Roadmap to the Boundless Sky-Chapter 230.2: Set Off (Part Two)
Chapter 230.2: Set Off (Part Two)
After Chen Chuan and Cheng Zitong left the administrative office building, the latter said, “I’ve already contacted the main campus. You can leave on the tenth day of the New Year. I’ll send you there. When you reach Central City, someone will pick you up. Remember to get ready before then.”
“Got it. I’ll keep that in mind,” Chen Chuan said seriously.
After parting ways with Cheng Zitong, Chen Chuan returned to the dorm and packed up the rest of his things. Then, he thought of something, walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, and glanced out at Spring-Autumn Lake and the scenery in the distance. He stood there for a while before turning around, grabbing his luggage bag, and shutting the door gently behind him.
When he was downstairs, he handed his dorm key to the dormitory supervisor. “I’m leaving now, Sir.”
The dormitory supervisor smiled and said, “Chen Chuan, your friends asked me to hand this to you.”
He pushed a photo album over.
“What’s this?”
Chen Chuan flipped through it and found that it contained scenic photos of the university, photos of his friends, and well-wishes. Among them were Wu Han’s, Feng Xiaoqi’s, Luo Kaiyuan’s, Wei Dong’s, and even the dormitory supervisor’s. He was even the most handsome and stylish of all the photos.
He grinned at that. “Thank you, Sir.”
“Just remember to increase my pension in the future,” the dormitory supervisor grinned right back.
Chen Chuan laughed, said goodbye to the dormitory supervisor, and left the dorm. Perhaps it was because it was almost the holidays, but he didn’t run into a lot of people on his way out. The campus was rather deserted.
But when he arrived at the entrance, he found that quite a number of students were waiting there. Some he knew, and some he didn’t. Shu Han stepped forward and said, “Chen Chuan, we heard that you’re leaving, so we’re here to say goodbye.”
Chen Chuan made sure to look at each of them, and he said, “Thank you for sending me off.”
“Goodbye, Chen Chuan!”
“Have a safe trip!”
“Remember to come back and visit us when you’re free.”
The students responded, and Chen Chuan could see hope and longing in their eyes. He knew that they had placed their yearning and desire to go to Central City on him.
When he was about to step through the entrance, Chen Chuan suddenly stopped and turned around. With his back toward the wide, spacious sky, he took in everyone present and said firmly, “Everyone, before us lies a boundless path!”
Then, he walked toward the world outside.
Soon after he left, he heard the students behind him repeating what he just said. Their shouts made the trees tremble, and the birds flew across the square to reach the sky above him.
When he reached the edge of the square, a silver-gray Discoverer rolled over and stopped in front of him. The car door opened, and Wei Changan came out to pat his car with a smile. “Chen Chuan, I took you out on a mission on your first day as a university student. Now that you’re leaving, let me send you off one last time.”
Chen Chuan smiled, opened the car door, and got in.
Once he was back at the constables’ residential area, Chen Chuan parted ways with Wei Changan at the alley and went back home. He wanted to spend the final stretch of time before he went to Central City with his family.
But this year, Nian Qian was still unable to come back. Still, he did send a telegram saying that once the railway connected their cities next year, he should be able to return. He also congratulated Chen Chuan on being able to go to Central City.
Over the next few days, Chen Chuan didn’t go anywhere else and celebrated the New Year at home.
In the blink of an eye, it was the 94th year of the Development and Order Era.
During the New Year, he went out on visits with his family and watched the tournament. He also asked Ding Jiao and his high school friends out for a meal. With the time left, he started preparing the things he would need to go to Central City.
In the morning of the tenth day of the New Year, Cheng Zitong called him. “Ready, Xiao Chuan?”
“Yeah,” Chen Chuan answered.
“Good. I’ll pick you up. I’ll be there in a minute.”
Once Chen Chuan put down the phone receiver, he turned to Nian Fuli and Yu Wan. “I’ll be leaving now, Aunty, Uncle.”
“Remember to call when you’re there, Chan’er.”
“I will,” Chen Chuan promised. Then, he said to Nian Fuli, “Goodbye, Uncle.”
“We won’t be by your side to take care of you anymore, so you have to be careful,” Nian Fuli said.
“Bye, Chen Chuan!” Nian Mo and Nian Lu cried out.
Chen Chuan gave them both a nod. Once he finished saying goodbye to his family, he picked up his luggage bag and the Frost King Saber before walking out of the courtyard. While his family watched, he stepped out of the gate.
When he reached the entrance of the alley, he waited for a few minutes before Cheng Zitong’s car arrived. He wound down the window to reveal his even rounder face. “Put your stuff at the back, Xiao Chuan.”
“Okay,” Chen Chuan said and put his luggage bag into the trunk. Then, he went to the front passenger seat and fastened his seatbelt.
“Ready?” Cheng Zitong asked.
“Ready.”
“Alright. Let me send you there.”
“Thank you, Mr. Cheng.”
“Seriously, you... You’re just too polite.”
The car eased into motion. While the morning sun shone on it, the car went down the main road, crossed the entire city, and headed toward the brighter and more dazzling distance.
