Rotting Land: Survive-Chapter 418 - 416: Human Purgatory (6)
Dai Sha got off the vehicle with an air of bravado. After surveying the area, he fled towards the south where there were fewer Zombies.
But his attempt to escape was thwarted as the creatures immediately switched to chase mode, tightly following him.
Both sides, humans and zombies alike, moved forward with all their might. Fortunately, the vast majority of "walking corpses" were drawn into the Yuhuan Gymnasium, so there weren’t many Zombies along the way to obstruct Dai Sha.
This rekindled a spark of hope in his otherwise despairing mind.
One street, two streets, three streets, even Dai Sha himself didn’t know how many streets he had run through. Nevertheless, despite his efforts and relentless perseverance, the creatures behind him clung on like a persistent plague.
"Goddamn it! Get lost! Get the hell away from me! Keep following me and I’ll fucking shoot!"
Undoubtedly, the unyielding spirit of the tireless beasts was driving Dai Sha insane, otherwise, he wouldn’t have bothered "playing music to brainless Zombies."
Another 50 to 60 meters of running left the once indulgent Dai Sha, who had spent months squandering and debauching, finally feeling his stamina waning. His previously steady breathing grew rapid, and his legs felt weighed down as if filled with lead.
He began to regret not strengthening himself in the past days, otherwise, he wouldn’t be in such a sorry state now.
His body, hollowed by debauchery, became increasingly uncontrollable. In contrast, the creatures behind him grew more excited.
As one weakened and the other gained strength, the distance between them continued to shrink. Worse still, as he moved further from the gym, Zombies began to populate the surrounding streets again.
After another 20 to 30 meters, his exhausted self finally collapsed in front of a small shop.
The shop wasn’t large, only about 10 square meters. Behind the glass doors, various books and comics were displayed on a showcase.
Dai Sha had no interest in these; he just wanted a safe place to hide and rest temporarily.
However, this shop clearly didn’t meet those conditions. Besides, the glass door alone couldn’t withstand the brute force of the Zombies.
Reluctantly, he dragged his heavy steps forward, but after a few steps, he stumbled and fell due to exhaustion.
Indeed, misfortunes never come singly. Fallen down, Dai Sha tried to get up, but this brief delay provided an opportunity for his pursuers behind him.
"Damn it! Really cursed!" Hearing the rustling footsteps behind him, Dai Sha quickly turned his head and frantically fired a round.
But his shooting was unnecessary, as there was only one Zombie attacking, which he could have easily handled with the dagger on his waist.
But being forced into a corner, Dai Sha couldn’t care less, his fingers moved convulsively as if possessed, pulling the trigger over and over.
The bullets were used up instantly, yet the Zombie that was knocked down stood back up like a resilient cockroach.
Gazing incredulously at the creature riddled with holes before him, Dai Sha’s face showed no expression, only a grave look.
Soon, Zombies attracted by the gunshots began to gather around him, closing in little by little.
Dai Sha instinctively rubbed his thighs, quickly drew out the 92 semi-automatic pistol from his side, and fired several shots at the heads of the Black Shadows before him.
The 92 model holds 15 rounds of 9mm bullets, but Dai Sha’s poor marksmanship only managed to take down 3 creatures.
After the shooting ceased, Dai Sha lost his last vestige of hope. He tried to flee once again, but his collar was seized by an external force.
Instinctively, his survival instinct forced him to turn around, and with all his strength, he smashed the gun downward fiercely on the Zombie attacking him.
"Crash! Cr-crash!" Blow after blow, the Zombie’s skull shattered, its spraying gore splattering all over Dai Sha’s face.
At this moment, Dai Sha indeed resembled a Demon God emerging from a Hellish Battlefield, yet his fierce and malevolent demeanor couldn’t deter the creatures in the least.
"Stay back! Stay the hell back! Anyone who dares comes near, I’ll kill them!"
With a threatening flail, his arms moved wildly, Dai Sha posed as someone ready for mutual destruction.
He knew his fate was sealed, and everything he was doing was just a last struggle for survival.
Soon, the incessantly gathering creatures closed in on him, and the once bright environment dimmed due to the surrounding horde of corpses.
As the light diminished to a single point, Dai Sha was completely engulfed by the surrounding corpses.
"Ah! Ah! Ah!"
The harrowing screams came quickly and faded just as swiftly. This villainous leader, once arrogant and harboring evil ambitions, finally met his deserved punishment under his heinous crimes.
However, Heaven’s retribution on him seemed exceptionally heavy-handed.
Inside Yuhuan Gymnasium, an eerie silence reigned, and the earlier shouts and screams now all subsided into quietude.
Everywhere in sight, blood mixed with torn flesh, and various viscera strewn across the ground.
The once bustling tent area had turned into a human "slaughterhouse", toppled tents, and scattered supplies starkly highlighted the catastrophe.
In the players’ lounge, in a room with a closed iron door, three figures were pressed against the door, attentively listening to the commotion outside.
"How is it? Is it quiet now?"
Luo Yi gestured a Silence and quickly pulled the questioning companion aside, then quietly replied, "There’s something happening in the corridor! If my analysis is correct, the base must have been attacked!"
"Attacked!?" These words instantly drew exclamations from the two soldiers, who exchanged glances and then said, "Could it be that the captain has taken the team to raid the gym?"
Shaking his head slightly, Luo Yi doubted the captain had the capability to execute such a task.
"If not the captain, then who could it be?"
Regarding his comrades’ doubt, Luo Yi had no answer.
But one thing was certain, this attack incident was extremely serious, which could be inferred from the distress screams and gunshots they had been hearing from inside the room.
After pondering with his elbows propped, Luo Yi slowly raised his head, then lowered his voice and said, "Brothers, we need to find a way to get out!"
"Get out?" The two soldiers were somewhat skeptical.
"Yes! Get out! The outside is in chaos, and the guards outside have been withdrawn! Clearly, they can’t take care of us, so we should seize this chaotic gap to escape, and then see if we can get weapons and vehicles."
"But, the door is locked, and we don’t have a key!"
In response, Luo Yi rubbed his head, and then looked up at the high ceiling...(To be continued.
