Road to becoming the wealthiest: Starting From Treasure Hunting in the Cabinets-Chapter 79 - Practice Treasure Hunt
Chapter 79: Chapter 79: Practice Treasure Hunt
Chapter 79 -79: Practice Treasure Hunt
George set the meeting place at a restaurant in New York City.
George cut his steak as he spoke to Sean Knight:
“The beef at this place comes from my ranch, so you should taste it. My ranch’s beef is quite good!”
Sean had already mastered the use of a knife and fork.
As he cut his beef, he asked:
“About this treasure hunt …”
George stuffed a piece of meat into his mouth, chewed a few times, swallowed it, and then smiled and said:
“Youngsters are so impatient.”
He then took a piece of paper out of his pocket and put it on the table for Sean:
“The clues are all on this paper. However, you need to know that you will bear all the costs for finding the treasure. If the treasure is found, the provider of the clues will get a twenty percent share.”
Sean nodded.
“Then, let’s sign this.” George wiped his mouth with a napkin and pulled out another piece of paper:
“This is the contract.”
Sean carefully looked at the contents which were very simple: there were only two points. First, George provided a treasure clue to Sean. Second, based on the treasure clue, Sean would look for the treasure. If found, twenty percent would be given to the clue provider.
Sean couldn’t find any traps, so he signed.
George stood up and said:
“Now that everything’s settled, the rest is up to you, young man. I believe you can do it! Good luck!”
He then turned and left.
Sean finally had time to look at the clue.
The clue was very simple, consisting of just a few sentences.
A World War II military officer named Joseph returned from the battlefield in the Philippines, reportedly bringing back a lot of treasures.
After returning, Joseph retired, bought a manor in the suburbs, married a nurse, and later had two sons.
Eight years later, Joseph died in a car accident. His family discovered that there weren’t many valuables in the house, and the rumored gold and gemstones brought back from the Philippines were nowhere to be found.
It was then speculated that Joseph had hidden the treasure, but didn’t have time to tell his family before the accident.
Not many people knew about this treasure clue. At first, Joseph’s descendants searched the entire farmhouse, but found nothing. Then, they entrusted treasure hunters to search.
Over several decades, six treasure hunters searched for the treasure. The last one found a small box of gold in an abandoned cellar at the end of the last century, but there were no other gains.
Now, the clue was in Sean’s hands.
It was also mentioned on the paper that if Sean found the treasure in the manor, forty percent would go to Joseph’s family. Sixty percent would be split between George, who would get twenty percent, leaving Sean with the remaining forty percent.
It turned out to be right here waiting for him!
Sean felt a bit helpless at his situation.
But thinking about it, it wasn’t too bad.
At the very least, since other people provided the clue, it would be only fair to give them some reward if he really found the treasure.
After lunch, Sean returned to the port.
Based on the information provided by Mr. John, there were still several containers salvaged from the sea being auctioned at the port dock today.
When Sean arrived at the port with Jason Caldwell, the auction had already started.
The auctioneer was introducing the origin of the containers:
“These two containers came from the oil-rich Middle Eastern countries! The ship encountered pirates halfway through, so the containers were thrown into the sea. The cargo owner didn’t want them after they were salvaged.”
The auctioneer was obviously trying to get more money for the containers now that this information was public.
The auction assistant used pliers to cut the lock and opened the door, revealing the contents inside.
A strong fishy smell filled the air.
Inside the container, several large pieces of furniture were wrapped in seaweed and other unknown sea plants.
These pieces of furniture would have been quite valuable when they were intact, but they were now worthless.
Because of the size of the furniture, it was difficult to see the entire contents of the container, so everyone craned their necks to see what was inside.
Luckily, everyone was quite well-mannered. Sean pretended to give just a cursory glance, but his heart was racing with excitement.
However, he maintained a calm demeanor on the surface and backed away a couple of steps.
Elder Joey came up to him and said loudly:
“Sean, I heard those Latino Americans are causing you trouble! You better watch out these days!”
Sean was quite annoyed with this guy, but he couldn’t be rude to him right now. Pretending not to care, he said:
“It’s them who should be careful! Would I be afraid of them? If they dare to mess with me, I’ll let them taste the power of Chinese Kung Fu!”
Sean Knight naturally didn’t just say it like that, other people even felt that Sean was right!
Sean has fought with others several times, either hearing about it or witnessing it in person, his combat power is definitely not something an ordinary person can withstand.
The auctioneer began:
“This container from the country of wealth is now up for auction with a reserve price of 500 US dollars. Each increment must be no less than 100 dollars. Now open for bidding. Mr. Madden bids 5,000 dollars. 5,000 dollars, are there any other bids…?”
With the reserve price at 500, Mr. Madden employed his usual tactic and increased the bid directly to 5,000, to which Elder Joey angrily shoved him!
Old Madden remained unfazed, staring intently at the container, as if he had already collected it.
Sean raised his hand:
“6,000 dollars!”
Diana Smith raised her hand:
“6,500 dollars!”
The Ralph Brothers also raised their hands:
“8,000 dollars!”

The price quickly soared to 11,000 dollars, with old Madden, the Ralph Brothers, and Sean still competing.
Old Madden raised his hand again:
“Fifteen thousand dollars!”
Ralph Brothers increased the bid:
“16,000 dollars!”
Sean raised his hand: “20,000 dollars!”
This price directly scared off the other two bidders.
Old Madden shrugged his shoulders:
“There’s still one more, this one is yours. Sean, you really have guts!”
Sean smiled:
“I just think this one looks more pleasing to the eye.”
After paying the money, the auctioneer turned to the second container to prepare for the auction.
A group of people followed him, but a few people stayed behind.
The Ralph Brothers came to watch Sean and Jason Caldwell clear the container.
Sean was puzzled and asked:
“Aren’t you bidding anymore?”
“We are.” Ralph told his two younger brothers to go see the other container, while he leaned in to Sean and whispered:
“Sean, can we cooperate in the future? I think whatever container you are interested in, there must be good things inside!”
Sean shook his head and said:
“I have other things to do, and I don’t have much time for bidding on containers later on. Let’s forget about cooperation.”
Ralph left with some regret.
After he left, the busty woman Diana Smith came over and bumped Sean with her shoulder:
“Sean, what do you say, let’s cooperate? In the future, I’ll support you all the way in bidding for the containers you are interested in. If we bid for good things, we go half and half!”
What’s with today?
Sean was puzzled, but he declined and gave the same reason as he did to Ralph.
Diana was still unwilling to give up, she wanted to grind a bit, but Sean and Jason pulled out a water-logged Simmons mattress from the container. The smell of mustiness rushed over, and Diana quickly covered her nose and left.
This mattress was obviously ruined.
Afterwards, they pulled out a wooden cabinet. The wood had already rotted due to water exposure. Sean flipped through it, and there wasn’t much value left in the clothes inside the cabinet.
The remaining onlookers left to watch the other container being auctioned after finding out that there seemed to be only old furniture inside.
Since there were only two containers and one was already taken, the desire to compete was all directed towards the other one.
Then, very quickly, the price of the remaining container soared to 18,000 dollars, and it was still rising!
Sean dragged a bunch of seaweed out of the container and looked at the other one.
Looking through the door of the container, there was furniture in there as well, but through the crevices, several suitcases could be seen.
Perhaps it was these suitcases that were enticing these people to offer high prices.
However, only Sean knew that there were just clothes and books in those suitcases and nothing but things that were of no value at the moment.
Unlike his container, which had a big guy inside!
