Chapter 66 -66: I Miss You

“What are you doing just staring at your daughter without eating all this delicious food?” Henry Ruiz knocked on the table. At this point, shouldn’t she be starving like him?

On top of that, Carolline’s connection with the Hawkins Family was not something they had just found out. Bryan Hawkins inviting Carolline for a meal would only make her extremely happy, and Bryan was an honorable man who wouldn’t do anything to harm Carolline.

“No, I just noticed that Carolline seems to be wearing a designer brand.” Carolline didn’t know much about fashion, but Emily Hill had heard a lot from people around her, so she was somewhat familiar with certain brands, especially the ones her two sisters-in-law had in the Ruiz Family.

Since their husbands were successful businessmen, their family’s living situation was better than hers. Many of the clothes in her closet were given to her by her sisters-in-law, some only worn once, and some never worn at all.

She didn’t mind taking their hand-me-downs, and besides, the things they gave her were indeed pretty good.

Carolline was wearing a brand that seemed to be something her sisters-in-law couldn’t afford, a brand so exclusive that money alone couldn’t guarantee you could buy it.

Emily Hill didn’t have many skills, but she did have a good memory.

“She’s all grown up, what’s the big deal about her wearing a designer brand? Besides, Mia Parker went shopping with her a few days ago, so Mia probably helped her choose it,” Henry Ruiz didn’t think much of it.

Emily Hill rolled her eyes at him, thinking that he was just being careless and unconcerned.

After sending Carolline back, Bryan Hawkins drove straight to the Temptation Pub.

Xavier Estrada and his associates had been waiting for a while in a private room. These people had all contributed to the Apricoom Building project, some as designers, some as decorators, and Bryan had invited them for a drink on short notice.

“Mr. Hawkins.” As soon as Bryan arrived, they all stood up and greeted him respectfully.

“Please, sit. There’s no need for formalities.” Bryan waved his hand, indicating that they didn’t need to be so formal since they were not at the company.

Everyone spent the night freely and unrestrained. These people not only worked on the Apricoom Building project, but many others as well. They were a group of capable assistants close to him whom he planned to cultivate further in the future.

“You all enjoy your drinks, I need to step out for a bit.” Bryan glanced at the time and felt it was about right.

He had chosen the Temptation Pub because George Morris and his gang of friends liked to frequent this place. Bryan rarely had the time to visit these kinds of venues, as he was a highly disciplined person, and didn’t believe that all business needed to be conducted in such a flashy environment.

However, not everyone was like him, such as George Morris, for example.

As soon as Bryan left the room, George Morris, who had drunk too much, walked out from the opposite side. The moment he saw Bryan, he quickly shut the door behind him.

Matilda Ferguson was inside the room as well. Recently, George and Matilda had been having an unpleasant time because of Bryan. Today, George had finally managed to coax her into accompanying him to a social event, but he hadn’t expected to bump into Bryan here.

George wondered if Bryan had intentionally come to annoy him.

“What a coincidence,” George said coldly, on purpose.

“Yes, quite a coincidence. However, many times, what appears to be a coincidence is actually orchestrated by someone. Don’t you think so, Mr. Morris?” Bryan replied with several layers of meaning behind his words.

“Bryan—” George stared at Bryan with an ugly expression, but at that moment, the door behind him opened, revealing Matilda Ferguson, who looked deeply infatuated with Bryan, calling his name, her voice filled with longing.

Her eyes were so full of love that they seemed to be dripping with water, and she looked intently at Bryan, having so many things she wanted to say to him.

“Miss Ferguson,” Bryan replied indifferently, not revealing any emotion, as if their past was already long forgotten.

Matilda involuntarily leaned back, grabbing the door handle just in time to prevent herself from falling in disgrace.

While she called him ‘Bryan,’ he referred to her as ‘Miss Ferguson’ with such a sense of unfamiliarity. She couldn’t accept how their long-awaited encounter had turned out like this, wondering why it was turning out this way.

Initially, George had been angry with Matilda for calling Bryan with such emotion, but when he saw how cold Bryan was to her, he was satisfied.

Matilda was already his woman, and he had really thought she wasn’t a virgin, only to find out later that she was. Naturally, he wanted to possess her completely.

He didn’t believe that Bryan would accept Matilda again, a woman who was now like a used item.

“I have other matters to attend to, so if you’ll excuse me,” Bryan finished speaking just as his phone rang at the perfect moment. He walked to the side to answer the call.

George, who had drunk a lot, was feeling very uncomfortable at this point, and seeing Bryan, who was only adding to his irritation, only intensified his urge to vomit. He rushed to the health room outside without wasting any more time.

After a moment of hesitation, Matilda followed him out.

After promising his grandmother over the phone that he would return home tonight, Bryan hung up, and when he turned around, he saw Matilda, who had surprisingly followed him.

“Bryan, I knew you’d stand back up eventually. I always believed in you,” Matilda’s eyes were red as she approached Bryan, trying to hug him.

“Miss Ferguson, you are drunk,” Bryan quickly stepped back, avoiding her embrace.

“I’m not drunk, I’m sober. Bryan, I really miss you, I really do,” she said, her tears falling to her cheeks.

“You should go back inside. If Mr. Morris knows that you’re like this, I’m afraid it won’t be good for you,” Bryan spoke, referring to the previous incident when George had mistreated her.

His words and tone carried good intentions, even a hint of concern for George.

“Bryan, let’s have a good talk, okay? Let’s not talk about anyone else, alright?” Matilda pleaded desperately.

“Matilda—” George returned after vomiting, feeling much better. Noticing that Matilda was missing from their room, he naturally followed them and was angered to hear her speaking so humbly to Bryan.

Matilda couldn’t stand Bryan being so cold to her, tears streaming down her face non-stop.

Bryan simply left without saying anything, and George didn’t even look at him, only giving Matilda a cold stare as she continued to cry.
