Chapter 23: Chapter 22: The Villain’s Room

Every place that the original owner of this body knew had been checked by Eleanore the other day itself. Now there was no place left to search from her memories. She soon realized that the places she needed to search were the ones the original owner of the body doesn’t know.

There are three such places that Eleanore was yet to search were— the Kitchen, the study and Caelestis’ room.

Eleanore was pretty sure that the Kitchen was not a place where Caelestis would hide Stella, which means that she was either in the study or his room.

When she entered the study, it felt new, which means it was her first time entering there.

However the first place that came to her mind was Caelestis’ room, as the study would certainly be occupied by him at the moment.

Early in the morning after the breakfast time was long over, Eleanore made her way to Caelestis’ room on the ground floor, just one room away from his study.

Knowing that this could be dangerous and that he might arrive at any time, Eleanore took the chance and entered the room, hiding from the eyes of every maid and servant she could run into.

Yet when she opened the door to his chamber, she found a maid cleaning the room. She quickly sprinted away from the door she had just opened, as far as she could, and acted as if she were just appreciating the building’s architecture.

"Who opened the door?" The maid rushed out to find the culprit but by then Eleanore was far away from her sight.

"Did the door open on its own?" The maid asked herself a rhetorical question and the answer she concluded was ’maybe’.

She closed the door and about another fifteen minutes later, she came back out then headed to her next errand.

Eleanore quickly grabbed the opportunity and entered the bed chamber. After carefully closing the door, without a sound, she could finally rest her racing heart for a while.

The room looked extremely dull, there were hardly any lights that could light the room painted in a dark tone. Moreover, the curtains were completely closed, increasing the intense darkness of the room.

Although everything was clearly visible, Eleanore felt a weird sensation of emptiness in the room.

She entered the wardrobe room of the bedchamber that had hundreds of clothes neatly hung on a hanger and there were no secret rooms there. "Most of the time, a secret room is found in wardrobes, turns out that’s not the case here. Moreover, Caelestis is smart, he would not hide her in a predictable place like this. Where else?"

Eleanore rushed out and started tapping on the walls to find any wooden one among them but there were none. Nothing under the bed or in the side drawers or in his book self, she took out almost every book, but none reacted to that action.

Tired, she threw herself on the couch at the end of the bed. She held her forehead in her palm and moved her gaze down on the floor. "Nothing, here. Why is there nothing here?"

Her eyes widened on noticing the floor, it could be a basement instead of a mere room. "Yes, that’s the perfect place."

Eleanore started tapping the marble floor and found a difference of sound in the floor under the bed. "I should have checked this first. How foolish of me!" Before she could open the marble that seemed to have been moved many times, she heard footsteps approaching towards the bedroom.

"Oh no!" She quickly rushed behind the bookshelf that had very little space between it and the wall behind. Eleanore pulled her bulky gown in and stayed there quietly, controlling her breath and her racing heart.

The doors opened and it turned out to be Caelestis who had entered the room. For a while after stepping into the room, he remained stationary in one spot, as if he had smelled something different in the room.

"Maid!!" He yelled. "Maid!!"

The girl who had cleaned the room earlier entered in, breathing heavily, having run all the way from the study to his room.

"Yes, my lord." She said, keeping her gaze at his feet.

"Did you clean my room?" He asked in a voice that was rather calm, considering how rashly he is used to lashing out at others.

"Yes, my lord." She answered.

"Then why does it smell so— awful?" He covered his nose, from the disgust he was feeling from the perfume that had completely taken over his fine room.

Eleanore sniffed on her arm. It smelled of lily, her favorite fragrance or rather the owner of the body’s preferred scent. Yet its scent is pretty good, not bad.

’Turns out something is wrong with this man’s nostrils.’ She thought.

"It smells like poop!" He exclaimed.

’Poop?!’ Eleanore could hardly suppress the anger she was feeling from hearing that.

"Clean it! Now!!" He ordered, after which he scanned around the room before leaving. "Why does it feel like I have smelled this poop scent before?"

Eleanore clenched her teeth. ’This damn man. One day, I will kill him.’ She muttered as low as she could.

For the next ten minutes, Eleanore was forced to stay there until the whole room was filled with a weird yet strong scent, so strong that even the maid couldn’t stop sneezing.

Soon, she could feel the pressure in her nostrils, the irritation ready to come out but she controlled it, until the maid left.

Only when she was sure that that would have reached somewhere far away from her. She let it out, "Aah—chuu— Shut!!"

She came out of the compact, dark space and rushed to the hidden passage she had discovered minutes ago.
