School Beauty's Invincible Martial Expert-Chapter 455 - 456: Paying for a Lesson
Chapter 455: Chapter 456: Paying for a Lesson
Hss…
The man instantly sucked in a breath of cold air. His eyes bulged. How could he have anticipated this? Li Dapang was actually opening his mouth like a lion. Twenty thousand wasn’t a lot, but it wasn’t a small sum, either. Bear in mind, he had only gotten ten thousand from Boss Zhang, yet in the blink of an eye the other party wanted him to fork over twenty thousand. How could he afford that? He hastily said, “Big brother, any less would be appreciated. Twenty thousand is really too much.”
“Damn it, you even complain about paying twenty thousand?” Li Dapang looked displeased, his face turning slightly blue with anger. He coldly said, “Do you believe I’ll make you pay two hundred thousand right now?”
“No, please… Absolutely not.” The man quickly shook his head, terrified that Li Dapang might jack up the price on the spot. Twenty thousand was already unbearable for him, let alone two hundred thousand. If he really had to cough up that much, he’d rather take a beating. He quickly said, “I’m willing to pay twenty thousand.”
“Then quit your damn whining and hand over the money!” Li Dapang glared at him, a very dissatisfied expression on his face.
“Yes, I’ll get the money right now!” The man eagerly nodded and hastily pulled out a bank card. Then he turned and handed it to a lackey nearby, instructing, “Take the card and withdraw the money. There’s fifty thousand in it, just take out twenty thousand. The PIN is my birthday. There’s a Construction Bank right across the street, go and come back quickly.”
...
“Yes, big brother.” The lackey heard this and rushed out with the card.
A bunch of people dawdled, squatting on the ground. The black-clothed leader just squatted obediently; where would he dare to sit? These fellows were holding their heads with their hands, eyes fixed on their own feet, not daring to move a muscle, in case they accidentally got hit by the other party’s stick.
“Xiao Han, are you really just going to let them get away with paying twenty thousand?” Li Dapang asked from the side.
“Otherwise, how much do you think is appropriate?” Xiao Han glanced at Li Dapang, then said, “They’re not even willing to pay twenty thousand, do you still expect them to pay more?”
“That’s true,” Li Dapang pondered for a moment, then scratching his head, he laughed and said, “I didn’t think too much about it. I only felt that these guys are too hateful; they should be taught a heavier lesson. Twenty thousand is too cheap for them. Later on, they can go somewhere to collect protection money and gather it up in minutes.”
While Xiao Han and Li Dapang were chatting, the lackey who had gone to withdraw money with the bank card was now running back frantically. He held a brown envelope in his hand, filled with thick stacks of cash, seemingly amounting to twenty thousand.
He ran up to the man, puffing and panting, then hurriedly returned the money and bank card, saying, “Big brother, here’s your card and the money.”
The black-clothed leader accepted the card and money, carefully pocketing the card, and then handed the brown envelope to Xiao Han, “Young man, here are the twenty thousand I’ve just withdrawn. Now I’m handing it all to you, consider it compensation for the restaurant’s loss.”

Li Dapang walked over slowly, took the envelope from his hand, and tore off the brown paper on the outside. Inside were two thick bundles of RMB, ten thousand each, and the bands around the thousand notes hadn’t even been removed. Li Dapang looked over at Xiao Han, seemingly asking for his opinion. Xiao Han nodded slightly, then said, “Let them go. Keeping them here is pointless. We already know who’s backing them, and we’ve got the compensation.”
“Yes!” Li Dapang nodded and turned to the man, saying, “You guys scram now, or you might make me regret it and cause yourselves some real pain.”
Whoosh…
The men scattered, running towards the exit. Those who had feigned injury also got up and ran faster than anyone.
“Damn!” The black-clothed leader, upon seeing this scene, was immediately ticked off. He cursed loudly, “A bunch of sons of bitches, motherfuckers, weren’t you all injured just now? How come you can run faster than the old man now!”
Watching their retreating figures, Li Dapang appeared somewhat worried.
“Xiao Han, I was worried that this might happen,” Li Dapang said anxiously. Looking at Xiao Han, he continued, “Hanmen Restaurant is doing so well that it’s drawn a lot of attention, as well as envy from many others. We can’t overlook this incident, and we need to be on guard.”
“You’re right,” Xiao Han nodded, then said, “Looks like I need to go have a talk with them.”
“With whom?” Li Dapang frowned.
“What do you think?” Xiao Han replied with a smile, a glimmer of intelligence in his eyes, and continued, “As of now, who do you think our competitors are?”
