Rotting Land: Survive-Chapter 463 - 459: Black Shadow Behind the Sign (7)
"Hey! Old Xu? Can you see how many creatures are on top of my car? Over!" Considering safety, Lin Junfu dismissed the idea of sending someone to climb up, so he had to rely on Xu Renjie in the car behind to confirm the number of "Jumpers" on the roof for him.
Upon receiving the transmission, Xu Renjie didn’t say a word, gently stepped on the brakes twice to reduce the speed, and after putting some distance between his car and the one in front, Tang Xiaoquan beside him quickly peered out and replied to Lin Junfu, "There’s still two, repeat, there are still two on the rooftop, over!"
"Received! There’s one on your roof too! Be careful! Over!"
"How is it, Old Lin, how many are there?" Eager to know the result, Wang Qiang hurried over with the Steel Fork to ask.
Lin Junfu didn’t hide anything and answered truthfully, "There are still two."
"So what do we do?"
Lin Junfu pondered for a moment, then immediately lifted his head, "We’ll stick to the original plan, sniping the creatures from below."
After briefly explaining his strategy to the others, the Survivors, upon hearing it, all agreed and began to get busy as per Lin’s instructions.
Wu Chao and Wen Quanxin each held shields forming the first line of defense to prevent the creatures from jumping down when the roof door was opened.
Wang Qiang and Hu Xiaodong were tasked with the killing, each holding a weapon.
In addition, to ensure safety, Acheng and Wei Dazhuang set up a second line of defense at the back of the vehicle to prevent any creatures that broke through from causing havoc inside the car.
Once everyone was in their positions, Lin Junfu gestured, and Hu Xiaodong raised his bow, ready for action. The atmosphere suddenly grew tense.
After carefully identifying the creature’s position, Lin Junfu decisively climbed the ladder, and as soon as he opened the roof door, he slid back down.
Almost immediately after he descended, Wang Qiang moved into place with his fork.
Wu Chao and Wen Quanxin also quickly set up their defensive shields.
By this time, the trap for the Jumpers was set, and now it was just a matter of seeing when they would take the bait.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!" Known for his impatience, Wang Qiang couldn’t stand waiting, so in his haste to solve the grave problem, he knocked his Steel Fork against the car frame, provoking loudly, "Hey! You dog bastard! Your Brother Qiang is waiting here, if you’ve got the guts, just freaking come over! Don’t dawdle, damn it!"
To no surprise, Wang Qiang’s racket gave the previously disoriented Jumpers a target. They sprang into action immediately, and the Survivors inside the car could only hear a series of "thump, thump" scuttling sounds from the rooftop. The next second, a black shadow appeared in their vision.
"Whoosh~" The whistling arrow tore through the air with a cold gleam as Hu Xiaodong unhesitatingly released it immediately.
The sharp arrow hit the target without fail, though whether it finished off the creature remained uncertain.
But this was no longer important to the Survivors because the creature fell right onto Wang Qiang’s Steel Fork.
Upon witnessing this, Lin Junfu, who was already in position, quickly pierced his spear from the back row, and a wealth of black blood poured down, signaling the end for the first creature to show its face!
"Quick! Quickly get it off!" Knowing there was still another creature, Lin Junfu shouted loudly, but just as he shouted, danger struck.
Wang Qiang felt a sharp pain in his palm as the weight from the Steel Fork dropped down hard, despite his best efforts to hold on, the powerful downward force left him no choice but to release the Steel Fork.
Damn! That was Wang Qiang’s first thought after losing grip, and the next moment he was pinned to the ground by the falling corpse.
But that’s not all; the more terrifying aspect was that as the corpse fell, an infiltrating Jumper took the opportunity to leap into the vehicle.
The abrupt situation caught everyone off guard, and the Survivors experienced a momentary mental breakdown.
Inside the carriage, the Jumper gave an excited roar. The car full of delicious prey made it unable to contain its excitement.
Glancing at the Survivors beside it, it prepared to pounce. At this critical juncture, Wei Dazhuang suddenly stood up, shouting loudly to his still stunned companions, "What are you doing standing there? Get in and kill it!"
The words woke everyone up like a slap, giving Lin Junfu a jolt.
What am I doing? How could I freeze at such a crucial moment?
Feeling guilty, he quickly assessed the situation and realized the result was simple: stop the creature’s movement, otherwise, if it breaks through, those behind—Wang Zhongyu, Wei Yang, Fangfang, and He Jing—will be in danger.
"Quick! Wu Chao, Xiao Wen, don’t just stand there! Use the shield to block it!"
Receiving the command, Wu Chao and Wen Quanxin dare not slack off and quickly approached with their shields.
Seeing its prey coming closer, the Jumper’s face became even more bloodthirsty.
"Bang!"
Wen Quanxin staggered back a step, luckily he was prepared, otherwise, the Jumper’s sudden charge would have knocked him to the ground.
However, the creature’s reaction was incredibly fast, and before he could regain his stance, a second strike followed.
"Watch out, Xiao Wen!" Realizing the potential disaster, Hu Xiaodong forgot everything else, dropping his Compound Bow and sprinting to Wen Quanxin’s side.
Almost as soon as he laid a hand on the latter’s back, a violent impact passed through Wen Quanxin’s body.
"Damn!" Cursed Hu Xiaodong helplessly as he hadn’t expected the creature to have such explosive power.
Perhaps agitated by the shield, the Jumper’s attacks intensified.
"Thump, thump, thump!"
The creature’s reckless actions aroused the Survivors’ fighting spirit, and Wei Dazhuang took a step forward, adding his strength to Hu Xiaodong’s defense effort.
At the same time, Wei Yang, Fangfang, and Zhang Zhicai joined the fight from the other side.
The Survivors, using their collective strength, gradually compressed the Jumper’s movement space.
As the available space dwindled, the creature’s attacks steadily weakened.
Finally, through a concerted effort, it was cornered. No matter how it struggled, it couldn’t budge the restraining shield even a little.
"You motherfucker!" With a soft curse, Wang Qiang exerted great effort to push the corpse off and climbed back up, his body wracked with pain, fueling his rage towards the creature.
Seeing Wang Qiang covered in blood, with a fierce look on his face, Lin Junfu worriedly asked, "Xiao Wang, are you alright?"
The young man didn’t answer; instead, he picked up the police Steel Fork indifferently and walked slowly towards the cornered Jumper...
