Sean Knight wanted to press further, but seeing Mr. John looking like he had seen it all, he sighed secretly and went out to unload the stuff from the pickup.

A drunk in the bar bought the fishing gear on the spot for 4500 dollars.

Besides drinking here, the only pleasure this retired drunk had was fishing.

He would never splurge on such an expensive fishing rod himself, and now that there was a second-hand one, nearly as good as new, how could he pass it up?

As for the farm tools, they were placed directly in the miscellaneous storage behind the bar. John said that someone would come to get them later.

Sean Knight went out immediately.

First, he went to wash the car, then he bought two bags of organic fruit at the supermarket and returned to his rental place.

In this country, the prices of organic and non-organic food in supermarkets can vary by several times.

Given Sean Knight’s current conditions, eating some organic food is no big deal.

But when Aunt Susan saw the organic label, she felt differently.

“Mrs. Susan, come and taste this fruit.” Sean Knight casually handed a bag of fruit to Aunt Susan.

“Sean, you’re too kind!” Aunt Susan was genuinely saying so.

“No problem. By the way, I’m going to take a shower, is that alright?”

“Of course, go ahead!” Aunt Susan accepted the fruit and responded with laughter, “It’s free anyway. Besides, Sean, do you have a girlfriend?”

“Yes, I do.” Sean Knight smiled. He needed to call Joanna Davis later. The weekend was just around the corner – she should be almost back.

However, thinking about it made him a little anxious. The rental place may be better than a container, but Aunt Susan would be there too.

He didn’t know whether the house was soundproof or not. If not, it would be quite embarrassing.

When Aunt Susan heard that he had a girlfriend, she looked disappointed:

“I happen to have a daughter named Linda. I was planning to introduce her to you… what a pity.”

Sean Knight broke into a sweat and hastily went into the house to shower.

Aunt Susan shook her head in disappointment.

She really intended to introduce her daughter to Sean Knight.

Having been an innkeeper for a while, Susan had met all kinds of people. She felt that Sean was a good young man.

Only she didn’t expect that he already had a girlfriend.

Sean had just finished his shower when he received a call from Monica Brown.

“You found a buyer? Great!” Sean responded to the call while towel drying himself, “How should we proceed?”

Although the boxwood pen holder was exquisite, it was of no use to Sean Knight.

A copper brush pen would be more practical.

“At our university. The person is already here, do you think…”

“Alright, I’ll be right over!”

Sean quickly wiped himself down, grabbed the pen holder, casually put it in a paper box, picked up the writing brush, and rushed out the door.

When he arrived at Columbia University and followed Monica’s directions to a café, Sean Knight found Monica and Emily Taylor waiting with a middle-aged Chinese woman wearing glasses.

Sean was a little surprised. Usually, men were more into collecting antiques, very few women were into it. This time, however, he had bumped into a live woman collector!

“Hello, are you Sean Knight?”

The woman spoke first, her gaze mainly on the box in Sean’s hand.

Sean Knight’s writing brush whirled around in his hand twice. He nodded and said:

“Yes, are you Dr. Lee that Miss Monica mentioned?”

Monica had mentioned that a doctoral scholar coming to exchange studies was interested in buying the pen holder as a gift for her family back in China.

“It’s me.” Dr. Lee had a strong intellectual aura. Her short hair made her seem quite efficient. She wasn’t very pretty, but she had a distinct charm.

Emily Taylor couldn’t help but interject:

“Sean, why don’t you show your antique to Dr. Lee!”

Without hesitation, Sean stopped twirling his writing brush, opened the paper box, and handed it over.

Monica, on the other hand, asked:

“Mr. Knight, what would you like to drink?”

Sean did not like coffee, and there was no tea here. He said:

“A glass of lemonade, please.”

Monica asked the waiter to bring a lemonade while Dr. Lee—Violet White—began to “appraise” the pen holder.

However, she soon gave herself away.

Dr. Lee promptly took out her mobile phone and dialed a video call, showing the pen holder to the person on the other end of the line.

The person on the other end took a good look at it for a while, then confirmed that it was genuine.

The offer was not discussed on the call but was probably messaged.

Violet White put down the pen holder, looked at Sean Knight with satisfaction and said:

“The pen holder is in good condition and well preserved, so I want to buy it. Please tell me your price.”

Sean thought for a while and said:

“Fifty thousand dollars.”

This price was not too high or too low. It was pretty fair.

Sean considered Monica’s effort to bring the buyer over and made this decision.

As soon as these words came out, before Violet could respond, Emily Taylor, who was standing nearby, became discontented. She had intended to argue on Violet’s behalf, but Monica stopped her.

Violet smiled at Sean Knight and said:

“Sorry, Emily doesn’t know the market of antiques. Fifty thousand dollars… this price is actually quite reasonable. Let’s do it at this price! Actually, I’m still quite curious. Mr. Knight, you’re so young, but you know so much about antiques. Is it a family tradition?”

“No, I’m just interested. Of course, more often than not, they serve as a source of income for me. I hope Dr. Lee won’t laugh.”

Although Sean said not to laugh, he was quite comfortable about it. He did not become self-conscious nor did he feel there was anything wrong with it.

This attitude surprised Violet, yet she felt that Sean was genuinely open and not pretending.

“We’re all making money with our skills. That’s good,” Violet’s attitude also satisfied Sean, “As long as it’s not illegal, everyone’s pretty much in the same boat. We all make a living from our knowledge. We have no right to laugh at each other. Mr. Knight, I hope you will contact me again if you have good stuff in the future.”

Sean laughed and said:

“I look forward to us working together!”

With his lighter mood, the pen also twirled joyfully in his hand.

When Violet was paying Sean, she saw the pen in Sean’s hand and suddenly asked:

“That pen of yours…”

“It’s made of copper.” Sean stopped the pen and said, “It’s also an antique. I thought it was fun, so I kept it.”

“Could it be…” Violet wasn’t an expert, but she had some inside knowledge. She could tell at first glance that this pen was unusual!

“I’m sorry, I really like this one, so…”

Sean didn’t continue, but his intentions of not selling it were quite explicit.

Violet was a bit disappointed, but securing the pen holder was still worth it!
