Chapter 95: Chapter 95: He Specially Brought Breakfast

The first light of dawn trickled in.

Wren Sutton had slept very well last night, waking up only when morning came.

After washing up, she went to make breakfast, only to open the refrigerator and find it empty.

She gently tapped her forehead and gave a helpless smile.

The three large bags of groceries she’d bought at the supermarket yesterday were still in her car, and her car was parked downstairs from Isla Griffith’s place.

Since she couldn’t make breakfast, she would just have to eat out.

Wren Sutton changed her clothes, casually tied her hair into a bun, and headed out with a small purse, wearing no makeup.

Just as she reached the entrance and was about to open the door, the doorbell rang.

She could clearly see Spencer Sawyer standing outside through her smart video doorbell, a kraft paper bag in his hand.

Wren Sutton froze for a moment.

’It’s so early. What’s he doing here? Is it something urgent?’

She quickly opened the door. "Spencer, good morning. Is there something you need?"

"Good morning." Spencer Sawyer’s tone was gentle and his manner chivalrous. "I’m not disturbing you, am I?"

"Not at all. I was just about to go out for breakfast."

Spencer Sawyer smiled and handed her the paper bag.

"I made a few too many sandwiches this morning and can’t finish them all myself. If you don’t mind, I’d like to give them to you for breakfast. That way you won’t have to go out."

Wren was surprised. She hadn’t expected this at all.

"Oh, I couldn’t possibly. I haven’t done anything to deserve this."

"It’s not that serious. It’s just two sandwiches, nothing worth mentioning," Spencer said sincerely.

"And please don’t get the wrong idea. I don’t have any other intentions."

A wave of warmth washed over Wren. Unable to bring herself to refuse, she graciously accepted his kind gesture.

"Thank you, Spencer. In that case, I won’t be polite."

"Why don’t you come in and sit for a while?"

Spencer Sawyer politely declined. "I have to get to the office, and I’m a bit tight on time. I’ll come visit another day when I’m free."

Since he’d put it that way, Wren didn’t press the issue and replied politely, "Alright. Let’s get together when we have time."

After closing the door, she returned to the dining room. As she opened the paper bag, the fragrant aroma of food wafted out.

Inside were two deluxe sandwiches, a serving of congee with preserved egg and pork, and a fruit platter.

Wren sat down and took a bite of the congee. The flavor was just how she liked it—even better than what you could buy outside. The sandwiches were also incredibly delicious.

Wren’s mood lifted as she ate with relish, thinking to herself that she should make something delicious for Spencer another day to return the favor.

After finishing breakfast, Wren Sutton went to get her car.

She had originally planned to stay at Isla Griffith’s place for a while to chat.

But less than ten minutes after she sat down, her phone rang.

The call was from the old madam, telling her to come to the hospital because she had something to discuss.

...

「The Hospital」

Wren Sutton pushed open the door to the hospital room. The old madam was propped up against the headboard, watching TV.

The elderly woman was recovering well, and her complexion looked better with each passing day.

"Grandma," Wren called out affectionately as she walked over and sat beside the old woman.

"How are you feeling today? It doesn’t hurt anymore, does it?"

The old madam had a kind and benevolent face, and she beamed at the sight of Wren.

"It doesn’t hurt anymore. I should be able to leave the hospital in a few more days."

"That’s wonderful! I’ll come pick you up when the time comes."

"Good child. You’re so thoughtful."

Wren’s eyes curved into crescents as she smiled and adjusted the pillow behind the old madam’s back. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"Grandma, you asked me to come. What did you want to talk to me about?"

The old madam looked at her, her gaze warm and affectionate.

"Well, it’s like this. The Quinn Family is holding a full moon banquet the day after tomorrow. My dear old friend has become a great-grandmother, and she invited me, but I can’t possibly go in my current condition.

"So, Grandma was hoping you and Adrian could attend the Quinn Family’s banquet in my place."

Wren’s heart skipped a beat, but she kept her expression perfectly composed, revealing nothing.

The old madam’s request was reasonable and not at all excessive. Wren couldn’t find the words to refuse, nor could she bear to.

"I just called Adrian, too, but he’s in a meeting at the office and couldn’t come to the hospital, so I called you. You can tell him when you get back; it’ll save me the trouble of repeating myself." The old madam gently patted the back of Wren’s hand.

Wren snapped back to reality. "Okay, I’ll tell him."
