Chapter 93: Chapter 93: She’s Waiting at Home

"Hmm." Adrian responded softly, taking a seat next to him.

The two of them, along with several high-ranking company officials, discussed the matter.

When Adrian left the company, it was already late, eleven o’clock.

"Want to head back together? Or maybe grab some dinner first?" Ryan suggested as he looked at him. freewebnσvel.cøm

He meant returning to the Walyon Family, going back together since it was on the way.

Normally, Adrian would have jumped into his car without a second thought.

But today, he suddenly thought of Summer Sutton’s face.

She had said she wanted him to come home.

Even though he knew her words couldn’t possibly be true.

Other women, if left alone, would surely feel lonely.

But as for Summer, if he didn’t go back tonight, wouldn’t she be overjoyed?

Ryan noticed Adrian just standing without reacting, puzzled, and found his own words somewhat amusing, "I forgot, you’re already married now! Married men have to spend time with their wives."

"Next time then." Adrian snapped back to reality, threw him a word, and bent down to get into his own car.

After that, they parted ways, one returning to the Walyon Family, the other to Sutton Gardens.

When Adrian entered the house, it was already half past eleven.

The villa was very quiet, and Summer Sutton seemed to be asleep.

Adrian had been busy with meetings at the company and had just finished, having skipped dinner.

He could’ve dealt with dinner alongside Ryan before heading back here, but he hadn’t done so.

It’s not like Summer expected him to return for dinner; she made a simple meal.

Two dishes, she handled half herself and left the rest.

Adrian went to the dining room, reheated the leftovers, and sat down at the table.

Summer had just finished her bath then and hadn’t actually fallen asleep.

She heard some noises from downstairs, paused for a moment, and slowly walked down in her nightgown.

Coming to the living room, she stopped in her tracks, seeing Adrian at the dining table, under a dim light, eating two leftover dishes, "Why did you come back?"

Adrian slowly lifted his face, his tone half-serious, "Didn’t I promise you before leaving that I’d try my best to come back for the dinner you prepared?"

Summer paused again.

But it was already midnight, way past bedtime!

Did he wait till now just because he promised her?

Summer stared at him, not coming around for a while.

...

After a simple dinner, Adrian went to the study to handle more company matters.

He returned to the bedroom quite late, and by then, Summer was already asleep.

She wore just the nightgown he had someone prepare for her, a thin spring-autumn garment; the room was heated, warm enough.

Her sleeping pose was relaxed, her fair, glowing legs naturally stretched out over the sheet, her face buried in the bedding, deeply asleep.

Adrian’s gaze lingered on her for a while.

Summer was sleeping well, but then felt the bed sink slightly, something heavy pressing down.

She furrowed her brow, raised her arm in discomfort to push, but didn’t wake.

In her dazed sleep, all she thought about was the significant number of classes she had tomorrow; she couldn’t be late.

Even in her dreams, she was running across the campus, hurrying towards her class, almost late.

Her body suddenly felt cool, something landed on her skin, scorching, like sparks.

Summer shifted uncomfortably.
