Ruling the Historical Romance Novel as the Female Supporting Character-Chapter 94: Su’s Mother Tricked by Su Xinyue
She remembered that at this time, there were indeed tiny cameras available, but they weren’t easily accessible to the general public. Those who were monitoring her wouldn’t use bulky cameras for surveillance. The people she had been in contact with and the ones they interacted with were undoubtedly being documented.
Sure enough, several of them nodded and pulled out a small camera not much bigger than a palm from their military-green bags. "We’ve captured their interaction and the transaction."
"You’re trying to frame me! This isn’t my fault; you deliberately lured me into a trap," Su’s mother didn’t expect that there had been people hiding in the room, who had recorded captured all she had done.
"What kind of trap are you talking about? If you hadn’t had ill intentions, would you have been caught?" Su Yijia looked at her with disdain. She had foreseen that her mother and Su Xinyue would not give up easily. This time, they had gone too far.
In truth, Su Yijia had contemplated that her mother and Su Xinyue would likely attempt another scheme. She didn’t expect, however, that they would be so audacious.
Escaping a similar trap before allowed her to remain in control of the Qin family and Su Xinyue. So, wouldn’t Su Xinyue hesitate to employ the same tactics after experiencing the result of her previous attempt?
Shaking her head, Su Yijia glanced at Su Xinyue. "Give me the the photo and its negative."
The original host had only taken one such photo in her life as her family had only been willing to spend the money when she reached marriageable age. Even so, they still managed to use it in a plot.
"I don’t have them," Su Xinyue’s shook her head innocently.
"I’ll give you three minutes. Give them to me or I’ll hit you." Su Yijia didn’t care enough to talk to Su’s mother, lest that silly woman thought she could threaten Su Yijia with a mere photo.
Su Xinyue bit her lips, staring at the men standing alongside Su Yijia.
Those men remained unmoved and maintained their serious expressions. One could even discern a hint of scorn in their eyes as they glanced at her.
With no other option, Su Xinyue had to crawl over to her mother and, with a pitiful voice, asked, "Mom, where are my sister’s photo and negative? Can you give them to me?"
"Give them? She just said she’s sending me to the police station. Why should I give her anything?" Su’s mother’s voice was bitter and harsh as she pushed Su Xinyue away. "Give her anything just because she wanted it? You’re too soft, which is why you’ve been bullied by her!"
What is this? Is she talking with a straight face? Is this really happening?
Getting into a heated argument with a complete imbecile was pointless. So, Su Yijia turned her head away, refusing to watch the mother-daughter drama that was unfolding.
"Mom, sister is not just my sister anymore; she’s also my sister-in-law. Even my mother-in-law has to listen to her. The Qin family’s relatives intended to make her suffer, and consequently they were all forced to resign from their jobs. She won’t let us get away from today’s incident," Su Xinyue softly advised.
"Both families? All of them?" Su’s mother couldn’t believe what she was hearing.
She reached out and pinched Su Xinyue harshly, saying, "You foolish girl! You kept something like this from me?!"
If she had known that Su Yijia had become so ruthless and cunning, she wouldn’t have been so quick to act.
"Mom, it’s all my fault. I shouldn’t have resented my sister. When we go to the police station, I’ll tell them that everything was my fault. We haven’t caused any harm, and even if they want to charge us, the sentence wouldn’t be too long," Su Xinyue said, biting her lip.
She appeared frightened, yet her words carried a sense of determination.
Su’s mother’s trembling hand hovered in the air for a moment, and then she let it fall heavily. She looked at Su Xinyue with a mix of regret and heartache.
"Su Yijia, I know I haven’t been the best mother, and I understand your resentment and anger. Can you give us one more chance? Let’s just forget about this incident. Please talk to your friend and we promise that we won’t do something like this again," Su’s mother turned her head and looked at Su Yijia with the same eyes she had used on Su Xinyue.
However, Su Yijia couldn’t help but wonder if Su’s mother had rehearsed this "loving and regretful" look with Su Xinyue first. She shivered and took a step back, saying, "Don’t disgust me. You don’t actually feel guilty or regretful for what you did to me. You’ve just realized you might not win against me. And I don’t play by the rules so I may really send you two to prison. That’s why you’re lowering yourself to negotiate with me.
Do you think I’m a fool who can’t see through your act?"
She paused and wondered.
So, if she sent Su Xinyue in prison now, how long would the sentence be? Even if it were twenty years, Su Xinyue would be released at the age of thirty-eight, right in the midst of a real estate boom. With her protagonist’s halo, she would likely find many good men willing to lay down their lives for her.
Taking into account the pros and cons, Su Yijia didn’t need to reveal what Su Xinyue’s planning.
Seeing her words didn’t work, Su’s mother struggled for a while and said, "I came up with this idea and contacted the people involved. I forced your sister to engage in this. If you need to blame somebody, just blame on me."
Su Yijia laughed in self-mockery. Then she applauded, "What a kind mother! But I’m not a brutal person. You tell me my true background, and then I won’t report today’s incident to the police?" Su Yijia offered.
Su’s mother’s body tensed, but she clung to her stance, saying, "I am your biological mother! I carried you for ten months and went through hardships to give birth to you. Not every mother necessarily dotes on her child or treats each child the same. When I had you, our family was struggling, and your arrival only added to the pressure. You were a demanding baby, always crying, and clinging to people. It was normal not to like you. Later, when your sister arrived, your father and I had jobs, and our lives improved. Moreover, your sister was an obedient child, rarely crying, and had a sweet tongue. That’s why I had a different attitude toward both of you."
Su Yijia furrowed her brows in thought. "Jobs? I’m twenty years old now, and Su Xinyue is eighteen. That means you conceived her when I was just one year old. How did you and Dad suddenly find jobs in the Hu City market when it was difficult back then?"
"What do you mean? What kind of child suspects they aren’t their parents’ own just because their parents weren’t affectionate?" Su’s mother retorted anxiously.
