Ruling the Historical Romance Novel as the Female Supporting Character-Chapter 88: Indeed, I’m a Bit Busy and Need Your Help
When the woman was completing the property transfer procedures, her tone was sour. "You offered 2,500 for someone else’s house, but only 2,000 for mine. That’s quite a difference."
"Have you even looked at what kind of house you have compared to the others?" Su Yijia retorted sarcastically. She believed that preserving a genuine 1920s and 1930s-style house was not easy and that such properties could be considered historical relics in the future.
"It’s just a place to live, no need to be so particular," the woman replied, acknowledging that her house wasn’t great. She could only express her dissatisfaction in a snide manner but continued with the property transfer process.
"Regarding the household registration, can I write two names?" Su Yijia asked seriously when she took out the household registration book.
"Sure, you can. But if you write two names, it means the property is jointly owned. However, between spouses, even if you don’t write both names, it’s still considered joint ownership," the personnel at the property management office replied, not understanding why she was asking such a question.
Su Yijia smiled and said, "Let’s write both names anyway! Even though it’s joint ownership even without both names, if we ever want to sell it, having both names on the deed will require the consent of both homeowners."
"Alright, since you’ve decided, we’ll follow your request and write both names," the property management personnel agreed, assuming that she originally intended to add her husband’s name but decided to add another one as well. Without even glancing at their eldest brother, Gao Huabin, and Zhu Zirui, they processed the paperwork.
They were aware that Qin Kaize would probably refuse, but they didn’t want their eldest brother to suffer any losses. Even if it meant providing extra financial protection, it was worth it.
After completing the paperwork for both courtyards, Su Yijia finally squatted down in front of Qin Kaize, her eyes filled with a mix of anger and gratitude.
Su Yijia tried to comfort Qin Kaize, saying, "Don’t be angry. We’re a married couple. Isn’t it normal to have both our names on it? We’ll be together for a lifetime. Who can guarantee that we won’t encounter people with ill intentions at some point? By having both our names on the deed, we can discuss things in advance if either of us is deceived. This way, we can prevent unnecessary losses before they happen, right?" She leaned on Qin Kaize’s legs, her tone filled with a hint of coquetry.
Qin Kaize’s initial anger had already subsided, and now, with her sweet words and affectionate tone, he was completely at ease. He blinked and smiled, and Su Yijia immediately took out the notebook.
"In the future, when we buy a house with money, I’ll also put your name on it," Qin Kaize affirmed.
"Of course! If you don’t put my name on it, whose name would you put?" Su Yijia replied with a playful tone, her eyes glinting with a seductive allure.
Despite Qin Kaize’s health issues, their affection for each other was evident. Zhu Zirui, who had been skeptical of Gao Huabin’s claims earlier, finally felt reassured after witnessing their relationship.
Due to Qin Kaize’s condition, they couldn’t dine out for lunch, but they decided to order a few meat dishes to-go from a state-owned restaurant. Qin Kaize had his usual ginseng and chicken soup congee, which smelled so good that even Zhu Zirui found himself drooling, though none of them dared to take the patient’s special meal.
During the meal, Qin’s mother walked back and forth near them several times, appearing hesitant to speak. She didn’t want to initiate a conversation in front of others, fearing that Su Yijia would lose face. However, she couldn’t bear to keep her thoughts to herself any longer.
Su Yijia knew exactly what was on Qin Kaize’s mother’s mind, but she couldn’t care less. After finishing their meal, they sat together in the courtyard, leisurely eating fruit and chatting.
"Here’s my phone number, Sister-in-law. If you ever need anything, you can always reach out to me. I may not have many special talents, but I was born and raised in Hu City, and I have a lot of friends and acquaintances here. Most of the time, I can help with various matters," Zhu Zirui said, writing down his work phone number in a notebook and offering it to Su Yijia.
Su Yijia blinked her long lashes as if contemplating something. After a few seconds, she said, "I want ten clean soy sauce bottles, please."
In those days, soy sauce bottles were small, about the size of a palm, and could hold 200 milliliters of liquid. They had green plastic caps that required some effort to open and close. Su Yijia thought these bottles were the most suitable for her purpose.
Zhu Zirui readily agreed, "That’s easy to arrange. I can bring them to you tomorrow."
Su Yijia then provided a bit more context, "I’m planning to make a skincare product that can lighten the skin. I want to try it out for myself first. If it works, I’ll fill these bottles and sell them on the black market. If it doesn’t, I’ll use these bottles to store various condiments."
"You also go to the black market, Sister-in-law?" Zhu Zirui was somewhat surprised. While he had already witnessed Su Yijia’s boldness, he hadn’t expected her to be this resourceful.
Su Yijia nodded, "I didn’t have before so never went before. But ever since Kaize entrusted me with the money, I’ve started going there and bought quite a few things."
"Black markets haven’t been cracked down on for quite a while, but they’re still somewhat dangerous. If you want to buy or sell something, just let me handle it in the future. I’m nimble and can run fast," Zhu Zirui advised cautiously.
He didn’t mind risking himself, but he worried about his sister-in-law getting into trouble. After all, if he got caught, it wouldn’t affect the family too much. However, if she got caught, it would be a different story.
"For small items, I’ll browse by myself slowly. I’m not reckless. But if I need help with larger quantities, I might ask for your assistance," Su Yijia replied, neither accepting nor rejecting Zhu Zirui’s offer. She knew that with her growing ability to create valuable items, she’d need trustworthy help. And who was more reliable than someone like Zhu Zirui, who had worked under her husband in the past?
Zhu Zirui wanted to insist further but noticed a meaningful glance from Qin Kaize. He decided to keep quiet, realizing that his sister-in-law was the boss in this household, and he couldn’t do much to change that.
After a while, Zhu Zirui left to return home. Su Yijia planned to take a nap with Qin Kaize, but before they could relax, someone knocked on their door.
Gao Huabin opened the door to find Su Xinyue standing there with a forced smile.
"Gao," she greeted with a sweet voice.
However, Gao Huabin completely ignored her, turning to enter the courtyard. Su Xinyue’s smile froze on her face. She felt wronged but knew better than to argue, so she went to find Su Yijia instead.
"Sister, Mom asked me to come and get you," she said obediently. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
"What mischief are you and your brother planning now?" Su Yijia didn’t spare her any face.
Su Xinyue lowered her head, her voice soft. "Sister, please come back. Mom is really worried about you."
Su Yijia sighed. She knew her mother was concerned, but she was determined to handle her own affairs. "Fine, let’s go back."
