Saving the Heartthrob Frenemy-Chapter 153: "You, what are you doing in my tent?"
Qie Xieling who had no idea that he had a target on his back, was lying in his comfortable tent looking like a princess from a Disney movie.
If he could whistle, he would attract chirping birds and cute little bunnies to help him dress and make breakfast for him.
Just when he stretched his limbs and turned to lie on his stomach, he felt something wiggling underneath him like it was fighting for its life.
Thinking it was a snake, Qie Xieling’s eyes opened with a start, and he screamed so loud that the entire forest heard it.
Yunning and Boran woke up immediately from that gut-wrenching scream. Boran held his greataxe, and Yunning held up her hand a defensive spell.
They both glanced at the tent and looked at each other, surprised after seeing it moving like someone was fighting for his life.
Inside the tent, Qie Xieling was throwing his quilt and pillow, attempting to kill the snake. This meant that he wasn’t merciful. He was beating whatever the creature was with everything he had.
After noticing that the quilt was still moving, he decided to stomp on it though he was scared. He had completely forgotten that he was a sorcerer with plenty of vanquishing charms that didn’t need magic.
Just as his foot descended on the quilt, a cute little head popped out, and Qie Xieling froze.
"Fuck," he swore as he retracted his leg, "Ugh... you almost gave me a heart attack." He placed his hand on his forehead as he turned away, gasping for air.
King Luo, who had almost been stomped to death, was pretty upset. His nose flared like a bull ready to charge, but in Qie Xieling’s eyes, he simply looked so cute.
"You, what are you doing in my tent?" he said, and the little dragon froze, having realised the issue here.
How did he end up in Eling’s tent? Well, he had no idea. He just woke up with someone crushing him to death.
With a haughty attitude and a ’I didn’t do anything wrong’ look on his face, he walked out of there with his maw pointed upwards.
Qie Xieling, "..."
He couldn’t help but chuckle watching him walk away. He was the one whose tent had been invaded, yet the culprit was treating him like he was the one who did something wrong.
The two people who were contemplating whether to go in or not saw King Luo leaving the tent. When their eyes met, the three people froze, and King Luo was so embarrassed. If he was in his human form, everyone would have been able to see his flushed ears.
Yunning was very unhappy to see this, but she didn’t get to delve into it for long because she sensed something not so far away from where they stood.
Using the arcane eye, she saw an army of trolls heading in their direction. "There are trolls coming. It’s too late to run, so we have no choice but to stand our ground," she said, her voice irritable.
"How could they know we are here?" asked Boran getting ready for a massive standoff.
Qie Xieling stepped out of his tent just as she said this. He had no interest in participating in this, but it was impossible for him to be a bystander.
"I will just stay in here while you two take care of it," he said, and Yunning glared at him, her eyes chilling.
"Who do you think they are here for?" she said, and Qie Xieling pulled up his corset while saying,
"Okay, then remove these," referring to the magic suppression cuffs still on his wrists. Qie Xieling smiled slightly, eager to have the magic suppression cuffs removed, but his smile froze when she said,
"Just make sure you don’t die."
Qie Xieling, "..."
"This heartless woman. How am I supposed to protect myself?" he asked, and it was a genuine concern.
Yunning was tired of his endless complaints thus she handed him a low grade protection charm which he could only use once.
"Here, use it wisely," she said, and Qie Xieling’s mouth was agape when he found out how useless this thing was.
He had no idea that Yunning was punishing him not for betraying King Luo but because King Luo was in his tent. She was acting like a jealous empress suppressing the emperor’s new favourite concubine.
Qie Xieling packed up his tent while grumbling in complaint. He had to find a way to save himself otherwise, they were all going to die.
By the time he packed up his things, all hell broke loose. He thought King Luo would hang on Yunning’s shoulder and charge with her in battle like he should thus, he focused solely on taking care of himself.
Unfortunately for him, King Luo wasn’t about to let that happen. Qie Xieling suddenly felt something landing on his shoulder, and when he glanced there, he found the little dragon starting at him.
Qie Xieling found this hilarious and even said, "You chose to die with me? Well, at least we die together."
Yunning, who was preparing a spell for the first wave, wasn’t too pleased about this, but what could she do?
Three minutes later, Yunning and Boran stood back to back, surrounded by a sea of trolls. The creatures growled and snarled, their beady eyes fixated on the two of them.
Boran grunted, his fists tightening with anticipation. His muscles bulged as he readied himself for the incoming onslaught. Yunning closed her eyes and began to recite an incantation, her hands moving in intricate patterns as she summoned her magic.
Boran charged forward, his mighty greataxe held high. Trolls swarmed around him, their claws and teeth no match for the brute strength of the man. He swung his greataxe with deadly precision, lopping off heads and limbs with ease. The trolls backed away, but only momentarily.
Yunning’s incantation faltered, and the trolls sensed weakness. They surged forward, blanketing the sorceress in a wave of hairy, clawed bodies.
Boran roared, his eyes glowing with fierce determination. He pushed his way through the throng of trolls, his greataxe flashing in the dappled sunlight that filtered through the trees. Yunning struggled to regain her composure, her hands shaking as she tried to summon her magic once more.
Qie Xieling was already running, but he could hear the sounds of the battle behind him. He looked back over his shoulder, his heart pounding in his chest. From a few feet ahead, Qie Xieling could see a group of trolls, so he took a u-turn, dropping the little dragon on his shoulder.
He doubled back, ducking and weaving through the trees as he rushed back towards the deep forest.
