Chapter 49 -49: They Can Actually Speak Chinese!
Judy’s expression changed in an instant, and she reached out her hand with a smile:
“Sean, you really have great luck! These things are really rare!”
Sean had just chatted with the container owner and knew the truth, so he took the opportunity to put on an act:
“Of course. These things aren’t something ordinary freight yard owners have. They were brought over by some foreign government agency. It’s just that they were abandoned here for some special reasons…”
“No wonder!” Judy’s face showed an expression of sudden realization. In fact, both of them knew it was just a collaboration.
No matter whose it was originally, now it doesn’t matter in the Beautiful Country. If you don’t pay the rent, even if it’s government-owned, it will still be auctioned off!
After a brief chat, Judy immediately crouched down to examine the items.
Sean continued to move things out with Jason.
On Jason’s body was the jacket he had taken out of the previous container, and he didn’t mind the heat. He grinned with a very happy expression.
As Sean went inside, he pulled the dust cover open and rolled out the BMW motorcycle. The people who were attending the auction over there gasped and ran over.
Many in the crowd were good at identifying valuable items!
“Antique?” Someone asked.
“Not exactly an antique.” Sean pretended to be nonchalant and said, “A German army’s motorcycle from the World War II era, not too old.”
Indeed, compared to 5000 years of Chinese history, something from 70 or 80 years ago can’t be called an antique.
But how many years is the history of Americans?
When they heard it was from the World War II German army, several more people rushed over!
The Auctioneer had no choice but to pause the auction. The container owner looked helplessly and simply came over as well.
Judy saw the situation and knew that it was going to be an expensive purchase.
With so many knowledgeable people, it would not be easy to push down the price.
“Can it be started?” George Qiao asked.
Sean shook his head: “It looks pretty new, but without a thorough inspection, I don’t know if there’s any fuel in it, or if the wires are in good condition…”
“Let me have a look!” Judy was also very happy to see this item.
A World War II German army motorcycle in such good condition could make a good profit, even if purchased at a high price!
After examining it from head to toe, she said:
“The original paint, the engine is fine. There’s no fuel inside, so it won’t start. However, if there’s fuel, it should start…”
“How much is it worth?” Elder Joey rushed over, very unconvinced.
However, there was nothing he could do about it. This was not the first time he had lost to Sean.
“For this motorcycle, twelve thousand dollars is a suitable price.” Judy gently tapped the motorcycle seat.
The light green body and classic design showed that this motorcycle was extraordinary.
“Alright, alright, disperse,” the freight yard owner called out. “The auction will continue!”
People gradually left, and Sean’s good luck could be heard from the conversations.
After checking everything, Judy began to settle the bill:
“Seventy sets of paratrooper equipment, eighty dollars per set, a total of five thousand six hundred dollars…”
She took out the calculator and continued:
“Motorcycle, twelve thousand dollars, the miscellaneous equipment adds up to one thousand dollars, a total of eighteen thousand six hundred dollars…”
“Twenty thousand,” Sean interrupted her.
“This price is a bit high,” Judy put down the calculator.
“Then I’ll sell it to someone else.” Sean was still a little bothered about Judy making money off him the last time.
Updated from freewёbnoνel.com.
“Alright, alright,” Judy’s stern face immediately turned into a smile. “Since we’re such good partners, twenty thousand it is.”
Cost of five thousand, income of twenty thousand, a net profit of fifteen thousand dollars.
Worth it!
After collecting the money and handing over the container to Judy, Sean and Jason went to the second container.
Jason had already found some usable clothes and other items from the second container and put them separately in a box.
The garbage was piled to one side.
Sean noticed that Jason also took care of some small appliances and household items.
Is this kid’s family really that poor?
However, Sean didn’t ask and went in to take out the three travel bags.
Upon opening the first one, there was a relatively well-packaged film projector inside!
Judy, who was waiting for the workers to move things, saw Sean carrying another intact film projector and walked over to squat down and check it out.
“How about it? Are you interested?” Sean asked.
“Hmm, good quality!” Although Judy mainly dealt with second-hand military supplies, she could also collect an old-fashioned film projector.
After she had inspected it, she stood up, clapping the dust off her hands, and asked:
“Are you selling?”
“Of course.” Sean said.
“How about 500 dollars?”
“That’s fine.” Sean knew that this was just a matter of interest. To those interested, it had some value; but to those who weren’t, it was just garbage.
Sean opened the other two bags, which contained old film reels. He told Judy:
“I’ll give these to you.”
“Great!” Judy immediately felt like she made a profit.
After gladly paying 500 dollars, Judy had the workers carefully move the items away.
With these items, she could make a small profit.
Jason looked at Sean enviously but immediately started cleaning up trash.
Sean helped out, and they quickly cleaned up the place before handing it over to the freight yard owner who had just finished the auction.
Jason, carrying two big bags, asked Sean:
“Boss, are you going to continue with the auction this afternoon?”
“Yes.” Sean nodded.
“How about having a simple meal at my place at noon?” Jason said with hopeful eyes. “My younger siblings all want to meet you. They know that you helped me make money and want to show their gratitude.”
“Okay.” Sean looked at the time. There was still more than an hour before the next auction, so going out to find a place to eat would be quite rushed.
Also, the next freight yard was not far from where Jason lived, so it would be convenient to visit.
Sean tried to carry one of the bags, but Jason adamantly refused. Holding the two bags happily, Jason briskly led the way, occasionally turning back with a smile to remind Sean to be careful around turns.
Sean actually knew the way, but seeing Jason’s expression, he felt both amused and sad.
This was a person who had experienced hardship.
When they arrived at the row of living quarters made from storage containers, Sean looked at the familiar place and felt a bit nostalgic.
Jason shouted in African dialect, and three people immediately appeared.
Two boys—one fifteen or sixteen years old, tall and thin; the other around ten years old, with a large head and showing signs of malnutrition.
A girl, about eighteen years old, with a great figure and good looks. She had quite an attractive stature, very proportional, and a pair of long legs.
Both boys had short hair and the girl had shoulder-length hair. Seeing Sean, curiosity and a hint of shyness appeared in their eyes.
Jason said a few more words and then introduced them to Sean:
“This is my sister Freya, and my brothers Eiris and Malawi.”
“Hello!” Freya greeted first. “Thank you for helping us so much!”
Sean subconsciously replied:
“No need to be polite…”
It was only after saying this that he realized Freya had spoken in Chinese!
This beautiful black girl could speak Chinese!
