Road to becoming the wealthiest: Starting From Treasure Hunting in the Cabinets-Chapter 62 - Meeting a Newcomer
Chapter 62: Chapter 62: Meeting a Newcomer
Chapter 62 -62: Meeting a Newcomer
The security guard handed the lock to Sean Knight when he didn’t make a move and then followed the auctioneer in front.
Someone kindly reminded Sean behind him:
“If you still want to bid on the auction, lock up this warehouse now and continue walking ahead. You can take a day to clean out this warehouse. During this day, it’s all yours.”
Sean suddenly realized it and quickly turned his head to thank a skinny girl who had reminded him.
A white girl with freckles on her face smiled and said:
“No problem. I’m also new here. I’ve only been here twice and haven’t managed to get a warehouse yet.”
Sean locked the warehouse and walked ahead. The girl asked curiously:
“Are you Chinese? Not many Chinese people come to auction warehouses.”
“Yes, I’m Chinese. Thank you for not mistaking me for someone from Japan or Korea.” Sean replied sincerely.
“Oh, it’s because I had Chinese classmates when I went to university.” The girl laughed, “Their gratitude is genuine. Japanese and Koreans are often overly polite… I can’t describe it, but I can feel it.”
They arrived at the second warehouse as they talked.
The security guard had already cut the door lock, and people interested in bidding were observing.
However, this one was filled with old chairs, furniture, and a few boxes of worthless items, which made some people less interested in bidding.
Sean switched on Sky Eye and found that none of these people had a gun on them.
At a glance, the items in the warehouse showed signs of heavy wear and tear; hardly any of them had any reuse value.
The only thing that caught Sean’s attention was the two Gothic chairs at the very front of the warehouse.

These two chairs were tightly wrapped in plastic bags and were well preserved.
If they were authentic, they could fetch a decent price.
“Are you going to bid on this warehouse?” The girl asked Sean.
“Let’s see. Are you bidding?” Sean asked back.
“I don’t have much money…”
Sean smiled, knowing what the girl was thinking: “If you and I are the final competitors, I won’t compete with you. But if you can’t beat others, I might join in.”
The girl happily laughed.
The one-minute observation period ended, and the auctioneer leisurely began the auction:
“The starting price is 10 dollars. Each increase must be at least 5 dollars. Bidding starts now.”
The girl was the first to raise her hand: “Twenty dollars!”
However, except for Sean, no one was going to let her win, even if it looked like the items inside were worthless.
Quickly, the bid went up to eighty dollars, and the girl gave up.
At 100 dollars, both the big-bearded man and the white, fat man gave up, leaving only one black man still bidding.
Sean raised his hand: “120 dollars.”
The tall black man saw Sean’s bid and couldn’t help approaching him to try to “intimidate” him. However, Jason Caldwell blocked him before he could:
“What are you doing? What do you want to do?”
Jason was a tall, strong figure, not backing down from the black man at all.
“Hey, man! What’s it got to do with you?” The black man was unhappy.
“He’s my bosun!” Jason said proudly, “If you want to mess with him, you’ll have to go through me!”
The black man hesitated for a moment but didn’t make a move, having a bit of a paper tiger attitude.
In the end, Sean won the warehouse for 120 dollars.
The security guard once again gave him a lock.
Sean bid twice more after checking out the remaining four warehouses, but didn’t continue to bid on them, as he didn’t find any valuable items.
As for the girl, she didn’t win the last warehouse—Sean noticed that her reserve price was only 80 dollars.
But the final prices for any of these warehouses all exceeded 100 dollars.
Especially that black man, who would get involved with any warehouse, whether it was valuable or not, and would continue to bid as long as the price was below one hundred and fifty dollars.
Sean returned to the second warehouse, unlocked it, and prepared to sort things out when the girl followed him in.
She looked at the items inside and asked Sean:
“Are you taking all this stuff?”
“Yes.” Sean nodded, “These furniture pieces can still sell for some money.”
The girl’s expression dimmed.
Sean smiled and said:
“If the price is right, I can sell some of the furniture to you at a lower price.”
“Really?” The girl’s face lit up with surprise and then became embarrassed again. “I… I don’t have much money.”
“How about this…” Sean pointed to two old sofas and two old chairs and said to her:
“Eighty dollars for these four items. How’s that?”
“Great! That’s fantastic!” The girl nodded vigorously, quickly handed Sean the money, and then ran out, presumably to look for a way to transport the old furniture pieces.
These old pieces of furniture were worth about 120 to 130 dollars, so the girl could make several tens of dollars. It was Sean’s way of thanking her for her reminder.
He and Jason moved the four pieces outside and set them aside. Then they started unwrapping the packaging on the Gothic chairs inside.
Just then, the girl came back happily and said:
“My truck is right outside. Can you guys help me move the stuff there?”
Sean asked Jason to help load the girl’s items on the truck. Before the girl left, she saw the chairs.
“Gothic chairs?” The girl, who had initially planned to leave, stayed and walked around the chairs, looking at them and asking.
“Do you recognize these chairs?” Sean asked, a little surprised.
“Yes, I do.” The girl closely inspected the chairs and finally confirmed:
“These two chairs should be 18th-century antiques!
I’ve seen them at my teacher’s place. He’s an antique furniture collector, and he has a chair like this, but it’s not as well-preserved as this one…”
“Can you help me get in touch with him?” Sean was happy. “If I can sell it at an appropriate price, I’ll give you a commission.”
“Really?” The girl was overjoyed and immediately took out her mobile phone. With one hand, she dialed a number, and with the other, she stretched out to Sean:
“Hi, my name is Annie. What’s yours?”
“My name is Sean.”
She quickly connected the call, and a middle-aged man’s voice came through the other end:
“Annie, what made you call me?”
“James, I’m at a warehouse treasure hunt right now. A friend here found two well-preserved Gothic chairs. I was wondering if you’d be interested?”
“Really? That’s great!… Oh, could you send me some photos or videos to check it out?”
The person on the other end first exclaimed excitedly, and then quickly calmed down. Sean guessed that this James was probably considering the authenticity of the items.
Annie looked at Sean.
Sean gestured for her to feel free to take photos.
Immediately, Annie told her phone:
“James, I’m taking a video for you right now.”
After hanging up, she professionally circled the two chairs and took photos.
At this time, Jason had started moving some useful things onto the pickup truck outside. As for the unusable items, he piled them together, planning to find a place to throw them away later.
