Chapter 146: "You are such a scumbag...

Qie Xieling had no idea that someone was about to use a location spell to find him. They had been traversing through the thick forests for days heading towards Flemston mountain.

Yunning refused for them to stop until they reached there so for four days and three nights they had been walking endlessly.

Qie Xieling didn’t complain at first. That’s because he also wanted to end the task as soon as possible. But after walking for so long he started receiving warning alerts that his body needed to rest otherwise he would die.

When they reached the peak of the mountain range they were scaling, he sat down on a log and said, "I am going to rest here for tonight. I can’t walk anymore."

Yunning’s steps paused as she turned to look at him. One would think she would be understanding since they had been walking for so long but she wasn’t.

She walked back towards him and glanced at his legs spread wide apart. He was wearing shorts inside but his thighs were still hung outside for all to see like fish being dried in the sun.

"Get up. Each time you waste here gives the monastic order an upper hand," she said but Qie Xieling stubbornly refused to get up.

He leaned back with his arms behind him supporting his weight before saying, "If I keep walking I will die and if I die how will you be able to get into his lair?"

Boran took a step towards his fists clenched before saying, "Sit properly."

Qie Xieling glanced down at his legs that were spread apart and ignored him. "I am a man so who cares. If you don’t like it then look away."

Boran sneered before continuing to say, "I say we leave him. We don’t need him anymore. We already know that the king has to either be in Flemston Mountain or Mountain Gregone. You also don’t need him to enter his majesty’s lair."

Qie Xieling laughed contemptuously before saying, "Is that so? If that is the case then why are you still keeping me here? How are you going to enter the lair and survive the spells and traps without me?"

Feeling challenged Boran said, "His Highness is after all the king’s fiance. He will obviously let her in with no issues.

Qie Xieling got annoyed by this but he didn’t show it on his face. He just raked his fingers through his hair while saying, "Then you go ahead. Whether you need me or not it doesn’t matter. Either way, I am spending the night here. I need my beauty sleep."

After Qie Xieling said that he took out a two-person tent from his bag of holding. Apparently, Eling travelled often and kept supplies for when they need to rest. He used magic to set it up before looking at the two people standing there with stupid expressions. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

"I am going to rest. Don’t call me unless it’s a life and death situation." After saying that he entered the tent before closing the entrance.

He did what he said. This meant he went straight to bed with no care in the world. He took the chance to try and check if Jolie had returned but after waiting for so long there was no response.

Qie Xieling failed to stay up for long. He ended up falling asleep ten minutes later. While sleeping he didn’t go back to the dark place nor did he dream thus there was no way to look for Jolie.

When he woke up the next day, he checked his fatigue levels and it turns out it was sitting at a good zero. When he walked out he found that Yunning had slept leaning against a tree with only a thin blanket covering her.

It seemed that she didn’t have a tent and could only sleep outside in the cold. Well, calling it cold wasn’t accurate either. It seemed they had managed to light a fire and keep themselves warm.

Boran packed away his things while reprimanding him. "You are such a scumbag you know that?"

Qie Xieling didn’t like that Boran had been insinuating things about him without careful consideration but this was after all Boran’s character setting.

"How am I a scumbag?" asked Qie Xieling seeming unbothered by what he said.

"You should have offered her highness the tent. She slept outside leaning against a tree while you enjoyed the luxury of a tent. Has your conscience been eaten by dogs?"

Qie Xieling gasped exaggeratedly before saying, "Oh, I am so sorry. I didn’t know you were the fuckin moral police. Why would I give her my bloody tent when she is not my bloody fiance?"

Qie Xieling’s jealousy and resentment started to spring up again. He really couldn’t get over the fact that she had that pendant. It was for this reason that even if he woke up in the middle of the night and found that Yunning was sleeping out in the cold he still wouldn’t offer his tent. Yes, he was petty so what?

"You you...!" exclaimed Boran but before he could call Qie Xieling every swear word he could think of Yunning interrupted him.

"Stop making a fuss. We leave in five," she said as she got up and used a cleaning spell on her body.

Qie Xieling sneered as he packed away his things. He was so annoyed by these two that he couldn’t wait to get it over and done with and move on to the main mission.

After walking for more than half a day, they finally reached the bottom of Flemston Mountain. The mountain had less vegetation and more rocks. At the peak was a thick isolated snowy patch.

Looking at the steep mountain Boran complained, "Are you kidding me? If we climb that it will take us the same number of days it took us to get here."

Yunning took a staff from her holding bag. At a glance, this was no ordinary magic tool but a divine one with extraordinary qualities.

It was a teleportation staff that created linked portals making it possible for one to hop between them.

"We can only use this four times before it exhausts its magic," she said as she opened the first portal on the boulder in front of them and a second portal about five hundred yards up the mountain.

Qie Xieling whose feet were already burning from all that exercise felt a great sense of relief. He loved exercise but even he felt like hiking up this mountain would be so problematic.
