Saving the Heartthrob Frenemy-Chapter 135: "Think happy thoughts. Think happy thoughts."
Qie Ranzhe and Wen Qinxi were torn apart both mentally and physically looking for their son. Qie Ranzhe was a dishevelled mess and Wen Qinxi hadn’t slept for days.
If Wen Danzhe hadn’t forced his brother out of his basement and Machu telling Qie Ranzhe that he will be useless if he falls sick due to lack of rest the both of them would have continued working themselves to death.
Wen Danzhe made sure to drop off Wen Qinxi at the luxury condo near the office building. That’s because Wen Qinxi had the ability to work from home and that wouldn’t be good but at the condo, he had nothing apart from his cell phone. When Qie Ranzhe got there he found his husband curled up on the bed hugging a pillow and burying his face in it.
His heart ached to see him like this. He suddenly wanted to go out again and keep searching. He wanted the next time he sees him he would have Qie Xieling with him and make him happy.
But before he could take a step back, Wen Qinxi who heard him come in sat up and with red eyes, he asked, "Anything?"
Qie Ranzhe felt like his heart had been stabbed through by a knife. He unclenched his fist as he lowered his head whispering, "I am sorry."
Wen Qinxi’s tears finally fell and Qie Ranzhe strode over and sat on the edge of the bed. Qie Ranzhe embraced Wen Qinxi while stroking his hair in comfort. He could feel the dampness from Wen Qinxi’s tears seeping through his shirt. He raised his hand and wiped away the tears in his eyes before kissing the top of Wen Qinxi’s head.
Wen Qinxi separated from him and Qie Ranzhe wiped away his husband’s tears with devastation in his eyes. He pressed their foreheads together and with their hands entwined tightly in each other’s he apologised over and over again. He suddenly didn’t want to be strong. He let out his emotions weeping silently. The pain was just so unbearable. Coupled with exhaustion he really couldn’t hold back.
Qie Ranzhe had searched all of Leong Jinn’s known properties and they weren’t a lot. Apart from a small apartment near GameX and his grandmother’s house, Leong Jinn had nothing else under his name. They were at a dead end and the only other lead they had was finding the group of mercenaries.
Wen Qinxi rubbed Qie Ranzhe’s thumb over the back of his hand, trying to offer some comfort. His eyes were bloodshot and the bags under them were as deep as craters.
Qie Ranzhe’s facial expression was hard and distraught. He couldn’t stop blaming himself for Qie Xieling’s kidnapping. He blamed himself for not fighting hard against the Lee family to put that man back behind bars to serve his sentence. He regretted it so much.
After a long moment of sitting in silence, Wen Qinxi finally said, "I can’t keep doing this, Ran Ran," his voice trembling, "I feel like I’m about to lose my mind."
Qie Ranzhe squeezed his hand tighter, "We will find him. That rat can’t hide far. Hei Xiwen has a lead with the tattoo artist. He will keep updated."
"Will he talk?" asked Wen Qinxi his voice wavering.
"He will," said Qie Ranzhe insistently, "Hei Xiwen will make sure of it. He will talk."
Wen Qinxi leaned his head on Qie Ranzhe’s shoulder, "What could he possibly want with Lin Lin? If he had a grudge he should have just taken me. Why take Lin Lin?"
Qie Ranzhe sighed heavily and said, "He has always been a sick and twisted person. I will make sure he pays for this with his life."
The two men sat there silently, each lost in their own thoughts. They were both exhausted and emotionally drained, but they knew they would never rest until their son was found and brought back home.
The person they were all looking for was in a comatose state and unresponsive. He was still breathing and his vitals were somewhat normal.
Leong Jinn impatiently tapped the desk while staring at the display with his burning gaze. He had dark circles around his eyes looking like he hadn’t slept for days as well. His plan wouldn’t work at all if Qie Xieling didn’t merge with the game.
"Come on come on come on," he mumbled repeatedly but even his endless mantra couldn’t bring Qie Xieling to merge with the game. There were no signs of it at all.
It took four days for there to finally be a response. Leong Jinn was about to disconnect him from the game and start again when a soft groan drew his attention.
Elated, Leong Jinn rushed over to the floating screen only to find the person he had been anticipating sitting in the darkness in a trance.
Qie Xieling was scratching the back of his head in a daze having not yet registered where he was. He hadn’t even realised that he was sitting in the dark. When he finally did a loud shriek pierced the air almost making Leong Jinn’s ears bleed.
"What are you screaming for? Damn, you scream just like a little girl," he said rubbing his ear.
"You bastard! You f&£$%^$ I am going to &£$%^$ when I &£$%^$ out of here. You mother&£$%^$," spewed Qie Xieling unrestrainedly using every swear word he could think of.
AN: As the saying goes like dad like son.
Leong Jinn wasn’t at all offended. In fact, he laughed so hard before saying, "You are still so spirited. It seems you are ready to play."
"You know what? Fuck you," cursed Qie Xieling.
"You know what? I am not even going to get mad. I have been looking forward to this day for so long and now that it’s finally happening nothing can put me in a horrible mood. Now be a good boy and shut your trap otherwise you will stay in the darkness longer."
Qie Xieling didn’t listen. He cursed Leong Jinn’s ten generations and ancestry till his mouth was dry. After exhausting himself he finally lay down flat on his back breathing heavily with his eyes closed tightly.
"Think happy thoughts. Think happy thoughts," he whispered to himself but his body was trembling in fear.
"Are you done?... Damn, you swear like a sailor. I would have thought that with a father like yours, he would be strict with your language. Not so noble and high class as expected. Do you know what you are? You are like a shrew at the fish market," Leong Jinn said while putting his feet up on the desk.
He bit through the biscuit he had left on the desk the previous day with a sly smile. But the rancid taste made him spit it out immediately.