“Fuck, who else could it be? Isn’t it just those few restaurants across from us?” Li Dapang’s voice was sharp and shrill, filled with disdain and dissatisfaction. Those restaurants were no match for Hanmen Restaurant anymore. Now, Hanmen Restaurant’s monthly sales could match their yearly revenue. No wonder Boss Zhang and Boss Li were driven to a corner.
As the saying goes, even a rabbit will bite when cornered.
Boss Zhang and Boss Li were completely cornered by Xiao Han and his group. Therefore, they had no choice but to adopt this last resort, hoping to succeed. If this method worked, then their restaurants could be brought back to life, and the failure of Hanmen Restaurant would be the best news for them. Even if this method failed, it wouldn’t mean any loss to them.
“Yes, it’s them,” Xiao Han nodded in agreement.
“What are you planning to discuss with them?” Li Dapang looked at Xiao Han with confusion.
“For the first time, let’s just consider it a warning visit,” Xiao Han replied to Li Dapang.
“A warning?” Li Dapang paused, taken aback.
“Yes!” Xiao Han nodded and said, “A warning visit is necessary. If they dare to do it a second time, you can call your buddies and teach them a lesson.”
“Heh heh, I can hardly wait,” Li Dapang chuckled, and then asked, “When are you going to visit them for negotiation?”
“Now,” Xiao Han said.
“Then take me with you,” Li Dapang quickly said.
“Why?” Xiao Han was startled and said, “Stay at the restaurant. I’ll be back soon. Besides, the restaurant needs someone to hold down the fort. And, we don’t need many people for the talk. I can handle it all by myself.”
“Alright then,” Li Dapang consented with a nod upon hearing this.
Xiao Han was right; Hanmen Restaurant was in disarray and needed someone to clean it up. Relying on the waitstaff was not enough. They were already like startled birds, and two of the restaurant’s chefs were injured and likely couldn’t work for a while. This was a loss for Hanmen Restaurant.
After some thought, Li Dapang ultimately decided to stay behind.
When Xiao Han decided to act, he immediately got to it.
The closest restaurant to Hanmen Restaurant was Boss Zhang’s Yuelai Restaurant. Yuelai Restaurant was a Guangzhou-style establishment with a completely different style from Hanmen Restaurant. Their decrease in turnover was not closely linked to Hanmen Restaurant; they just didn’t make money and blamed all their anger on Hanmen Restaurant. Yuelai Restaurant’s owner believed that if they could put Hanmen Restaurant out of business, Yuelai’s own business would naturally flourish.
But he never considered improving their service, enhancing their food’s taste, or upgrading the hygiene of their environment. Boss Zhang poured all his energy into competitive malignancy. He never thought of increasing his sales by engaging in fair competition.
No wonder Boss Zhang’s Yuelai Restaurant business was declining. Not running the business with due diligence and not focusing on healthy competition doomed his restaurant to the road of gradual bankruptcy.
Zhang’s Vietnamese Restaurant was located at the southeast corner of Hanmen Restaurant, about a hundred meters away. Due to the proximity, the competition between the two restaurants was bound to become increasingly fierce. Xiao Han walked from Hanmen Restaurant and arrived in roughly three minutes.
When Xiao Han arrived at Yuelai Restaurant’s entrance, two female waitresses in maid uniforms stood there, looking quite tempting. Xiao Han approached the entrance, glanced at them, then smiled and asked, “Is Boss Zhang in?”
“Hello, may I know who this is?” one waitress looked at Xiao Han with a puzzled expression.
“Oh, I’m in charge of Hanmen Restaurant,” Xiao Han said with a smile to the two of them.
They paused, somewhat bewildered. Actually, they knew a bit about the competition between Hanmen Restaurant and Yuelai Restaurant because Boss Zhang complained about it almost every day at the restaurant. He lamented that Hanmen Restaurant’s business was too booming, which threatened the survival of Yuelai Restaurant.
Yuelai Restaurant used to make tens of thousands a day, but not anymore. Now they barely maintained a daily turnover of around ten thousand RMB. A revenue of ten thousand wasn’t even enough to cover expenses. Each day upon waking, Boss Zhang’s mind was preoccupied with thinking about the day’s expenses: rent, utilities, wages, and cost of ingredients… All of which involved money. If the revenue continued to drop, the restaurant might not survive a few more months.
“Then… then I’ll go and inform the boss,” the waitress said hastily after hearing this, and quickly ran inside.
Xiao Han nodded slightly; he stood at the doorway with his hands pocketed, a congenial smile on his face. The other waitress smiled coquettishly as if hesitant yet inviting. Xiao Han asked, “Miss, do you have something you’d like to tell me?”
