Saving the Heartthrob Frenemy-Chapter 64: Good things are meant to be shared
Meanwhile, Qie Xieling was standing in the queue with Luo Muchen behind him. The cafe was a little packed because it was one of the favourite dating spots for high school students as it was close to the school.
Qie Xieling took out his cell phone and opened the chat interface between him and his dad.
Ran’sWife: Your uncle will come to pick you up.
Ran’sWife: Just let him know ten minutes before you are ready to go home.
Qie Xieling stuck out his tongue at the corner of his lips absentmindedly while replying.
CutieLin: Okay, thanks, dad.
CutieLin: (Cat with Heart.gif)
After he sent it he suddenly felt something tickle his ear. When he turned his head sharply he almost bumped into Luo Muchen’s cheek.
"What’s wrong?" asked Qie Xieling and Luo Muchen moved back a little before saying,
"You smell like peaches and cream."
Qie Xieling chuckled softly while replying, "My nana bought so many of them on sale at a store that was closing now all of us have to use it until it finishes. She hates wasting things." There was no need to even mention which grandmother it was. For a while now the entire family was smelling like peaches and cream.
"Does it smell bad?" asked Qie Xieling while pulling up his school shirt to smell the collar revealing a small part of his toned muscles.
Luo Muchen pulled down the hem while saying, "No, it smells nice."
Qie Xieling took a step forward when the person in front of him moved but the person suddenly took a step back. Before she could step on Qie Xieling’s foot an arm wrapped Qie Xieling’s clavicle and pulled him back.
Qie Xieling’s back bumped into Luo Muchen’s chest as the girl turned around and apologised frantically. Qie Xieling waved his hand letting her know it was okay before going back and swiping up to unlock his cellphone screen.
It seemed he didn’t mind the fact that Luo Muchen was still holding him. In fact, he was used to doing this with Bo Ailun so it didn’t bother him. The entire time the two of them had no idea that Ah Cy was standing by the glass railing on the second floor looking at them while taking pictures.
To distract Bo Ailun she told Wei Qi to keep him entertained otherwise the jig is up. When they got in front Luo Muchen let go of Qie Xieling but he was still so close to him and this action was entirely subconscious.
"Four peppermint mochas with extra topping please," said Qie Xieling before turning to Luo Muchen and asking, "Have you decided what you want to have?"
"Can you pick for me... please?" he asked his head lowered and close enough to notice that Qie Xieling’s eyelashes were thick and curled.
"Fine but don’t blame me if you don’t like it," he said and turned to the barista to order. "And an iced green tea please."
Luo Muchen smiled slightly while taking his cell phone to pay. Before Qie Xieling could scan and pay Luo Muchen beat him to it. Qie Xieling turned his head sharply and said, "Ya, the class president is so generous."
Luo Muchen said nothing as he stepped aside. While they were waiting Qie Xieling’s shoulder was suddenly tapped. When he turned around he found Lee Ya standing behind him. Because she was coming from playing badminton she still had on a tennis skirt with the school logo on it and she was carrying a racket bag. Why she didn’t leave it at school was a mystery in itself.
"What a surprise. We were coming from the court directly and decided to get some refreshments before heading home. I just didn’t expect to see you here," she said and behind her was her best friend who was in the same year but in class two called Li Na.
These two had ranked as the most beautiful goddesses on the school forum for two years straight and from the way they carried themselves they seemed to know it.
Just the appearance of both of them in this cafe drew some guys’ attention. They were staring with envious glances like they wished they could take Luo Muchen and Qie Xieling’s place.
"Here, can you hold this for me," she said before placing her racket bag in Qie Xieling’s hands. Qie Xieling didn’t even have time to refuse when another bag was put in his hands.
Li Na smiled happily before following Lee Ya. Just a smile got them cutting in line. While they were ordering Tang Fei who was sitting a few feet from them couldn’t help but say, "How lucky. If I were you I would be wagging my tail like a dog."
Luo Muchen suddenly took the racket bags and gave them to Tang Fei. "Then you can wag it now," he said his voice imperative.
"Order for Lin Lin," said the cute barista behind the counter and Luo Muchen pulled Qie Xieling’s hand while saying,
"You carry two and I will carry the rest."
Qie Xieling didn’t have any objections. He obediently carried his drink and Luo Muchen’s before slipping away. By the time Lee Ya came back Qie Xieling was gone and in place of him was Tang Fei with his deskmate.
"Ladies," he said with a greasy smile and she rolled her eyes while pushing her hair back in frustration.
Meanwhile, Qie Xieling sat down next to Bo Ailun with a straw in his mouth already. "Thank you," echoed the girls while taking out their cell phones to take pictures of their drinks. The two boys looked at them stupefied.
These two were seriously having a photoshoot for drinks. Qie Xieling glanced at Bo Ailun who was eagerly moving the drinks around as instructed and whispered, "What’s going on?"
"It’s for memories," said Bo Ailun while carefully tilting the drink for Wei Qi.
Qie Xieling: "..."
Luo Muchen had had enough. Knowing Lee Ya was here he just wanted to leave quickly.
"Can we drink now?" he asked and Ah Cy hurriedly agreed.
"Don’t mind us," she said and Luo Muchen handed one of the peppermint mochas to Qie Xieling.
The iced green tea was close to Qie Xieling but instead of giving it to Luo Muchen he stabbed the straw through the lid and took a sip.
Luo Muchen didn’t even say anything. It was Ah Cy who said, "Class president Mu and Xieling must have a good relationship," while Wei Qi pursed her lips suppressing a smile.
"Mmm, it’s good," said Qie Xieling before taking out the straw and handing the drink over. Luo Muchen pushed his hand down stopping him from taking out the straw and took the icy drink from him.
"Sure, we are deskmates after all," replied Qie Xieling while opening a new straw for himself.
Luo Muchen suddenly noticed at the corner of his eye that Lee Ya looking around as though looking for them so he said, "How about we take a walk outside and watch the sunset?" 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
Everyone agreed with him and so got up and left through the second-floor door leading out to the riverside walkway overlooking the city across the river.
Luo Muchen glanced back and noticed that they weren’t following. Meanwhile, the two girls were already imagining a confession scene by the riverside. Wei Qi already knew what she was going to do this weekend. She was going to draw that very scene and share it with the group. As the saying goes ’good things are meant to be shared’.
