(Pov Riser Phenex.) (Romani Archaman)
Finally, the day of my first meeting with Mash had arrived. I decided to meet her earlier than what happened in the original timeline—a small change that could make all the difference. I had already managed to convince Marisbury not to hire Lev as his direct assistant, although, for some reason I still didn't understand, he managed to secure a position as an aide in the Magitech department.
As I walked through the corridors of Chaldea, I couldn't stop thinking about the fate of that little homunculus. Mash Kyrielight, a unique creation destined to become the vessel of a heroic spirit. My heart weighed heavy at the thought that, when this fusion finally happened, her body would begin to fail gradually. In the original story, she wouldn't live beyond twenty years—a fate I was determined to change, no matter the cost.
I walked through the white, sterile corridors of Chaldea, my footsteps echoing against the metallic floor. The air had that characteristic smell of a hospital environment—a mix of disinfectant and air conditioning that had become familiar to me after so many years as a doctor. But today was different. Today, I would meet Mash.
I paused in front of the main laboratory door, my hand hesitating for a moment over the control panel. Through the glass, I could see technicians in their white coats, moving like organized ants around their equipment. And there, sitting alone in a corner, was she—a small girl with lavender hair, large glasses that were too big for her delicate face.
"Damn," I murmured to myself, feeling the weight of responsibility on my shoulders. How the hell had I lived several lives, seen countless tragedies, but something about that scene struck me deeply. Perhaps it was because I knew her fate—this girl would carry a burden that no one should bear.
I took a deep breath and swiped my access card. The door slid open with a soft hiss.
"Good morning, everyone," I greeted, trying to keep my voice casual as I entered. The technicians responded with distracted nods, too busy with their analyses to pay me much attention.
I approached Mash slowly, as one would approach a frightened animal. She lifted her eyes from the book she was reading—a treatise on basic magic, I noted—and looked at me with a mix of curiosity and apprehension.
"Hello, Mash. I'm Dr. Romani Archaman," I introduced myself, keeping a gentle smile. "I will be your new attending physician."
She adjusted her glasses, a gesture I soon learned was characteristic of her when she was nervous. "Nice to meet you, doctor," she replied in a low voice, almost a whisper.
I pulled up a chair and sat next to her, maintaining a respectful distance. "What are you reading?"
"It's a book about the fundamentals of thaumaturgy," she replied, her small hands gripping the edges of the book. "But... there are some parts I don't quite understand."
I smiled, genuinely interested. "You know, besides being a doctor, I'm also a teacher. If you'd like, I can help you with that."
Her eyes widened slightly behind the lenses. "You would... do that?"
"Of course," I replied, feeling a pang in my chest at her surprise with such a simple act of kindness. "Actually, I'll be teaching a group of young people here in Chaldea. You could join us."
For a brief moment, I saw a spark of joy in her eyes, quickly replaced by hesitation. "But... I'm different from the others. I am..."
"You are Mash," I gently interrupted. "And that is more than enough."
In that moment, seeing the small smile beginning to form on her face, I made a silent decision. I knew I couldn't completely change her fate—some gears of the universe are too large even for a demon to manipulate. But I could do something different this time. I could give her moments of normalcy, of joy, before the weight of being a Demi-Servant fell upon her shoulders.
"How about we start now?" I suggested, taking the book she was holding. "Do you have any specific questions?"
As I explained the basic concepts of magic, I watched her face light up with understanding, and I thought about how fate had a peculiar sense of irony.
Days passed as I, Artoria, Miyu, and Gray adapted to life on the coldest continent on the planet. Chaldea, our new home in the heart of Antarctica, gradually began to feel less alien. The constant cold and the white, metallic walls started to take on a strange air of familiarity. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
Finally, my first day as a teacher arrived. As I organized my notes in the classroom, I watched the young faces entering—the talented apprentices of Waver mingling with other students, including Mash. Something in the air felt different, as if destiny was weaving its threads right before my eyes.
"There are no coincidences in this world," I murmured to myself, discreetly analyzing each of them. Everyone there, without exception, carried the potential to become Masters. It was as if some greater force had brought precisely these young people together at this moment and place. The question was: was it truly a matter of chance, or part of a much larger plan that even I couldn't yet comprehend?
The days in Chaldea transformed into a whirlwind of activities, and the anticipation of meeting my students left me restless. I could hardly wait for the first class with Mash; things were beginning to align into a new routine. With each session I had with Mash, we grew closer. I felt more involved with the young girl who was carrying a much heavier burden than they could imagine. It was a challenge, but one I was eager to take on.
Finally, the day of the first official class arrived. The atmosphere in the room was charged with energy and anxiety. As I entered the classroom, the air was filled with murmurs. I looked around and saw the curious faces of Waver Velvet's students. They were all young, with a sparkle in their eyes, the hope of becoming masters and, who knows, maybe even heroes. But deep down, I knew the path wouldn't be easy.
"Good morning, everyone," I began, trying to convey confidence and excitement. "Today, we will embark on a journey that is not just about magic and stories, but also about understanding, responsibility, and, above all, friendship."
The students looked at me with expectation. There was a boy with messy hair who stood out among the rest. He seemed a bit more confident than the others, his gaze radiating determination. "Dr. Romani, what can we expect from this class?" he asked, his voice carrying an inquisitive tone.
"A good question!" I replied, seizing the opportunity to open a dialogue. "I will share with you all the knowledge necessary for you to become exceptional Masters when the time for summoning comes," I announced, my voice echoing through the silent room. The students watched me with a mix of respect and curiosity, their eyes fixed and attentive.
I adjusted my posture before continuing: "The system we developed at Chaldea is revolutionary. Unlike traditional methods, our summoning technique significantly reduces the magical overload on the Master. The Servants can draw energy directly from the Ley Lines, making the partnership much more sustainable."
I scanned the room as I proceeded: "We will begin by studying all the Servants that have manifested in previous Holy Grail Wars. This will give us a solid foundation for understanding the different classes and their characteristics."
No sooner had I finished speaking than I saw Luvia Edelfelt raise her hand with her characteristic aristocratic elegance. Her regal bearing and impeccable posture were trademarks of European magical nobility. Her delicious bust, which I had explored in detail and marked with my essence, swayed enticingly. Noticing my eyes on her breasts, Luvia smiled with a Cheshire grin. (A/N: Luvia was one of those reincarnated with an extra mutant lady.)
"In the last Holy Grail War," Luvia began, her voice carrying the characteristic confidence of the Edelfelts, "the Servants summoned were: in the Saber class, King Arthur; as Lancer, Karna manifested; Rider was represented by Medusa; in the Caster class, Medea emerged; Assassin brought Hassan of Serenity; Berserker manifested as Heracles; and in the Archer class, Emiya appeared." She paused thoughtfully before adding, "There was also the presence of Gilgamesh, a leftover Servant from the previous war who managed to maintain his manifestation."
I watched with professional interest at the precision of her knowledge. Luvia displayed impressive mastery over the events of the war, a result of the long strategic discussions we had during our private meetings to share information about the Holy Grail Wars. (A/N: What was the result of our pillow talk.)
