...
A protective anger surged inside of me. I began to imagine that under the guise of a good friend, he pulled her out and took advantage of her.
I need to find them!
Before walking over to Morgan, I pulled out my phone and sent Zach a message.
[I need you to help me find the second Miss of the Moresi family. She’s missing.]
After putting my phone away, I walked over to Morgan. She was busy trying to outbid the other two girls beside her and was slightly startled when I came over.
"Oh, Christian! You’re back! How was the meeting?" she asked, fluttering her eyelashes at me.
"It was fine. I have a question for you. Have you seen your sister?" I asked, trying to remain calm.
Morgan frowned, "Why do you care about her? She’s around here somewhere. Probably hanging around that church boy."
"I just wanted to make sure she was okay," I said, and turned to scan the hall again.
Morgan shrugged, "No idea. She likes to hide." Her care for Leslie was very evident in her tone, telling me that even if Leslie was abducted, she wouldn’t waste a second trying to find her.
Anger welled up inside of me. They were sisters, but why did Morgan have such disdain for Leslie? I felt the phone in my pocket vibrate and excused myself.
[Christian. I checked some of the security footage, and about an hour ago, she was seen being carried by a man down the hall on the sixth floor.]
I nearly smashed my phone on the ground. Fury, rage, and worry all flooded through me. I was ready to kill someone if Leslie had so much as a missing strand of hair on her head. My body moved on its own, heading back to the elevators.
Just wait for me, Leslie. I won’t let anyone harm you.
I walked over to the elevator and pressed the button to call it a dozen times.
Faster, come on....
A second later, I turned to run down the hallway to take the staircase. The elevator was taking too long, and I couldn’t fight the thought that Leslie could be in danger.
As I sprinted up the staircase, I pulled my phone out and called Zach.
"What room did you see her go into?!" I asked. My nerves were on edge, causing my words to come out sounding fierce.
"From the cameras, it looked like it was the second to last door on the left side," Zach answered quickly. "Is everything okay? Why are you in such a panic? She’s probably just hooking up with some guy."
Zach, you’re a great friend, but sometimes I wish you just kept your mouth shut!
Without saying goodbye, I ended the call and tossed the phone back into my pocket.
I clenched my jaw, grinding my teeth to suppress the fury that was bubbling up inside of me. I knew Leslie; she wouldn’t do something like that on her own free will. If something was happening inside that room, it wouldn’t be by her choice!
Please, please don’t be too late. I’m coming, Leslie, hang tight!
The worry was eating away at me. I was already pushing myself to sprint at my top speed up the stairs, but I couldn’t help but feel that it wasn’t fast enough. All of the muscles in my body burned, but that pain was nothing compared to the anxiety of something happening to Leslie.
I ran up all six floors worth of stairs in a matter of minutes without a single pause to catch my breath. The moment I stepped foot in the hallway, I sprinted down to find the room that Zach described over the phone.
To think the culprit was directly beneath me this entire time!
Bang!Bang!Bang!
I knocked on the door with immense fury. My heart was pounding in my chest while the adrenaline coursed through my veins.
"OPEN THE DOOR, NOW!" I yelled, uncaring if I attracted any attention.
