Saving the Heartthrob Frenemy-Chapter 79: Make him bend over backwards and weep.
"Save save save... shucks," yelled Qie Xieling nervously standing outside the court watching a junior libero lagging resulting in their team losing thrice.
"Come on we talked about this," he yelled while wiping the sweat dripping down the side of his temple with his towel.
Luo Muchen who was playing the opposite hitter against Qie Xieling’s team smiled slyly while stepping back from the net.
"Why are you smiling?" asked Qie Xieling already stepping over the line.
Luo Muchen said nothing. He just bent over while staring at him amusedly. Bo Ailun calmed Qie Xieling down while pushing him out of the court.
"He is just baiting you to play," said Bo Ailun but this only infuriated Qie Xieling further. Ever since Luo Muchen signed up for volleyball he and Qie Xieling were at odds on the court.
Luo Muchen picked up pace quickly despite having not played the game before and soon he was attacking like a pro player arousing Qie Xieling’s competitive spirit.
Qie Xieling adjusted the tape on his fingers as he yelled, "Sub."
Senior Kay playing referee in his tiny pink shorts blew the whistle while playfully making a hand signal for substitution.
Qie Xieling took the position of the opposite on his team. Seeing this Luo Muchen suppressed a seductive smile while calling out to rotate. After that Luo Muchen took on the middle position ready to block all of Qie Xieling’s attacks.
Luo Muchen signed ’you are going down’ and Qie Xieling walked over to the net separating them with a provocative smile. With his fingers curled on the net he replied, "You wish. Today, dad is going to teach you a lesson."
Luo Muchen threw the ball to the backcourt while saying, "I can’t wait."
Bo Ailun swayed left to right in a ready stance while saying, "Make him bend over backwards and weep."
Luo Muchen’s eyes remained glued on Qie Xieling like there was a fragile string in the air drawing them to each other. "Then I can’t wait," he replied and Senior Kay couldn’t take it anymore.
"You two should just get a room and fight it out," he yelled before blowing the whistle.
With a bang, the ball was served and it flew over the net. Sounds of sneakers squeaking against the floor and loud shouts followed.
Qie Xieling was especially ruthless when he spiked the ball. With Bo Ailun as the setter they worked together tacitly but unfortunately, Luo Muchen really meant it when he signed that ’you are going down’.
Time and time again Qie Xieling’s attacks were thawed making him want to kill his deskmate. The libero for Qie Xieling’s team was almost crying tears of blood begging these gods to stop being so aggressive.
At the end of the tense game, Qie Xieling was sitting on the ground watching the opposite team jumping up and down and cheering. He lay down breathing heavily while looking up to the cloudy sky.
With his hand on his waist, Bo Ailun walked over and gently kicked Qie Xieling’s arm while saying, "Get up. The girls are looking."
Qie Xieling rested his forearm on his forehead covering half his face while replying, "Who cares. Let them look. This ancestor is dead tired."
Bo Ailun let out a throaty chuckle while saying, "Okay, I will go get your towel then."
After Bo Ailun walked away, A figure hovered above Qie Xieling with his legs stepping on either side of his waist.
Qie Xieling peeped a little and saw Luo Muchen looking at him. After seeing his face he ignored him, closing his eyes as though to sleep.
"Get up, the ground is dirty," said Luo Muchen and Qie Xieling finally removed his arm.
He stretched out his hand and Luo Muchen grabbed it before pulling him up. When he got up Qie Xieling was a little unstable so he fell forward and Luo Muchen caught him. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
With their hands still clasped together Luo Muchen asked, "Then since I won, can I bend you over and make you weep?"
Qie Xieling shoved him away while saying, "You wish."
"Catch," yelled Bo Ailun while tossing Qie Xieling’s towel at him. Qie Xieling caught it with one hand and wiped his face and neck.
He sat down on the bench with his head leaning back elongating his neck. Luo Muchen glanced at the protruding Adam’s apple with an intense gaze before looking away while licking his dry lips.
Qie Xieling whose head was almost upside down noticed Lee Ya walking down the bleacher stairs with a bottle of water in her hand while smiling at him.
He raised his head and sat up. He had a feeling she was looking for him so he turned back. Lee Ya stood in the row behind him while handing him the cool bottle of water.
"What’s this for?" asked Qie Xieling and Lee Ya reminded him.
"Gege, aren’t you going with me to the mall tomorrow? Have you already forgotten?" she said as Qie Xieling took the bottle of water from her.
The team members around them cheered and teased while one of them had the balls to say, "Ohhh senior Lin is going on a date."
Qie Xieling ignored them because he knew it wasn’t a date. He honestly didn’t feel the need to explain himself.
Lee Ya tugged at the hem of her skirt shyly with blush stained ears. Luo Muchen squeezed his drinking bottle concealing the bitterness in his eyes. The oppressive air around him was very hard to ignore but since everyone was immersed in teasing Qie Xieling they didn’t notice.
"What date? He is going to help her pick a gift for her dad," he said and Qie Xieling nodded his head tacitly.
"Senior, don’t you know that’s just an excuse? It’s obviously a date," said one of them.
Luo Muchen couldn’t suppress it anymore so he decided to get up and leave. Before he could go far though, Qie Xieling subconsciously pulled him down while saying, "Wait for me," before turning to the junior, "You know I am a straightforward person. If it’s a date I will say it like it is."
Luo Muchen glanced down at where their arms were joined and the tremendous storm in his heart simmered down almost instantly.
"Let me know where we are meeting," he said to Lee Ya before pulling Luo Muchen away. A few steps off the court he absentmindedly let go of Luo Muchen’s hand. Luo Muchen was slightly disappointed but he could only take what he could get.
