Chapter 63 -31 Hep Benn_2

Their shopping concluded, Long Kongkong seemed to have left all his excitement at Hep’s Ribs Shop and didn’t insist they waste more time wandering around; they went back to Spirit Furnace Academy through the teleportation array formation.

When they returned to the dormitory, there was no one in the shared living room on the first floor. They weren’t sure if their dorm mates in the same building had returned. Long Dangdang and Long Kongkong went up to the third floor. Before entering their respective rooms, Long Dangdang said to Long Kongkong, “Kongkong, don’t forget what Teacher Na Ye said about tutoring you every weekend. You have to properly organize your time, especially now that you have an outside job. And remember, you’re probably one of the least advanced students in Spirit Furnace Academy. If you want to stay, you have to really work at it. Don’t let Teacher Na Ye down.”

“Yeah, yeah, I got it. Why are you so annoying? Stop nagging,” Long Kongkong grumbled as he impatiently opened his room door.

Long Dangdang’s lips curled slightly, “And another thing, if you get expelled from Spirit Furnace Academy, Teacher Na Ye will definitely take you with her. Then you can forget about ever going back to Hep’s Ribs Shop.”

“What?” Long Kongkong stiffened, glancing back at his brother. He had a point. “I won’t get kicked out. I’ll pass the test!” With that, he walked into his room and closed the door.

Watching his brother’s closed door, Long Dangdang smiled faintly, muttering to himself, “Got him.”

The next morning.

After finishing his meditation and cleaning himself up, Long Dangdang left his room and took the initiative to head to the first floor to find Mu Yi. He also met some of their other dorm mates, all of whom were fifteen or sixteen and showed little reaction to the arrival of the Long brothers.

Only then did Long Dangdang go back upstairs to wake up Long Kongkong, who appeared especially refreshed today. The night before, he had stayed up all night to meditate through the Elemental Vortex Spirit Furnace.

Aside from Mu Yi, the other three dorm mates did not take the initiative to engage with the Long brothers, who – in turn – weren’t going to put themselves out there either.

The dining hall was divided by grade level, with all six classes of the first grade eating in the same one. It was breakfast time, and upon entering the dining hall, Long Kongkong found he had eyes for nothing but the girls around.

“Don’t you already have the rib girl? I thought she was your true love, why are you looking at others?” Long Dangdang asked quietly.

“What rib girl? Can you show some manners? She’s clearly older than us.” Long Kongkong snapped, “I may have someone, but that doesn’t mean I can’t take in the view. Still, they’re just average. Even the girl who sat next to you in class at our old school was better. I heard she even cried when you left.”

“Shut up, can’t you ever think about something else?” Long Dangdang was about to serve himself some food when a group of people approached them.

These students were clearly headed their way, including those from their dormitory. The one at the forefront was exceptionally tall and robust, easily over one meter ninety, with broad shoulders and back muscles that seemed to explode with power.

When these students stopped in front of the brothers, the muscular student addressed them, “New kids?”

With a polite smile, Long Dangdang replied, “Hello, we’re freshmen in Knight Class One.”

“Late comers.” One of their anonymous roommates added in.

The muscular student, eyes sweeping across Long Dangdang and Long Kongkong, introduced himself, “I’m Jian Mu, class monitor of Knight Class One. As new latecomers, you two will be responsible for cleaning the class after school today.”

“On what grounds?” Kongkong instantly retorted.

“It’s a custom,” Jian Mu lightly replied.

“Oh? Whose custom?” Long Dangdang managed to hold his brother back as he asked.

Jian Mu pointed to his nose, “My custom. Any problem?”

Long Dangdang chuckled, “No.”

Jian Mu smirked, casting them a disdainful look before turning and leaving.

Long Kongkong watched the retreating group of students, then turned to his brother, “Bro, did we just get bullied?”

Long Dangdang shrugged, “The teacher doesn’t even like us, let alone these classmates. We’ve just arrived. Let’s keep a low-profile and observe first. Let’s eat.”

The academy’s breakfast was ample, with several ingredients Long Dangdang and Long Kongkong hadn’t even seen before. After enjoying a modest meal and locating Mu Yi, they headed to Knight Class One together.

It seemed Mu Yi hadn’t seen their interaction with Jian Mu earlier – he didn’t bring it up or say anything else. He just presented his usual easy-going demeanor and gave them an introduction to how the first grade was run.

All of the first grade classrooms were in the same teaching building, while the cultivation took place elsewhere. The teaching building was generally used for theoretical classes or practical ones with half a day left for private cultivation. The rules were looser than those in your average Temple Academy branch. As long as you could pass the tests, you were free to cultivate how you wished.

Although this theoretically sounded simple, Long Dangdang understood that there was no such thing as an easy student in this academy. Who wouldn’t strive and put forth their best?

Knight Class One was located on the ground floor of the main teaching building; a simple, clean building the color of pure white. The design wasn’t too structured and appeared to be a large white stone if looked upon from a distance. It consisted of one level per grade – simple enough.

Students in white uniforms moved in and out of it. There was very little interaction between them and most walked quickly.

Walking into their classroom, the brothers noticed it was much larger than their old classroom at the Temple Academy; at least by double. However, there were only ten sets of desks and chairs.

“Wait for a moment,” Mu Yi said. “I’ll find you two desk-chair sets – we only had ten students in the class before.”

“We’ll do it ourselves. You’ve done enough guiding us around,” Long Dangdang promptly responded.

They went to a locker room on the base floor, moved the desk-chair sets to the classroom, and set them up in the back row, where they finally sat down.

Mu Yi sat in a front position. The other students in the class hadn’t arrived yet. Before he went back to his position, he cheerfully told the brothers, “Spirit Furnace Academy respects strength, especially in the lower grades. Each grade practices an elimination system annually, not per class but for all the students of that grade. The two lowest scoring classes will each have one student eliminated. At the same time, accumulated scores will be considered in year-end grades. The more students there are in a class, the more likely the coefficient score adjustment is. Everyone here is on edge. If they can’t graduate to the higher grades from their entry grade, everything they’ve worked for becomes meaningless.”

Long Dangdang asked, “What are the low grades and high grades?”

Mu Yi explained, “The first, second, and third years make up the lower grades, while the fourth, fifth, and sixth belong to the higher grades. The transition from third to fourth grade is a milestone. Furthermore, the Spirit Furnace Providential Selection will be held soon. This has everyone quite tense, so don’t take it too personally.”

“Oh, got it. Thank you,” Long Dangdang said with a smile.

After they returned to their seats, their classmates gradually started streaming into the classroom. Upon entering, all of them gave the new twin brothers a once-over. None of them took the initiative to greet the brothers; they just returned to their seats, rendering the class silent.

Jian Mu arrived next, his towering figure naturally finding a spot in the back row, directly in front of Kongkong. His large back almost completely blocked Kongkong’s line of vision.

“Let’s swap places,” proposed Long Dangdang quietly.

“No need! Having someone block my view is perfect for sleeping!” responded Kongkong, reclining in his chair with a smug smile. Sure enough, he laid his head on the desk, ready for a nap.
