Chapter 107: "You brat! Why did you run?"

The sound of rapid gunfire ensued with the gunman firing in the air. This eerie sound was heard from a distance resulting in absolute mayhem and screams as the people outside the hotel ran inside.

While the school kids and guests were running inside, a group of men and women ran in the opposite direction pulling out guns from nowhere.

One such noticeable guest was an auntie who pulled out a pistol from inside her long dress before rushing out the doors of the hotel.

Teacher Zhu was planning tomorrow’s island tour when all hell broke loose. He told the other teachers and hotel manager to make sure the students were safe before leaving the room while folding the sleeves of his shirt.

If anything were to happen to Qie Xieling he was pretty sure Qie Ranzhe would kill him. He had to find Qie Xieling so he pulled out another cell phone that was obviously not his usual one and unlocked it while rushing to his room.

As he walked down the corridors he was met with chaotic crowds and terrified students.

"Go to your rooms and stay low!" he yelled and the students immediately did as instructed.

Teacher Zhu entered his hotel room and took out a small black suitcase before unlocking it with his fingerprint and taking out a handgun and several magazines before locking it.

Two minutes later he was downstairs following the dot on the screen that was moving really fast.

The moon cast an eerie glow across the rocky beach as the two boys ran for their lives. The sound of their footsteps echoed against the stones, mingling with the ragged breathing of the gunmen behind them. The men’s shadows stretched out across the sand, growing larger and more menacing with each passing moment.

The boys darted between boulders, their hearts pounding with fear and exertion. The moonlit landscape was treacherous, with jagged rocks and hidden crevices threatening to trip them up at any moment. They could feel the cold ocean air biting at their skin, adding to their growing sense of dread.

Suddenly, a shot rang out, sending a spray of sand and gravel flying into the air. Qie Xieling dragged Luo Muchen and they dove for cover behind a large boulder, their hearts racing with terror. Luo Muchen pulled out his cell phone while breathing heavily. "Are you okay?" he asked and Qie Xieling nodded his head his expression vigilant.

"Do you hear that?" whispered Qie Xieling. Luo Muchen who was switching off his cell phone stopped to listen. The sound of rapid gunfire was being redirected and there seemed to be a showdown between opposing sides.

Luo Muchen tossed his cell phone into the sea while explaining, "My people are using this to track us and so are the bad guys. Give me yours."

Qie Xieling took out his and gave it to Luo Muchen. "Here," he whispered while looking around for a place they could possibly hide for a long time.

Luo Muchen threw it into the water and the two of them tacitly got up and began to run towards the littoral caves as that was the only place they could think of that would be safe until the heat was off.

While running Luo Muchen spotted a figure coming from the trees. He pushed Qie Xieling behind a boulder and the two of them tumbled to the ground.

The gunman’s footsteps grew closer, his breathing heavy and laboured. The two of them could hear him muttering under his breath, his voice choked with anger and frustration as chaotic noises came from the shoddy walk-talkie in his pocket.

Both of them knew they had to keep moving if they wanted to survive. They couldn’t stay hiding here any longer but taking on a gunman sounded as ridiculous as it was terrifying.

Luo Muchen peered around the edge of the boulder, scanning the beach for any signs of the man. In the moonlight, his silhouette was just visible, stalking their direction with his gun raised. Qie Xieling saw that Luo Muchen’s face wasn’t good so he grabbed his hand and wrote in his palm ’is he close’.

Luo Muchen nodded his head and Qie Xieling swallowed his saliva his heart beating in his ear. He licked his lips before leaning close and whispering something. He then turned on all fours to go around the boulder when his arm was suddenly grasped.

Luo Muchen’s mind was buzzing with the fear of losing Qie Xieling overshadowing him. If anything happened to Qie Xieling he wouldn’t be able to live with it thus he was reluctant to let him do this plan.

Qie Xieling smiled reassuredly but he was more likely trying to reassure himself. Luo Muchen reluctantly loosened his grip and Qie Xieling stealthily crawled to the other side of the boulder.

Luo Muchen exhaled deeply before standing up slowly with his hands raised in surrender. The man who was cursing in the shadows was startled when he saw someone standing behind the boulder.

He spat out the thick sludge of his chewed tobacco on the ground his gun pointing at the boy. "You brat! Why did you run? All you had to do was come peacefully!" he yelled while walking towards him the anger in his eyes intense.

Some of his brothers had been shot and they had to call for backup all because of this brat who wouldn’t come out quietly.

When they agreed to do this job they thought it would be an easy grab like all the other kidnappings of vacationing visitors. Soon after the ransom would get paid and they would decide thereafter whether to free the person or not.

This meant coming into this they didn’t think that they would be met with extensive push back and these people were organised.

His anger at this moment was extreme. He just wanted to rough up this kid first before dragging him to the boat.

His gun raised aiming at the young man he shouted, "Come here!"

Luo Muchen came from behind the boulder but before he took a step forward Qie Xieling suddenly appeared behind the gunman.

With a swift, decisive move, he lunged forward and grabbed the gun, wrenching it away from the startled gunman.
