Rotting Land: Survive-Chapter 464 - 460: Mountainside Villa (Part 1)
"Move aside!"
Hearing Wang Qiang’s indisputable tone, Wu Chao and Wenquan Xin, who were busy blocking the way, instinctively stepped aside to clear a path.
"Damn it! You bastard, you were causing quite a collapse on me just now! I’m gonna end you right now!"
"Roar!"
"Roar back at you!"
"Splat!" With a thrust, the sharp steel fork instantly pierced a hole in the creature’s skull.
After the successful strike, Wang Qiang didn’t stop. He kept stabbing several more times until Lin Junfu yelled at him from the side, prompting him to reluctantly stop.
After all, little Fangfang was standing nearby, and Lin Junfu didn’t want their aggressive behavior to leave a bad impression on the child’s young mind.
After dealing with this "Jumper," the Survivor Squad’s three vehicles pulled apart a bit, and upon confirming there were no more "Jumpers," they finally breathed a sigh of relief.
"Qiang, are you alright?" Old Lin asked again.
Wang Qiang patted his chest indifferently as he came back to his senses, though his pained expression still betrayed his injury.
Seeing this, Zhang Zhicai hurried over to him immediately and conducted a thorough examination.
"Dazhuang, Hu, how are you two?" After asking Wang Qiang, Lin Junfu turned his attention to Hu Xiaodong and Wei Dazhuang.
The two of them had also suffered quite a bit in the previous battle, especially Wei Dazhuang, whose bite wounds concerned Lin Junfu greatly.
Fortunately, the protective suit shielded him, resulting in only some pain in the medicated area without any actual skin damage.
Hu Xiaodong, on the other hand, had a minor bruise on his back, requiring some time to heal.
Overall, the Survivor Squad had managed to secure victory in this battle with minimal losses despite the danger.
And in the apocalypse, as long as there are no casualties, other damages are considered acceptable.
"Come on, Wu, A Cheng, let’s take care of the bodies!"
For a smoother journey later, Lin Junfu instructed Wu Chao and the others to place the corpses uniformly at the car doorsteps. After greeting Xu Renjie in the rear vehicle, they opened the door and pushed them out.
Watching the bodies roll away, the survivors finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Having resolved the "Jumper" ambush, a new problem now faced the survivors.
Old Lin, Old Zhao, Hu Xiaodong, Xu Renjie, and Tang Xiaoquan, the team’s key members, communicated through their handheld radios.
Clearly, their path ahead was blocked, and they had to adjust their route, which meant increased uncertainty, making it difficult to reach a consensus.
The vehicles ambled slowly in this aimless state, while Old Lin recounted the current issues to the others in the car.
He hoped everyone could put their heads together and decide on the next course.
This led to another round of intense discussion, but its content wasn’t drastically different from what Old Lin and the others had already deliberated.
Just as the discussion seemed to be reaching another stalemate, Wei Yang, who was comforting Fangfang, suddenly came up with an idea: "Uncle Lin, if possible, should we maybe stop over there?"
Raising her slender finger slightly, Wei Yang pointed to the place where she had previously promised Fangfang a pinky swear.
Lin Junfu stood up and looked outside, his once relaxed face gradually furrowing.
His brain quickly weighed the options, and after a few seconds, he decisively picked up the radio and communicated Wei Yang’s suggestion with the convoy’s front and rear vehicles.
This time, they finally reached a unanimous decision to park for observation before making the final decision.
To avoid another "Jumper" attack, the three vehicles stopped in an open area that was free from signs and car obstructions, minimizing the chances of a sneak attack by a "Jumper."
Even if they unfortunately encountered such a situation again, they could drive away quickly and avoid it.
"Everyone, stay alert and keep a lookout around. Do not open the doors or windows without permission!" After giving these instructions, Old Lin returned to his seat for the binoculars and began surveying the mountain slope ahead.
At the same time, Old Zhao and Xu Renjie were doing the same thing.
Through the binoculars, they could clearly see a high-end villa hidden among the trees.
From the villa’s size, it appeared to be able to accommodate all members of the Survivor Squad. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Looking at the surrounding terrain of the villa, besides a one-way passage into and out of the villa area, access was only via the air or hiking through the mountain forest.
Moreover, the villas were spaced far apart, likely designed to give affluent buyers enough privacy.
After all, wealthy people place high importance on this aspect, choosing such a secluded place to escape the city’s noise and disturbances.
These factors are crucial for survival in the apocalypse. Furthermore, the villa’s mid-mountain location provided a broad view, allowing a clear overlooking of the area several kilometers below.
In other words, if another convoy were to pass on the highway below, those in the villa could spot them immediately and prepare accordingly.
Based on all of these aspects, the villa here seemed ideal as an apocalyptic shelter, considering safety, defense, comfort, and location.
This led Xu Renjie to make up his mind as he couldn’t find a reason against going there.
Both Old Lin and Old Zhao shared this view after observing the villa’s layout on the mountainside.
Thus, after reporting and communicating with the remaining members, the convoy, which had stayed put for more than ten minutes, hit the road again, with the villa as their target.
However, the journey turned out to be much more complicated than anticipated, mainly due to unfamiliar roads, resulting in numerous wrong turns as the survivors navigated off the highway.
Finally, with the guidance of a signpost, they began moving toward the target location.
About twenty minutes after leaving the highway, the elusive villa area finally appeared in the survivors’ sight.
The three vehicles successively drove onto a mountain road, eventually stopping about 500 meters from their target.
"Vehicle 2, Vehicle 3, please stay put. We’ll head to the villa to check the situation. Do not take any action until instructed! Do you understand? Over."
"Vehicle 2 understands, over!"
"Vehicle 3 understands, over!"
"Okay, Xiao Tang, Hua Biao, you stay in the car for watch duty. Lei Tong, come with me!"
With these words, Xu Renjie motioned to Lei Tong behind him, disembarked one after the other, and headed toward the villa. (To be continued.
