Saving the Heartthrob Frenemy-Chapter 564: Punishment
He glanced at the clock and saw that he had only a few minutes left. He had to act fast. He moved his queen to a seemingly aggressive position, hoping to lure Qie Ranzhe into a trap. He pretended to look confident, but inwardly he was nervous. He knew that Qie Ranzhe had a better position and more time. He hoped that Qie Ranzhe would not see through his bluff.
Qie Ranzhe studied the board carefully. He saw Luo Muchen’s queen move and sneered. He did not fall for the bait. He looked at Luo Muchen and saw a faint trace of anxiety in his eyes. He smiled coldly. He knew that he had the upper hand. He decided to finish the game with a brilliant combination. He moved his knight to a key square, threatening Luo Muchen’s king and rook. He calmly pressed the clock and leaned back in his chair.
Luo Muchen’s expression cracked. He realised that he had been outplayed. He looked at the board and saw no way out. He felt a surge of frustration but he didn’t show it on his face. He had to admit that he had lost.
He reached out his hand and tipped over his king. He muttered begrudgingly, "Good game" and avoided Qie Ranzhe’s gaze.
Qie Ranzhe did not show any mercy or sympathy. He didn’t offer any words of consolation. "You want to play again?" asked Qie Ranzhe but before Luo Muchen could answer the door was unlocked from the outside and pushed open.
Standing at the door was Wen Qinxi with a stern expression and his arms crossed on his chest. He glared at Qie Ranzhe.
"What are you doing?" he asked, his voice cold and sharp. Qie Ranzhe’s smile faded, and he looked down. He knew he was in trouble. He had seen that look on Wen Qinxi’s face before, and he knew it meant he had crossed a line. His overbearing aura vanished completely. He looked more like the president of the henpecked husbands association.
"I-I was just playing a game with him. We were getting along," he stammered, trying to sound innocent.
"A game?" Wen Qinxi repeated, raising his eyebrows. He knew what playing a game meant to Qie Ranzhe. He was one of those dads that never let their kids win anything. Even when Qie Xieling was five he would argue with him about colours and the funny part was that Qie Xieling would still look for his father to play with him even when they ended up arguing over which was a horse and which was a pony.
The only person Qie Ranzhe was lenient with was himself. So of course Luo Muchen wouldn’t be spared and from the defeated look in his eyes, Qie Ranzhe had been ruthless. Qie Ranzhe swallowed hard and said nothing. He knew he had no defence.
"Uncle," said Luo Muchen as he stood up.
"How did you get here?" asked Wen Qinxi and Luo Muchen couldn’t even answer that. What was he supposed to say? I jumped the wall like a thief in the night. He was a little ashamed to say it.
Qie Ranzhe’s lips quirked smugly but Wen Qinxi’s glare made him tuck away that smile so fast while he averted his gaze.
"I...," said Luo Muchen and Wen Qinxi waved his hand in dismissal.
"Nevermind. Come inside? I will tell your mother that you are here," he said.
Unexpectedly Luo Muchen shook his head, and said, "No, thank you, Uncle. I appreciate your offer but I think I will come and see Lin Lin tomorrow."
Wen Qinxi frowned, and said, "Are you sure?"
Luo Muchen nodded his head. He had been impulsive earlier and came unprepared. He even came empty handed.
Wen Qinxi didn’t push it. He respected his decision. In fact, this was the best decision. It was best that they met in private first. If they met now Luo Muchen might be overwhelmed by the rest of the family.
"Okay... and you. Come here," he said after turning to Qie Ranzhe.
Qie Ranzhe, "..."
Luo Muchen, "..."
Qie Ranzhe got up quickly and he was dragged away. Luo Muchen had no idea what he had just witnessed. The arrogant tyrant had instantly turned into silly patty under Wen Qinxi’s command. It was both astounding and amusing. If Luo Muchen had known he would subscribe to the henpecked husbands association in the future he wouldn’t have found it amusing.
He found his way out of the property constantly looking back to the mansion trying to guess Qie Xieling’s bedroom. The security at the gate was a little surprised. The man who had jumped over the wall was now walking out of the front gate as if nothing had happened. He even had the audacity to smile at them and say, "Thanks for your hard work."
Meanwhile, Qie Ranzhe was being chewed by his livid husband. He was pulled into the bedroom. Good thing their room was sound proof otherwise everyone would have overheard them.
The reason for this soundproofing was because once Qie Xieling was almost scarred for life. He overheard his dad calling out Daddy in a disgustingly sweet voice. The next day he made his parents soundproof every house they lived in and never called his father daddy ever again. They ruined it for him.
Qie Ranzhe caught the pillow and begged, "Baby I was wrong. I should have found another way to get along with him... He jumped the wall and snuck in so shouldn’t I have punished just a little."
Wen Qinxi laughed angrily before saying, "Would he have to jump the wall in the first place if you had just let him in? What if he got hurt? How would you explain it to his mother."
Qie Ranzhe had no defence. He was wrong but come on the kid walked into the trap himself. He thought it but he would never say it aloud. That would be like shooting himself in the foot.
"I am sorry. Don’t be mad anymore. You can punish me however you like," he said and Wen Qinxi threw another pillow before saying,
"Oh, you would love that wouldn’t you?"
Qie Ranzhe who had been caught, "..."
Yes, tie him up or spank him. These punishments were acceptable. Hell, he would even accept wearing a maid costume to please him. He would do anything to make his husband happy.
