Chapter 643: "Congratulations, I hear—"

The congee was delicious but now he couldn’t even enjoy it. He could hear his dad chatting about the plans for the weekend, his voice a soothing balm against the tension brewing in the air. Qie Ranzhe sat next to him, sipping his coffee and occasionally nodding along.

Qie Xieling who couldn’t delay anymore took the last spoonful and stood up to wash his bowl.

After he was done he walked over and took the furthest seat in the living room. Seeing this Qie Ranzhe sneered. "Do you think sitting that far would save you? I can still get to you." 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

Qie Xieling, (QAQ)

What crime could he have possibly committed to make his father this mad? Wen Qinxi elbowed his husband and as expected he instantly restrained himself.

"What did I do? Whatever it is I swear it wasn’t me. I didn’t miss my classes or anything. I mean sure I did race a couple of times but I was careful. I swear I have been good," he said not realising that he had already started snitching on himself.

Sure enough Qie Ranzhe’s face turned really ugly. "What did you say? Can you repeat that?" he said and Qie Xieling not thinking much replied,

"I said I have been good. Seriously, ask Ailun. I—"

"Not that. Repeat what you said before that," he said and Qie Xieling opened his mouth to say it but when he realised what he was about to say he shut his mouth.

"It was only a couple of times," he mumbled and Qie Ranzhe almost lost his cool. The one thing he promised he wouldn’t do his son did. He really wanted him to worry to death.

"That’s fine. As long as you are being safe and not breaking the law," said Wen Qinxi trying to diffuse the situation.

Qie Ranzhe finally recalled why he came here in a hurry. "We aren’t done talking about that young man," he said before placing the tablet in front of him. Qie Xieling was expecting all his dirty laundry to be aired on that tablet that felt heavy in his hand.

Yes, it was laundry alright but it wasn’t dirty and all of it had been broadcasted to the world. Instead of yesterday’s headlines tying him and Lee Ya together it was now Luo Muchen in place of her.

There were pictures of their scandalous affair everywhere. Some were mockingly saying that Lee Ya had turned from being the bride to being a sister-in-law.

Qie Xieling, "WTF!"

"How long have I been asleep?" he said wondering how such a huge wildfire could break out after falling asleep for only a few hours.

"Too long in my opinion. How come I didn’t know you two were planning on getting married? Your own father doesn’t know that yet the whole freaking world does," he said throwing his hands in defeat. One can only imagine his expression when he woke up and saw this. He had just finished cleaning up the mess started by that Lee girl and threatened the Lee family while he was at it.

Only for the one surnamed Luo to start shit again. His cell phone was buzzing all day with congratulatory messages from his business associates. Not only that but when he got here the first thing he saw was his son covered in hickeys. Ahhh how could he not freak out? His precious egg was stolen and scrambled by a little demon. To make matters worse the little demon publicised it to the world laying claim to his little egg.

Luo Muchen was lucky he wasn’t here otherwise he would hit him with his slipper. Hit sounded polite. Beat him was more appropriate. He didn’t care if he would offend that Luo woman.

"I didn’t—" said Qie Xieling and his dad interrupted him saying,

"No shit... how can you not know? It even said you got wedding rings already. You might as well have planned the entire wedding behind my back."

Wen Qinxi grabbed his husband’s hand and said, "Take it down a notch. It’s obvious he doesn’t know about this."

Wen Qinxi was right. Qie Xieling was so immersed in getting laid last night that he had no time to air out his business. He did regret not thinking of this plan first though.

He would have done Tom Cruise’s style of professing his love for Kate Holmes which was jumping on Oprah’s couch and foolishly declaring his love. He pursed his lips suppressing his smile lest he angered his father even more.

"I didn’t know about this. I was busy last night I swear," he said and instantly regretted it.

"Busy doing what?" asked Qie Ranzhe his eyes growing cold.

"Ho-homework," stuttered Qie Xieling his foot already turning slightly just in case he needed to run for his life.

"Homework, ha! I wasn’t born yesterday," he said before his cell phone buzzed again. "You stay right there," he said already predicting his son’s next move.

"Hello," he answered the call.

"Congratulations. I hear—" said Machu’s voice on the other side before Qie Ranzhe abruptly hung up.

Machu, "..."

Meanwhile, Qie Xieling’s face kissed a pillow cushion after he said to his angry father, "It’s not necessarily a bad thing. I mean we can get married right away."

Wen Qinxi could only get in between them. His son truly had a death wish. If Qie Ranzhe suppressed the news his son’s reputation would be tarnished. They would say he plays with boys’ feelings and is no better than the spoilt playboys. He even played with the most unproblematic person, the heir of the Luo family.

This time he couldn’t sweep it under the rug. It was even more scandalous than what that Lee girl spread around.

There were all sorts of pictures of the two of them holding hands, hugging intimately and even kissing. If Luo Muchen was a girl his reputation would be in ruins right now and only marriage would be the next option.

"I was wrong," said Qie Xieling but in truth, he didn’t regret saying it at all. He just wanted to call Luo Muchen and find out what was going on.
