Ruling the Historical Romance Novel as the Female Supporting Character-Chapter 236: Why Can Their Village Grow Medicinal Herbs?!
After two days of continuous rain, the weather finally cleared up on the day they were leaving. Early in the morning, birds perched on the windowsill, chirping happily.
Su Yijia, wrapped in a blanket, rolled back and forth on the kang like a caterpillar. Suddenly, a low chuckle came from above, startling her to quickly open her eyes. She saw the sunlight shining through the window lattice, casting a glow on the man’s profile.
The falling shadow outlined his already deep facial features, making them appear even more three-dimensional and resolute. The buttons of his white shirt were meticulously fastened below his Adam’s apple. With his smile, the sharp and sexy lines of his throat subtly moved. Indeed, his vitality added to his charm.
Like a little worm, Su Yijia, wrapped in a blanket, wriggled closer to Qin Kaize. She pressed her head against his knee, rubbing it contentedly.
"Still sleepy? If you are, you can sleep a little longer," Qin Kaize said with his mouth, but he reached out and lifted Su Yijia slightly, letting her rest on his thigh.
"What time is it?" she asked softly.
"Seven o’clock," Qin Kaize’s large palm gently covered her eyes, blocking out the sunlight outside. The sudden darkness made Su Yijia even sleepier. However, she summoned all her willpower, shook her head slightly, and fully opened her eyes.
"I won’t sleep anymore. The Aunties in the village are always busy, they’ll be here soon," she said.
After returning to the room last night, she couldn’t stop thinking about Qin Kaize’s recovery and spent two or three hours tossing and turning before falling asleep. As a result, she immediately had some messy dreams as soon as she closed her eyes, which made her excited all night. Now, she felt completely drained.
With her hands encircling the strong waist of the man, she gradually arched upwards. Su Yijia successfully found the location of his abdominal muscles and rubbed against them. Soon, she felt that the touch through the layer of fabric was not right.
She exerted some force and directly pulled the hem of his clothes up. The delicate and smooth face made the man’s breathing become rapid. The unrestrained trembling of his soul and heart seemed to want to devour the little thing in his arms at any moment. Qin Kaize tightened his arms around Su Yijia’s waist, wanting to do something. However, a light cough came from outside the door.
"Ze, Jiajia, Auntie Chen is here," Grandma Lin’s voice sounded outside the door.
Su Yijia’s movements stopped abruptly. She reluctantly sat up against Qin Kaize’s body.
"Grandma, please let the Aunties wait for a moment. We’ll be there soon," she called out.
Then, she hurriedly took out her daytime clothes from the wooden box and changed out of her pajamas. Her porcelain-like skin immediately caught Qin Kaize’s eyes. Her skin, which used to be only pale, had visibly become as tender as gelatin, delicate and smooth to the touch. Even when Qin Kaize hugged her a little harder, red marks were left on both sides of her shoulders.
"Does it hurt?" Qin Kaize’s eyes darkened slightly as he gently touched her arm.
"What?" Su Yijia was a bit puzzled and turned her head to look. She saw five finger marks clearly imprinted on her arm, which was quite scary.
"It doesn’t hurt, it’s just easy to leave marks," she shook her head.
As she turned her body, a snowy color appeared. Qin Kaize’s fingertips trembled slightly, and his eyes were filled with astonishing waves. Although Su Yijia had her back to him and couldn’t see anything, she felt like she was being burned alive.
Quickly changing into her daytime clothes, she blushed, feeling a little embarrassed as she glared at the man with those intense eyes.
Qin Kaize didn’t feel embarrassed at all. Instead, the smile on his thin lips became even more playful. He reached out to Su Yijia, waiting for the reluctant girl to take his hand. Then, holding her hand in one hand and pushing the wheelchair with the other, he left the room.
Their eyes fell on the dozens of large and small bamboo baskets in the courtyard, and both of them were surprised.
"Why did you find so many overnight?" Su Yijia seriously doubted whether they had emptied the entire mountain in just one night.
Auntie Chen felt a bit embarrassed and pursed her lips. Another unfamiliar Auntie next to her hurriedly said, "We heard that you wanted to collect a lot of mushrooms. Yesterday afternoon, our whole family went up the mountain, and we just came down this morning. We didn’t dare to stop for a moment and immediately brought these mushrooms over. You don’t want them, do you?"
"Wang Cuihua!" Auntie Chen’s heart skipped a beat when she heard her speak like this. After shouting, she reached out to pull her aside, trying to drag her behind her. But Wang Cuihua stood firm like a rock, unmoved.
Aunt Chen saw that she still had more to say and immediately growled angrily, "Wang Cuihua, that’s enough! This is Xinghua Village, not Jiangxi Village. If you want to make a scene, go back to your own village."
Although the tests showed that their village could grow medicinal herbs, who could guarantee that the higher-ups wouldn’t change the location before they even started planting?
"You Xinghua villagers are about to start growing medicinal herbs. You’ve got money and don’t care about these mushrooms, but we in Jiangxi Village haven’t gotten anything. Now you won’t even let me sell mushrooms? What gives you the right?" Wang Cuihua retorted, her neck stiff with defiance, refusing to back down.
Su Yijia was annoyed by her sharp voice.
"Did I say I won’t take them? I’m just curious how you managed to get so many in just one night," she sighed and spoke to appease them.
If she had known that this person had so much to say, she would have just collected the things without asking questions.
"Okay, let’s not talk about it. Let’s check the mushrooms and weigh them. Please don’t give me any poisonous ones," Su Yijia waved her hand, no longer arguing.
However, as soon as they heard it, the aunties immediately became reluctant.
"No way there are poisonous ones, young comrade. The mushrooms in our mountains are all natural and absolutely cannot be poisonous."
"Yes! If you’re worried after boiling them in hot water, then fry them in boiling oil. As long as they’re cooked, there won’t be any problems."
Okay, okay!
It was all her fault!
She shouldn’t have been so nagging.
Su Yijia knew that she couldn’t argue with these people, so she could only nod along with what they said.
She weighed all the mushrooms in the large and small bamboo baskets according to their requirements, giving out cloth tickets and sugar tickets as needed. However, most of them still wanted money and grain tickets.
After collecting all the mushrooms, Auntie Chen was about to pull her aside to say something when Wang Cuihua came up again.
"Comrade Su, I have something to ask you. Why did you choose Xinghua Village to grow medicinal herbs and not our Jiangxi Village? What’s wrong with Jiangxi Village?”
This was unfair. They were both poor. Why didn’t the leaders consider their difficulties? She said sourly, but this was not just a complaint.
Seeing those sharp eyes staring straight at her, Su Yijia knew that she was forcing her to give a reasonable explanation.
But what explanation could there be?
She couldn’t just say that Uncle Xia felt that there were more families raising medicinal insects in Xinghua Village now, and they were also more honest, could she?
