Rogue Villain-Chapter 243: Left
Ackster exchanged an excited look with Mio before yanking the door open, prepared for both treasures and defensive mechanisms. However, what greeted them wasn’t anything worthy of their excitement. It was just a simple drawing room with a table, two chairs, and two couches in the middle. But there was a door on the other side.
After looking around the room briefly and confirming it was just a place to rest and receive guests coming from the box of death entrance and that there weren’t any hidden entrances, Ackster and Mio opened the door. This time, another corridor greeted them.
But this corridor wasn’t bare, spare for torches. It still had the blue flickering lights, but it also had doors lining the walls. It was the same simple design as the previous doors they had passed through.
Naturally, Ackster opened and rummaged through each and every disappointingly empty bedroom.
Ackster left the last room of the corridor before the next door with disappointment. The rooms didn’t have anything interesting in them except soft mattresses. Where was the good stuff?
But things got better the further he advanced. First, it was a box of death. Then, it was an empty corridor, then a drawing room with furniture, and then a resting area. If the pattern continued, Ackster could start expecting something useful soon.
So, he opened the door with forced hope.
"Jackpot!"
The next room was significantly bigger than even the drawing room, and it had shelves and racks with tools, armor, and weapons of various kinds. As Ackster had expected, everything was in surprisingly good condition and of high quality. The things he found were better than almost everything in his Inventory.
’Time to stock up.’
Ackster smiled as he stuffed everything into his Inventory. Even if he didn’t find a use for everything, which he could if he wanted to, he could give a few sets of weapons and armor to Wilma.
After that, Ackster left the room, eagerly anticipating what he would find next. However, he couldn’t help but be disappointed when, instead of a pile of riches, he found a crossroads.
The next corridor split in two.
"What do you think, Mio?"
Ackster’s gut was telling him to head in one direction, but he still wanted to hear what Mio had to say about it. Fortunately, Mio agreed with his gut and pointed to the left.
After a couple of moments, the corridor widened. It became higher and wider. It was at least two or three times its previous circumference. At the far end of the corridor, Ackster also saw a large set of intricately decorated double doors.
"Oh, boy. This is pretty exciting."
Ackster stood in front of the doors. Whatever hid behind the doors was calling to him, basically screaming its worth. Ackster reached toward the doors and was about to push them open when a hand landed on his shoulder.
Ackster froze for a split second before activating Limit Breaker, releasing his vitality, and reinforcing his body with mana in the same movement as he broke free from the hand and distanced himself from the holder.
’...What the fuck kind of monster is this?’
It was the first time Ackster had felt so outmatched. Not even when he was a fresh adventurer had he felt this kind of danger or gap. Not even Kargas had made him feel like this. And Ackster had grown tremendously since his encounter with Kargas. The latter wouldn’t be very intimidating now.
However, the handsome man in silky clothes scared the shit out of Ackster merely by touching him. But that was enough. Ackster’s Overhuman Senses, instincts, and Iron Body weren’t that easy to surprise. So, the man who did just that had to be ridiculous or extremely talented in stealth.
For some reason, maybe due to his growing awareness of the man, Ackster didn’t think he specialized in stealth. If anything, it was the opposite. The man was just too strong for Ackster to notice him. He didn’t appear on Ackster’s radar because he was bigger than it.
If Ackster hadn’t been as strong as he was now, there was no way he could have even recognized the strength of the man in front of him.
’Fucking hell.’
Despite his shock and fear, Ackster’s mind raced and figured out the man’s identity.
Reading about him or even hearing about him from Wilma was nowhere near enough to describe the monstrous being in front of him. There was no comparison or preparation.
Ackster swallowed audibly as he controlled himself and took back his strength. The fact that he was still in one piece was proof enough that the black-haired man had no intention of harming him.
"...Sword God."
Ackster composed himself as best as he could with a walking nuke who could go off anytime next to him. He greeted the Sword God with a stiff nod.
"Mm."
The Sword God just hummed slightly as he removed his hand from the area around his scabbard and turned to the door.
’That’s a relief.’ 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
As long as the Sword God had something to be interested in, he couldn’t care less about Ackster. That belief in the Sword God’s personality was why Ackster had even agreed to go. That and the fact that he didn’t think he would be meeting him.
The Sword God volunteering to enter the ruins meant there was something there he wanted. And the Sword God was the kind of person to only want one thing at a time. It was just that he wanted it to an extreme degree, and he had the strength to get rid of any obstacle in his path. He also didn’t have any consideration for others.
There was also the fact that his mind worked in mysterious ways. All together, the Sword God was a strong, mysterious, indecipherable, crazy, volatile, unreliable, dangerous, and scary individual.
The Sword God shot Ackster a look before opening the door as if he could tell what was going on in Ackster’s mind. Ackster hurried to put on a blank face, feigning ignorance.
The Sword God ignored Ackster and turned to the doors, pushing them open.
