Endless Evolution: Last Star-Chapter 1652: Up or Down? (Part 1)
The situation with Gladius and Xyrea had been more than enough stress for Adam, not to mention that he was now in a dangerous, unfamiliar territory about which he knew nothing.
But the real problem had only just emerged:
[Blood of God demands action from you. You must help the Blood of God be absorbed by your Evolution Tree and alter your Nexus.]
Queen Elisa’s blood wasn’t going to ask Adam if he wanted to or not. Right now, he had no choice but to do this, otherwise, disaster awaited him.
"What? Is this blood too strong?" Adam blinked as he clenched his fists. "Fuck! Of course it is! It’s Queen Elisa’s blood! Isn’t that supposed to be good? It’s the only thing my energy reacted to!"
However, Adam wouldn’t achieve anything by shouting.
"Am I supposed to use this blood?" He frowned. "How about giving me something more than this? What kind of clue is this anyway?!"
Adam was angry.
First, Gladius appeared, then he unexpectedly received the Blood of God, and now he not only found himself in the middle of nowhere but also immediately ran into a problem.
Tap.
Something touched his shoulder as he spun around abruptly, only to see the Silver Weaver’s calm face.
"Hey, looks like you’re in trouble? Then again, that’s your usual state, isn’t it?"
"Tsk. Yeah, unfortunately, that’s true." Adam snorted. "I got the Blood of God, but not quite. Now I need to absorb it somehow, and I don’t know what to do!"
The Silver Weaver tilted his head, giving the blood flows filling the bubble an appraising look.
Adam felt a glimmer of hope that everything would be explained to him now.
"Me too." The Silver Weaver shook his head. "I don’t have any ideas."
Seeing his casual expression, Adam only clenched his fists tighter. If he had his way, he would have punched the Silver Weaver right in the face.
’Why did he even come here in that case?!’
Step. Step. Step.
At the same moment, light footsteps sounded from the side.
Lone Blaze joined them. Her hair was just as long, reaching her waist, and burning with an amber flame, just as it had during her evolution, a rough one. The black and white clothes covered her frame, reflecting all the threads under her control.
Without saying a word, she looked at the blood. It was the blood of a creature that surpassed each of them by several levels.
Then, she turned to Adam, "I may be wrong, but what if things aren’t as complicated as we think?"
"What do you mean?" Adam narrowed his eyes.
"The Path Construct... It shows us that the Evolution Tree isn’t ready to accept this blood. Maybe it’s because of your power, maybe because of the Evolution Tree’s capacity. Either way, there’s simply no room for Queen Elisa’s blood."
She stared at Adam. Her bright, amber eyes seemed to want to enchant him.
"You have to make room for this blood. As we know, evolution or temporarily exceeding limits is only possible during a life-or-death battle."
Adam sighed heavily, touching his temples.
"Damn, I should have figured that out myself." He glanced at the Silver Weaver, "What do you think?"
He nodded, "Yeah, we can try. But... If we have to risk your life again, I’d prefer to check something else first."
Adam and Lone Blaze exchanged confused glances.
Step.
The Silver Weaver stepped forward as the dark needle appeared in his hand.
Before Adam could do anything, the Silver Weaver’s frame trembled as he found himself directly beneath the blood bubble.
SLASH!
With a sweeping motion, the Silver Weaver left a deep gash on the Evolution Tree running along the blood bubble. If it had been water and an ordinary vessel, the water would have flowed into the gap to fill it.
"Damn! What are you doing!" Adam exclaimed as a bright light flashed in his eyes.
The dense energy flow burst out through the gap, resembling more of a powerful blast due to its speed and power.
The Silver Weaver stood nearby, watching the receding energy and the blood bubble, which, despite the opportunity that had presented itself, had not taken advantage of it.
"Shit," the Silver Weaver cursed and placed his palm on the Evolution Tree.
He had to sacrifice some of his own energy to repair the cleave that he himself had created.
Adam tapped him on the shoulder, looking at the Silver Weaver with disapproval.
"And? What was that? Do you know I need every ounce of strength I have right now? Why did you go and waste my energy?!"
In response, the Silver Weaver waved his hand as if trying to shoo away an annoying fly.
"I had an idea and decided to test it. What’s wrong with that? I thought that if I freed up some space, this blood would immediately fill it, but it seems things are more complicated than I thought. Most likely, Lone Blaze is right, you need to fight."
For a moment, the Silver Weaver fell silent. With a pensive look, he gazed at Adam’s Nexus.
"Hey, try using your Nexus."
Adam was confused, but didn’t refuse the offer.
He stretched out his hand, intending to summon his staff, but nothing happened.
No surprise appeared on his face. He understood what that meant.
"Great. So I have to take part in deadly battles, I’m in the middle of nowhere, and I can’t even use my Nexus. What could be better?"
Lone Blaze remained calm, watching the blood flow inside the bubble.
"Isn’t this incredible?"
Adam raised an eyebrow. "Hmm?"
"It’ll be difficult, but it was obvious from the start, given the name of your condition. This blood and its flow, I can feel the power within it. I’m both scared and curious to imagine what will happen to your Nexus when it absorbs all this p-power..."
Toward the end, Lone Blaze’s voice trembled, which caught Adam’s attention.
"Hmm? Don’t tell me you’re jealous?"
Strangely enough, Lone Blaze didn’t deny it and gave him a sly smile.
"So what if I am? We all crave power, right?"
Adam sighed heavily as his gaze returned to the real world.
"Yeah... That’s true, but it’s me who has to go into that abyss, again."
