Chapter 222: So She’s Cannon Fodder Again?!

The chaotic sound of footsteps quickly filled the air. Their men, clutching their wounds, retreated hastily. Gao Huabin immediately opened the door, intending to pull everyone inside first. But just as the door opened, another group burst in. Seeing them raise their weapons again, Su Yijia didn’t think twice. She swiftly bent her wrist and slightly rotated it. The first five or six people who rushed in dropped to the ground instantly.

"Retreat!" shouted one of the intruders, their faces suddenly pale with fear. Dozens of them quickly disappeared outside the courtyard.

Gao Huabin had managed to injure one of their arms, giving Su Yijia another chance to act. Two more fell to the ground as well. Gao Huabin and the others hurriedly retreated back into the room, barricading the door securely.

"Sister-in-law, what kind of weapon is that? It’s so powerful!" Gao Huabin asked in astonishment.

"The bracelet contains tranquilizer needles," Su Yijia explained.

"How long do they last?" asked a man whom Su Yijia had never seen before.

She hadn’t asked about the duration.

"12 hours," 666 quickly provided the answer. Su Yijia relayed the information to the man. He looked pleased, despite the tense situation.

Su Yijia found their reactions odd, but before she could think further, more footsteps approached outside. She raised her arm and knocked down the next wave of intruders. Although the tranquilizer needles were thin as cat hair, the sheer number of them reflected light.

The men hiding in the back noticed the source of the attack and immediately pointed their guns at Su Yijia’s position.

"Host, danger!" 666’s urgent voice was almost a shout. Su Yijia quickly ducked and shrank to the ground.

In the mere seconds she took to evade, dozens of men had already stormed in, kicking down the flimsy wooden barricade.

Although they had weapons, three guns against dozens was an insurmountable disadvantage. The leader’s gaze landed on Qin Kaize, and he sneered.

"Last time you escaped. Instead of cherishing your life, you dared to come after us again."

Qin Kaize stared back fiercely, his eyes filled with violent rage. But after his taunt, the leader didn’t immediately act against him. His gaze shifted to Su Yijia, crouched by the window.

"Are you Qin Kaize’s wife? What did you just do? Why are my men all down?" His lips curled into a sadistic, bloodthirsty smile.

Su Yijia didn’t respond and discreetly slipped her bracelet into her portable space, hidden by her long sleeves.

Seeing her defiance, the leader’s smile turned even more sinister and perverse. Stepping closer in his black leather boots, he approached Su Yijia like a grim reaper.

"Still not talking?" he asked.

Su Yijia looked up at him, her bright red lips tightly pressed together in silence.

The man kept smiling, but suddenly raised his foot and aimed a vicious kick at her face. The force was so great it sliced through the air with a sharp sound.

Qin Kaize’s eyes widened with fury, bloodshot with rage. Su Yijia knew this kick could kill her, so in the next second, she quickly bent backward, her hands grasping the man’s leg and yanking it hard.

The sound of bones breaking echoed as Su Yijia propelled herself from the ground, snatching the weapon from the man’s hand and pressing it against his temple.

"If you don’t want him dead, back off," Su Yijia threatened. The intruders’ faces turned cold. Just when Su Yijia thought they might comply, they instead raised their guns and shot the man she was holding.

Damn!

Su Yijia nearly wet herself in shock. Luckily, she moved quickly, using the man as a shield; otherwise, she would have been riddled with bullets.

Seeing they missed her, the intruders tried to grab her. Gao Huabin and his team rushed forward, engaging in a fierce fight. Seizing the opportunity, Su Yijia activated her bracelet, unleashing more tranquilizer darts.

Ten more men dropped, but others quickly lunged at her. Some aimed for Qin Kaize and her grandparents. She didn’t have time to think, instinctively raising her bracelet and firing at them.

Though she was captured, she managed to protect Qin Kaize and her grandparents. She tossed her weapon to her grandfather while discreetly returning her bracelet to her space.

"You’re asking for it!" growled the man restraining her. Just as he was about to act, Xia Weiguo and his reinforcements burst into the courtyard, evidently having dealt with the guards outside.

The captor clung desperately to Su Yijia. Given her strength, she could easily overpower him, but the gun to her head made any struggle a death sentence.

The man next to her was ruthless, dislocating both her arms.

"Ugh!" Su Yijia screamed in agony, her breathing heavy, tears streaming down her face. Enhanced senses now only amplified her pain.

"Sister-in-law!" Gao Huabin and the others cried out in desperation.

Su Yijia, her head pounding with pain, could barely focus on their voices. The attackers tried to capture Qin Kaize, but Gao Huabin and his men blocked them fiercely. Too far to intervene immediately, they feared any rash move would endanger her life.

Gradually regaining her composure, Su Yijia remained silent, her pain visible but not fear. Being a hostage had some advantages; she was now their bargaining chip.

Xia Weiguo raised his hands, his face pale. "Let Jiajia go, and I will go with you," he offered.

The remaining assailants, hiding behind Su Yijia, slowly retreated.

"You know my identity. Holding me is more advantageous than her. She’s just a civilian with little value."

"You Chinese value civilians the most. But you military types are the ones who truly aren’t afraid to die. And she’s Qin Kaize’s wife! The wife of a hero—there’s no way you’d let anything happen to her," the man sneered, gloating.

They dragged Su Yijia into the kitchen, barricading the door before shouting outside, "You know what we want! Give us what we want and let us leave, and we’ll release her."
