Chapter 141: ... I will marry you off to the troll king."

His ego was inflated at this point and he couldn’t help but smile at an iron smith staring at him with a burning gaze. He even raised his hand to wave at him when Boran grabbed his wrist stopping him.

"You smile at him and he will think you want to be his wife," said Yunning as Boran dragged him along, "Actually that’s not a bad idea. Maybe after all this as punishment, I will marry you off to the troll king. I heard he likes them beautiful and young."

Qie Xieling, "..."

"If you are jealous just say so and you, if you keep touching me I will scream harassment right here," he said and Yunning cast a silencing spell on Qie Xieling.

Qie Xieling, "WTF!!!"

How did he not know that Bi Yu was this overbearing? She was always sweet in real life but in this stupid game, she was like the wicked stepmother born to repress him. Yes sure, given what Eling did it was a wonder why he wasn’t dead yet but still.

As they headed for the gates of the small town, a loud commotion occurred right in front of them. The town guards had shut the gate refusing to let anyone through.

It seemed the monsteric order had arrived at the gates and cast spells upon them making them obedient.

The crowd gathered soon after and one of the guards rushed to the mayor’s house to call him. A short stout man with golden hair pushed through the crowd his armed guards yelling,

"Make way! Make way!"

Qie Xieling leaned to the side giving them way. He might have appeared calm on the surface but he was already sifting through Eling’s memory looking for defensive spells.

The mayor’s steps were domineering but when he saw who it was he instantly wilted. The power and influence of the demigod Yana was increasing but it was more concentrated in the northeast.

He honestly thought that since they were closer to palace castle Pergamon under the command of Princess Yunning, it would take longer before they were encroached upon by the monsteric order monks.

"This... this town is under the protection of the-," he said but his voice vanished and he began to choke.

The monk’s eyes were a luminous white as the symbol on his forehead shone brightly.

"You are a mere ant in the presence of goddess Loviatar herself. This land and its inhabitant belong to her not you mere mortals," he said and blood began to seep from the corners of the mayor’s lips.

The crowd was in horror as they stepped away in fear. Qie Xieling instinctively stepped forward but Yunning held his arm and formed a telepathic connection with him.

"Don’t do anything stupid... and drop your self-righteous facade. We both know who you really are," she said and Qie Xieling heard her voice transmitting into his mind. He rubbed his thumb and forefinger while looking forward. He wanted to retort but he also knew given Eling’s track record her statement was warranted.

Just when they thought the mayor was doomed to die, the monk let him go and whispered something to him. The mayor slowly got up and in a pained voice commanded,

"Gather all townspeople and line them up."

One of the monks bowed before his superior and asked, "Your Lordship, do you think he is still here?"

"We will see," he replied as he scanned the crowd. As his gaze lazily looked at the crowd his eyes met a stunning woman clad in red.

She was so beautiful that one would think she was carved out by the gods themselves. She would make a perfect sacrifice for the goddess Loviatar but they weren’t here for this. If he brought her back with them it would be more of a burden as they will be looking for that cockroach that escaped death.

He decided to pass by after they finish the job and spill her blood at the altar. Qie Xieling who had no idea that he had been personally selected to be a sacrifice to the goddess of pain and anguish was following the queue towards the front.

It seemed they were going to be inspected one by one regardless of gender. At least Yunning had lifted the silencing spell otherwise they would notice something was wrong. When he reached the front, he placed his hand on his hip while asking the serious monk, "My lord, if you don’t mind may I ask who you are looking for? Maybe I can inform you if I see them."

Boran kicked Eling’s leg trying to shut him up. They were confident in Yunning’s transformation spell but that didn’t mean they should be reckless and draw attention to themselves. Mr loose lips over here was doing just that.

Qie Xieling ignored him as he continued to smile at the monk. "Shut your mouth," said the monk as he raised his hand ready to slap her away but before he could move his hand it was caught.

His superior grasped his arm tightly before pushing it away. The goddess preferred her sacrifices unblemished. The monk whose arm was grasped bowed his head in apology.

"My apologies for his behaviour and you are?" he asked already imagining her laid down on the alter naked and ready to be slaughtered like a pig.

Qie Xieling had to come up with something fast. He grabbed Boran’s hand and pulled him close while saying, "I am Mrs Edgin and this here is my husband."

When he said this Boran got goosebumps all over. He clutched the hand patting his chest with a tight grip and Qie Xieling almost winced. To outsiders though it looked like a husband showing affection to his wife.

The superior monk frowned upon hearing this. Other than beauty the goddess also had a preference for virgin women. His face changed drastically as he scolded,

"Get out of my sight."

There was no sign of magic on them. In the proximity to a high-level ioun stone, all magic spells would be broken.

Since nothing happened they were free to go. The superior monk glanced at them one more time but soon withdrew his gaze as there was a commotion.

The three of them walked out of the town and made their way to the easterly forest. This was the safest place, Yunning could think of.
