Third Person's POV

In a heartbeat, the temperature around him plummeted sharply.

Even the prince behind him faltered on feeling the sting of sudden frost wind that crept toward his skin.

The knight's eyes widened in alarm as he realized the sinister intent behind this move, but it was too late.

The attack was not meant to be intercepted, but he had done exactly what Ethan had anticipated.

His action seemed to have been predicted by Ethan, and Ethan, who was behind this attack, took ample opportunity of this.

Without wasting even a breath, Ethan was already deep inside the churning frost-laden mist he had engineered.

The demon prince Aram stood paralyzed in stunned disbelief as his confidence shattered like brittle glass.

He had been so certain and so arrogantly sure that Ethan had been crippled by the vicious lightning strike that had struck him squarely on the head.

But now, this sudden onslaught of glacial shards raining from the heavens like divine punishment had obliterated that illusion.

His eyes, which were once filled with triumph, now narrowed with doubt.

The vicious frost biting into his skin reignited his instincts.

Yet even amid his panic, the flickering black lightning of the knight's sword reassured him for a fleeting moment.

Drawing on his deep reserves of mana, his red spear flared to life and started glowing like molten iron.

Flames danced along its shaft as he pointed it skyward and unleashed a barrage of blazing and fiery crimson bolts lancing toward the icy vortex in defiance.

The fire met ice with explosive intensity, but his satisfaction was short-lived.

The shards shattered far too easily as if they were meant to.

Suddenly, he noticed that something was wrong.

A terrible wrongness slithered into his bones as a freezing and opaque cloud of icy mist bloomed around him and the knight.

In a mere second, his visibility dropped to zero, and the air turned sluggish and wet while his every breath burned with frigid pain.

Before he could utter a word or ignite a defense, a shimmer of movement whispered through his senses, like a phantom flicker in the suffocating gloom.

He jerked his attention toward it instantly, and mana surged to his eyes to pierce the frost, but all he saw was a brief glint of black metal.

It was a thin, dark chain.

It hissed past his cheek like a viper, and he twisted his body at the last possible second and narrowly dodged it.

Ice grazed his skin and froze his neck and face, but he had barely evaded the deadly strike.

His heart pounded wildly, and a predator's instinct howled inside him.

But before he could refocus, dread coiled around his spine.

Where is that boy?

But the cold silence around him only answered with malevolence.

With a primal growl, Aram's body erupted in flame.

His body burst into a cloak of scorching inferno, and fire licked his skin like a second soul.

He poured his full strength into repelling whatever hellish ambush awaited him as heat waves crashed outward to clear the mist, but it failed.

Taking this opportunity, suddenly, another black chain cloaked in cold mists slithered silently from the mist behind him.

Before he could react, it wrapped around his throat like a deadly viper.

It ignored his flames entirely as the frost imbued in it was so absolute that even fire could not melt it instantly.

His eyes bulged, and he gasped, but no sound came out of his mouth.

He tried to struggle, but he was yanked violently into the shadows with his scream cut short as the mist swallowed him whole.

A single fading echo of agony and fear lingered in the air, and then, only silence remained.

Though it seemed like all of this happened in a long time, it happened in a mere duration of two seconds.

A blink later, the hulking knight Telor flashed into the exact spot while his blade was already humming with crackling vengeance.

But he was too late.

His eyes scanned the mist with supernatural focus and tried to isolate Aram's aura, but it was like trying to follow smoke in a storm.

The cold mist wasn't just a cover, but it was also a sabotage.

It twisted his senses, dulled his perception, and scattered the threads of the prince's aura like ashes in the wind.

He darted forward in desperation and sought the pulse of his prince's presence.

But every effort yielded nothing but empty air and mounting frustration.

His jaw clenched, and cold sweat dripped down his temple.

With a guttural roar of fury, he dug his feet into the earth and leapt, releasing a wave of demonic aura as he soared into the sky.

With one hand, he raised his massive sword overhead, and with brute and unfiltered strength, he slashed downward.

The blow wasn't meant for an enemy, but it seemed to be meant for the world itself.

A tidal wave of black lightning and shock exploded from the swing.

Tendrils danced across the sky and earth alike, and with a clap of thunder, the mist was shredded.

The frozen fog was annihilated, and the air turned warm and sharp again as the battlefield re-emerged beneath.

His eyes moved, and he spotted a fleeing shadow on the edge of the tree line.

It moved like a dying wraith and staggered under a burden that had firelight flickering faintly from within.

The red blaze flared and then was snuffed out.

It happened again and again as it tried to rise, but its only fate was to be smothered by dark frost.

Seeing the shadow, Telor's eyes locked onto it, his pupils narrowed, and his veins pulsed with electric wrath.

With a snap of lightning and the roar of a thunderclap, he vanished and chased the staggering flame into the trees like a hunter bound by fury and vengeance.

The once-beautiful emerald canopy of the forest was now a shattered ruin, torn apart by the raging surge of two deadly shadows.
