Saving the Heartthrob Frenemy-Chapter 167: Lin Lin’s sugar daddy
Boran rubbed his eyes several times looking at King Luo’s clothes. Those clothes definitely belonged to Eling and it was so obvious. Eling’s style was boring and plain. The colour was always the same. He always wore the same shade of blue like he was about to merge with the sky.
So one can only imagine his reaction when he saw King Luo wearing Eling’s clothes. He parted his lips about to ask what the hell was happening here when Yunning finally made her appearance.
She had to take some time away and calm down. Who would have thought that after calming herself down she would see this scene? 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
She gritted her teeth trying not to say something she would regret but Eling just had to open his mouth.
Qie Xieling could see that a certain someone hadn’t slept well but he couldn’t help himself. He just had to open his mouth and poke the bear. The word poke was being polite. What Qie Xieling actually did was take a jab at the bear.
He turned to King Luo and said, "Those clothes suit you so much. You look dashing. You can borrow more of my clothes if you want."
Instead of rebuking him King Luo absentmindedly answered, "Okay."
Everyone, "..."
Jolie couldn’t help but choke on her cup of tea. These two couldn’t even resist shoving dog food in front of their faces.
Qie Xieling smiled cunningly as he leaned back in his seat. "Did you bring it?" he asked and Yunning who was glaring at him like a viper ready to strike, clenched her fists, seething in anger.
Yunning’s hands tightened around the pendant, her knuckles turning white. She despised Eling, his arrogance and disregard for others but what choice did she have?
Tears welled up in her eyes as she slowly extended her trembling hand, offering the pendant to Eling. As the pendant slipped from her fingers, a heavy weight settled in Yunning’s chest. She felt a profound loss fuelling her resentment towards Eling. With a final glance at the pendant, now in Eling’s possession, Yunning turned away.
Qie Xieling’s hardened expression melted into a triumphant smirk as he snatched the pendant from her grasp. He looked like a villainous woman at this moment. He put it around his neck and said, "Now change me back and give her the money and I will give you the box."
Boran glared at him and Qie Xieling said, "Don’t look at me like that. This is what we call a win-win scenario."
Yunning who couldn’t stand it anymore, cursed, "Oh fuck you, Eling."
Qie Xieling acted like an innocent victim. He pointed at Yunning while reporting to King Luo. "Look look look. She scolded me," he said with an aggrieved expression.
King Luo was at a loss seeing that look on his face. The funny thing was that he actually thought of defending Eling. He rubbed his temples while Yunning fired back.
With a smirk, she said, "You think you would be useful forever? You are only alive because you have leverage."
Qie Xieling chuckled while Jolie produced a dagger out of nowhere. If Qie Xieling died, his bosses wouldn’t hesitate to delete her. Her sole purpose in this life was to make sure that Qie Xieling stayed safe and she wouldn’t hesitate to fight in Qie Xieling’s defence. She spun the dagger in her hand before placing it on Yunning’s neck with a death glare.
"You dare lay a finger on him and you will be dead in the very next second. If you truly value your life, then forget your murderous thoughts."
"Wo wo wo, put away the dagger," said Boran trying to de-escalate the situation but Yunning was a sorcerer after all so she could hold her ground.
She sneered, her fingers curling into tight fists, ready for confrontation. She raised her palms, summoning a dark wave of energy, but before she could unleash it upon Jolie, the air itself seemed to harden around her, stifling her every movement.
Jolie’s eyes glowed with radiant light as she stepped forward, her voice infused with authority. "You underestimate my strength, princess. Your power is no match for mine."
Feeling the pressure mounting, Yunning attempted to counter Jolie’s suppression, but her efforts proved futile. Jolie’s magic quelled every spell that Yunning sent forth, rendering them useless with a mere flick of her wrist.
Their confrontation continued, but it was clear that Yunning’s chances of victory were diminishing rapidly.
Beads of perspiration formed on her forehead as her breath grew heavy. Every retaliation she launched was swiftly deflected by Jolie’s superior prowess.
The clash reached its crescendo as Jolie raised her hand, summoning an enormous gust of wind that enveloped Yunning, scattering her dark energy like ashes in the wind. Yunning stumbled backwards, exhaustion radiating from her being.
"Let this serve as a warning to any of you. I will defend him with my life," Jolie declared, her victory evident in her steady gaze.
Yunning, defeated and humiliated, glared at Jolie one last time before giving in. The silence that followed was heavy and unsettling. Boran had his mouth so agape that even a fly could fly in. King Luo’s brows were furrowed, his gaze fixed on Jolie.
Qie Xieling placed his leg over the other at the knees and said, "Now that we have resolved the misunderstanding, we can continue discussing business."
King Luo didn’t mean to discuss anything with him. He simply pulled out a pouch with a whole lot of coins. "That’s half. I will give the other half once I have my dragon heart scales back," he said and he tossed it towards Eling but Jolie was the one who caught it.
She opened the pouch and having counted the abundant wealth now in her hands, she whistled before saying, "Lin Lin, it seems you got yourself a sugar daddy."
Qie Xieling, "..."
He wanted to smack Jolie upside her head. What sugar daddy and why was she calling him Lin Lin?
Jolie decided to write the amount in his palm. When Qie Xieling figured out what she wrote, he knew this was the kind of amount of game currency that he wouldn’t have to lift a finger for the rest of his life and this was only half of it.
