Chapter 575: Envying a bloody can

Luo Muchen recalled the virtual three dimensional images of the earth and said, "It must look stunning. If you want I can take you to soace."

Qie Xieling smiled slightly but a twinge of disappointment flashed in his eyes. He thought that he would mention seeing it in the game but just like Bo Ailun, he couldn’t remember anything.

Luo Muchen couldn’t see his eyes as he had his head lowered. He could only see that dazzling smile. It was like a grappling hook clasping his heart before pulling him closer.

He shuffled closer and asked, "Are you hungry?"

Qie Xieling had eaten at Bo Ailun’s place but it was bland invalid foods that the auntie had cooked under Miss Bo’s strict instructions.

Of course, he wouldn’t refuse Luo Muchen’s offer. "What did you bring?" he asked and Luo Muchen took a neatly wrapped chicken wrap. The spicy aroma of the chicken wrap wafted up, making his mouth water.

"Just how you like it," he said and Qie Xieling was genuinely happy. Luo Muchen unwrapped the paper, revealing the warm tortilla filled with tender chicken, crunchy lettuce, and a generous drizzle of hot sauce. Qie Xieling’s stomach rumbled in anticipation, you would think he hadn’t eaten all day.

Luo Muchen’s lips curved into a half-smile as he handed it over to him. "Here," he said. Qie Xieling licked his lip lightly as he accepted it. Luo Muchen’s fingers brushed his as he took the wrap, and Qie Xieling’s skin tingled at the contact. Luo Muchen’s own wrap lay forgotten in his lap, the foil crinkling as he absentmindedly twisted it.

Qie Xieling took a bite, the flavours exploding in his mouth —spicy, savoury, and a hint of sweetness from the mango chutney. He closed his eyes, savouring the moment. For a foodie like him, he was very easy to please. It didn’t even need to be from a five star Michelin restaurant, he was fine with even the skewers sold on the street stalls.

When he opened his eyes, Luo Muchen was still watching him, his expression unreadable. "You’re not eating," Qie Xieling said, gesturing to Luo Muchen’s untouched wrap.

Luo Muchen unwrapped the foil while saying, "I will." His gaze flickered to the city lights below. "Just... thinking."

Qie Xieling leaned back, resting his weight on his hand before asking, "About what?"

Luo Muchen hesitated, then sighed. "About why you said you hate me. Looking at you now you are obviously not upset with me. I... I just can’t to shake the feeling that I did something to you in the game."

Qie Xieling’s heart skipped a beat. He did recall saying that to Luo Muchen but it was coming from a place of pain. It was just disappointing that out of everything they had been through together that was the only thing he could remember.

Seeing that Qie Xieling didn’t respond for a long time, Luo Muchen took out a can of beer from the tote bag. He tapped the side of the can before opening it with a click. Luo Muchen was about to drink it when Qie Xieling asked, "Aren’t you driving?"

He glanced back at the several bodyguards lurking in the shadows and said, "One of them will drive us back." Qie Xieling glanced at the men standing around in the shadows before turning his gaze back. Luo Muchen had his head tilted back elongating his slender neck as he gulped down a mouthful of beer. His exposed Adam’s apples rolled lightly and Qie Xieling felt his heart roll along with it.

Luo Muchen suddenly leaned in close before asking, "Do you want some? I bought you something sweet." He reached out to take another can but Qie Xieling grabbed his beer and drank it.

His eyes darkened as he stared at those tantalising lips he dreamt of kissing for years pressing up against where his lips had been just now. Ah, how he envied that bloody can.

Qie Xieling’s face crinkled displeased by the taste as expected. He gave it back to him and said, "Why do you like such a thing? It tastes horrible."

Luo Muchen laughed softly before taking another sip. The perceived bitterness from before had reduced drastically leaving a lingering sweetness.

"Don’t you think that maybe it was a dream?" asked Qie Xieling and Luo Muchen’s fingers traced the patterns on the foil of the beer can.

"I can tell the difference between dream and reality... That was real," said Luo Muchen while staring at Qie Xieling intently his gaze hot and piercing.

"You are right. It was real but I didn’t mean it. As to why I said it...," he said leaning in even closer with a sweet smile. Luo Muchen’s body went stiff his heart beating in his ear. Qie Xieling was so close to him that he was overwhelmed by the sweet fruity scent that seemed to be surrounding him. He found himself longing to lean even closer to Qie Xieling, desperate for more of that intoxicating aroma. Qie Xieling looked deep into Luo Muchen’s eyes and continued. "I won’t tell you."

After saying that Qie Xieling increased the distance between them. He appeared cool and nonchalant but he felt hot all over like he was in heat. He took the beer can from Luo Muchen and drank it. He had already forgotten how bitter it was before. This time it was more tolerable. In fact, it seemed sweeter than before. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

Luo Muchen couldn’t stop staring at him. He couldn’t help but feel like something was different with Qie Xieling. It was like he was overindulging him and... flirting with him.

He rubbed the back of his neck a little frustrated with himself. He hadn’t drunk much but his mind was now filled with delusions of grandeur.

He might have thought so but, Luo Muchen was willing to fall into this pit. His mother had told him to toughen up and just come out with it and that’s exactly what he was going to do tonight.

"Why don’t you want to tell me?... Is it something so bad?" he asked his voice captivating.

Qie Xieling chuckled softly the sound of his laughter scratching at Luo Muchen’s heart. "You did way more things to me in the game. It’s a shame that you don’t remember."
